Visiting EXTINCT Minecraft Mods 

Seen a couple comments pointing this out, yes I know ProjectE is still being updated. No, I did not know that until said comments told me. Haven't seen it in a modern day pack or even pop up on the mod browser when browsing so I was under the impression it was abandoned.

The fact that 1.7.10 is considered ancient by modding standards caused psychic damage

Projecte isnt really forgotten, what is forgotten that i really loved is thaumcraft

1.7.10 used to be the heaven for minecraft mods. Orespawn, thaumcraft, galacticraft, bibliocraft, ect. If anyone here remembers crazy craft modpack, you have been around for so long.

Love the video! I should note, ProjectE is still being updated to this day, and Archimedes Ships has been remastered and split into Valkyrien Skies (which adds support for physics) and Eureka (which adds the actual ship part). Valkyrian even has a crossover mod with Create, called Clockwork.

as someone who peaked playind minecraft mod in 1.7.10 and then slowly faded away, I'm a bit sad discovering that some mods i considered significant part of many modpacks are in this list ;(

Bibliocraft, Carpenters Mod, and Balkan's Weapons were among my favorites. Biblio added so much, including customizable furniture and a typewriter where mobs could write books. There was the Shadow Dimension, which had potential, Ancient Ruins, and while Mo' Creatures hasn't been forgotten, it seems to have been abandoned, the same with Millnaire, with it's varied cultures and settlements that grew if you traded resources with them.

This video just gave me a big flashback. There was an old German smp called troll wars where everyone would've prank everyone (which the name says) and every mod in this video was in that smp

None of these mods died in 1.7. The original mods were updated to at least 1.12 and all of them have some equivalent that is updated to 1.20. Openblocks: kibe utilities updated to 1.20 Extra utilities: kibe utilities updated to 1.20 Project E: 1.20 Archimedes ships: eureka! and valkyrien skies updated to 1.20 Morph: remorphed updated to 1.20

No offense but open blocks, extra utility, and project e are still well alive they still exist prevalently in 1.12 modding which is still pretty big

projecte still exists and is one of my favorite mods to add to a modpack when i'm bored and want balance to take some paid time off

Pretty much all of these maods are in my favorit old questing modpack. Blightfall so seeing this brought a huge wave on nostalgia

Open Blocks and ExtraUtilities were must haves for mod packs back in the day. Especially technology & automation focused ones. Barrels were really handy for things like BuildCraft's oil & fuel, the liquid tank was great for storing stuff, glider worked great with jetpacks, generators worked perfectly with the machines from Thermal Expansion & Minefactory Reloaded (another forgotten mod).

The funny thing is that Project E was already a revival of the original Equivalent Exchange 2 that stopped being developed back in 1.2.5

Poor Equivalent Exchange... It's recreation takes its spot in a list of extinct mods. :c

Projecte isnt really forgotten its just too op to make a balanced gameplay without changing its craftings

This really threw me back hard - its crazy how many of these mods I recognized but didnt really know the names of cause I wasnt quite into modding yet

Everyone is pointing out that projectE is still being updated but it's also worth noting that extra utilities is not really forgotten, all utilities/utils mod are clearly inspired by it

It’s really funny seeing ProjectE in this form since I remember it during the days of Tekkit where it was more about chests and stationary inventories than it was about an on the go utility. Also all the tools and rings were so powerful yet completely broken like the flying ring that never actually took energy. Also interesting seeing it as just its own mod instead of being a complimentary mod that helps the rest of the mod pack. In fact basically every single mod mentioned here was functionally that. Small mods that added a fair bit, but were only ever complimentary mods to whatever mod pack you were playing.

Open blocks got taken apart and has some mods reimplementing things from it: gliders, elevators, etc. Archimedes ships has its own successor - Eureka! Ships! (Which is an add-on for a library Valkyrien Skies)

decent amount of the open locks stuff seems to be in cyclic now

god i miss the morph mod, every time i come back to modded minecraft i look to see if it’s been updated because it was such a huge part of my early modded experiences. it made killing a bat an important part of progression, getting to fly around as one of those was such a cool experience. i hope someone picks it back up eventually, i would hate to see it vanish into memory altogether.

Man, I had so much fun back in the day with the airship mod and morph mod.

Most of these are still fresh in my mind actually! Me and my friends did the whole Golden Cobblestone modpack a couple times. As the guy in charge of resource gathering, the Deep Dark realm was a dream come true

This makes me feel old, I still go back to my old 1.7.10 modded world. It literally has all of these mods.

Fun fact: ProjectE was actually one of the mods that was prominently used in DanTDM's Diamond Dimensions series.

Archimedes ship mod has a spiritual successor called the eurika mod, it allows you to do all the same stuff as archimedes but it allowes you to walk around on the ship while its flying use any utility blocks like furnaces and chests, and it's not limited to air ships since you can use them as normal boats too, they are still updating it and I heard they want to add submarines to it.

7:42 It's mod called Eureka Airships that's same like this one and you can build on ship when it is in in ship mode.

i still use most of these mods, simply perfection

Also haven't seen anyone mention yet but Project E is a clone/revival of the even older mod EE2 (Equivalent Exchange 2)

I loved each and every one of these mods for years of play, thanks for the reminder of them good old days

I have fond memories of experimenting and playing with all the mods you mentioned in this video. I miss them tbh

Most of the mods that you look at in this video are my go-to mods when it comes to playing 1.7.10. All of them add things to minecraft that either change the dynamic of gameplay or add things that just feel fluid, especially when used with other mods. The 1.7.10 era of minecraft modding will always be my favorite

Me and some friends during our 2 week period of the "minecraft urge" were playing on 1.7.10 cuz we enjoy the mods from that version of minecraft

those mods being considered old minecraft makes me feel old, i loved them as a kid

OpenBlocks, Extra Utilities and Archimedes Ships were auto-includes in all my 1.7.10 modpacks. No way I'm forgetting any of these!!

As a young shoop I used to love all these mods

Carpenter's blocks was what made it for me, you could get any modded block and plop it in there.

These mods wil never be forgotten, i really miss the old minecraft era.

EE2 was and still is my favourite mod of all time, it makes EVERY block useful, every farm useful, speeds up gameplay and it rocks. I wish someone could balance it, i think if they just left the alchemy part and removed all the OP items it could work

Man the Nostalgia just hit's different i started modded minecraft in 1.6.4 and one of my favorite mod was RWBY (Roster Theet Animaion) based mod was!

Hearing all the different musics you're using is crazy, like the Astro Biome from Calamity Terraria, P-1 Flesh Prism boss theme from Ultrakill to name the ones that I favorite

The morph mod has always been one of my favorites

As someone who played the blood and bones modpack that's on version 1.6.5 I can say that I now feel old

Lots of the major things from openblocks, extra utilities, and the chicken bones mods have modern ports, the likes of openblocks elevator, chicken chunks 1.8+, and angel ring 2 Project e is still around and updated, it just isn’t really included in packs because nowadays people know exactly how broken it is

Oh dear lord I still boot up a modpack with all 4 of these sometimes. So much headspace wasted on these mods. I still remember that the Rainbow bacon is the only Pam's harvest craft feast with an EMC value because it only contains vanilla items in its recipe, but because lapis lazuli was one of those ingredients its still cheaper to just pull out a stack of steak.

The morph mod is still being updated, IChun is just busy IRL, but recently is updated for 1.16, and he has plans to continue updating it

There was a mod called Cellular Automata which used a procedure to generate “Great Wall of China” style walls, cities, and roads. I think it was last available in 1.7.10

Thaumcraft, Witchery, and the Spider Queen Mod were some favorites of mine in 1.7.10

Oh man as someone who stopped updating MC after 1.8, seeing almost exclusively mods i have in my current modpack in a list of ancient and forgotten mods hits hard

Coming here to pour one out for Forestry. Abandoned, forgotten, power crept and everything else in between. It had its problems, but the vibe was top-tier for me. Its a shame most people overlooked or disliked it. I really think the lack of popularity killed it.

It's not extinct per se, since it has a tight-knit active community, but you should absolutely check out the Lord of the Rings mod. It's seriously probably the largest, most cohesive, and most well-crafted mod that Minecraft has ever seen, but it goes mostly under the radar because it stayed on 1.7.10 and the developer was never very public-facing. This mod is seriously it's own game, it's that massive, it's a complete overhaul of Minecraft to turn it into Middle-earth. Just to clarify, there is a newer "Renewed" version of the mod for 1.16, but the dev didn't get super far into the development before pausing for an undetermined amount of time. If you check the mod out (and again, you absolutely should, you're seriously missing out if you haven't tried it before), make sure you're getting the Legacy version for 1.7.10.

I love Extra Utilities. It's still not forgotten in my mind. The cursed earth created from the ritual with the division sigil is really useful for mob grinders, as they have increased spawn rate for hostile mobs, and make any mob spawner on top work faster. But a mod I really miss, is Blood Magic... Or it's extention mod Sanguimancy. Loved Sanguimancy.

Most of these are in GT:NH, and ALL of these are in crazy craft, and people still play those two, so these mods arent really all that forgotten

A big one that I recently noticed hadn’t been updated in a long time was orespawn after trying to find a modern crazy craft modpack

ProjectE is still maintained but i havnt seen any modpacks use it in a LONG time Some notable ones i remember is that one that has like random weird events that spawn tons of op monsters that was in like every modpack at the time for some reason, and the one that summoned those weird cobblestone towers with a cyclopse at the top

These mods are far from forgotten, maybe not released on the latest minecraft, or by the original author, but lots of the old 1.7.10 mods have at least been partially ported to newer minecraft.

Project E is not forgotten or extinct, it is loved.
