Sanders was a true champion. Huge effort by Vitali, great fight. Heartbreaking to read what happened to Sanders only 8 years later. And also heartbreaking in which situation Vitali is nowadays.

Sanders hit like a Mack truck with that straight left of his, but Vitali was able to absorb his punches and press forward until he got the victory. I think Vitali should have been named Dr 'Iron Chin' instead of Dr 'Iron Fist'. This was an excellent heavyweight scrap and a very underated fight. It is a pity Sanders never got a fight with Lennox Lewis long before this bout with Vitali. I think Sanders would have given Lewis a hard time because he had quicker hands than the British fighter and that sledgehammer left being fired from the southpaw stance, would have given Lewis fits. Sanders was a very underated heavyweight. He had 18 first round knockout wins to his credit and had victories over Wladimer Klitchko, Bert Cooper, Al Cole, Ross Puritty, Mike Williams, Levi Billups, Johnny Du Plooy and Johnny Nelson. He was avoided by a lot of top heavyweights in the 1990s who wanted no part of him. He continued to box after his defeat to Vitali before retiring in 2008 with a record of 42-4. He was probably one of South Africa's best ever heavyweight fighters but never got the recognition he so thoroughly deserved. RIP Corrie Sanders (1966-2012).

Ich wünschte, jeder Kampf gegen einen der Klitschkos hätte so angefangen und auch wie in der ersten Runde geendet! Schade, dass Sanders verloren hat. Die Klitschkos waren die grauenhaft langweiligsten, uninspirierendsten Weltklasse-Boxer der Geschichte. Das war der erste halbwegs spannende Kampf, den ich mit einem von denen gesehen habe.

Почему Корри Сандерс не срубил кличка в начале этого боя, ве шансы были на его стороне, такие атаки, и этот бздун убегал постоянно, а их ,этих братков всегда так и мочили, когда они тикают. Кажется мне всё таки договорняк был - надо было что бы кличко победил, типа месть за брата и шоу. Ведь такие цирки мы уже наблюдали - брат за брата.Это моё субъективное мнение.

Thankfully, the Klitschko brothers are retired. We no longer have to watch their boring robotic fights.
