Dave Wilson Nursery pays a visit to one of our local customers, Cipponeri Farms. You can find them at 5743 Geer Road in Turlock, California. Wonderful fruit, melons and fresh vegetables.
I've learned so much from Tom and this Channel. If I can just stay on top of a spray program I could get the harvest too. Brown rot got most of my peaches this year :(. Super wet May and June here.
Always excited for new Dave Wilson video. I don't have much space left but I have a special spot waiting for one of your varieties. I'm a giant fan of flavor King pluot and my favorite stone fruit ever is Flavor grenade pluot. Delicious! I want a Pluerry tree to fill the last spot but I don't know the chill hours for your new Flavor Punch pluerry. I think I can get away with something between 300 and 500 chill hours. Tom, please tell me the new flavor punch pluerry is much lower than the other pluerries.
It’s probably not any more low chill than Sweet Treat Pluerry, which is very low, maybe 100 hours. Sugar Twist is about 300-350 hours. Flavor Punch needs to be tested more still, too new to say yet.
@@DaveWilsonTreesthanks for the reply. I'm a bit confused. Your website shows 450 chill hours below 45 for sweet treat and 800 for sugar twist. Are you using a different metric or have the numbers been moved down? I apologize if I'm not understanding the difference.
@@DaveWilsonTrees awesome. That's encouraging and exciting. I'm going to attempt to preorder a flavor punch pluerry from Laguna Hills Nursery for next spring. Thank you so much for the clarification and replies.
How do you get permission to place signs on the highway for a stand in South Georgia? I notice politicians, other stands, and yard sales do it but I can't find anything about legality/permits.
The main perpetuator of the concept of a permaculture orchard, Stefan Sobkowiak, days that training the branches of fruit trees downwards is better because, when they stretch upwards, they focus on growing upwards instead of producing fruit. This did not make sense to me, do you have an idea of if this is true? Thanks!
Sounds like coddling moth. 3 or 4 pheromone traps in the tree about a month before fruit is ripe should handle it. Growers use the traps as indicators, then spray. Average life for a peach is 20-25 years.
