Just had levels checked, take 10,000iu a day, Dr was surprised that they are in a normal to good range, he was surprised because the majority of his patients he only sees low levels, I then shocked him by telling him I only take 10,000iu a day, he said that's too much, so ok doc if I took less I'd be in the low range. Proves that we do not store vitd or get much from food. Now I wonder what other vitamins are not absorbing well from our food. I know this behaviour it's because people are learning and empowering themselves to look after thier own health naturally and Drs, nutritionists etc don't like it. It's an ego complex. I asked my doctor to check my D levels when I went for a checkup and he said that it was too expensive. Considering I'm 70 and on Medicare, I was wondering why he should care what it cost. He did send my blood work to the lab to test for other things and said that they found that I had polycydemia when the results came in. He sent me to an oncologist, who determined that I didn't have polycydemia after the bill ran up to over $4K for that misdiagnosis. So I'm doing my own 'doctoring' from now on with help from the doctors on You Tube. I started taking 20K iu of D3...with 100 Mcg of K2, 7...along with 400 mg of magnesium, B complex 50 and 50 mg of zinc glyconate...and my muscle pains have gone away, I'm sleeping better and have more energy.

@patrice94583. Sunlight helps convert the cholesterol based precursor to vitamin D into a useable form. It has more to do with diet, IMO, than sun exposure.

Went to the doctor and my vitamin D levels were low. On the advice of my doctor I took 10,000 IU capsule form per day. on the third day I started experiencing chest and back pain. And ended up in the ER. I stopped taking it, and felt better after about 5 or 6 days. Everyone said that it’s impossible to React like that from vitamin D, but I found it to be quite a coincidence that I would start feeling like that. About nine months later I tried it again and again on the third day I started having chest and back pain and my blood pressure was super high. I guess everyone’s different because my body doesn’t like it. It’s just too much for me. It took about 6 days for chest and back pain to subside. I was seriously concerned I was going to have a heart attack because of the chest pain. Also because Vitimain D is a hormone I believe it had a severe negative effect on my emotions during this time as well. It was not fun. My doctor was recommending 50,000 IUs. I sure am glad I didn’t take that!

I've been taking 10,000 iu sublingually for 10 years, to maintain between 80-100 ng/ml. I get my blood tested every year to track my levels. Rule of thumb, most people should take at least 5,000 iu a day to have at least 60 ng/ml of vitamin D in their blood. Studies show that you could take in excess of 10,000 iu for many many months and still not reach that theoretical toxicity limit. As a side note, people who are sick, including cancer, or an autoimmune disorder should likely take 20,000 iu /daily.

I agree with your viewpoint entirely. D supports a number of vital mechanisms in our bodies that support good health. Dr. Linda Beskin,and Gruff Davies have published some information on D. which suggests daily intake of healthy people should be in the region of 7,000 IU. Also of note was that there is a body mechanism that prevents really high levels of D in the body when taken at once, and once the limit is exceeded it converts the D into something else. (Not sure what it converts to any more. (my memory is not what it was.) That reduction continuously converts the D levels after that first high dose for around 28 days.
@therealtimray
@therealtimray 2 года назад
@@lenwenzel7440 very interesting. I'll have to look into that further. It makes sense though. "In the wild" a light skinned adult could potentially synthesize around 5,000 iu for every half hour of full sun exposure (in a swimsuit in the summer). With that in mind, you could get 10,000 iu every hour. How many times have you spent all day in the sun during the summer? Especially as children. You don't see children in the hospital with vitamin D overload. Maybe stuck at home a few days with a bad sunburn, but that's about it. The body has to have some mechanism to store and process excess vitamin D. The real reason, imo, why vitamin D is fat soluble is so that we'll have vitamin D stores for the winter months to protect us from sickness, among other things. There's less ability to naturally create vitamin D in the winter months due to the angle of the sun. It's the human version of how hibernating animals store energy in fat for the winter.

I’ve been exposed to COVID-19 and while others who were with me for the whole weekend when I was exposed, got COVID-19 even though I was the one who sat next to the person who first got symptoms the Tuesday after that weekend and tested positive for COVID-19. Others were sick by Thursday and Friday. I never got COVID-19 but decided to take an antibody test and it was negative. First of all, great content, congrats! I think people should be told what "Vitamin D toxicity" really means. It's not some kind of deadly poisoning, it's excessive amounts of Calcium in the blood (and the effects of hypercalcemia), due to the increased D levels. This can be dealt with via dietary choices (avoiding rich sources of calcium), but mainly with vitamin K2 supplementation. It should also be noted that K2 does not interfere with blood coagulation or blood clotting, as K1 does. Especially MK-4, but also MK-7, at least up to 200μg/day. So, the "magic trio" would be Vitamin D3, Magnesium, and K2.

@@randmtsk7512 It is fine because in this case, their copywriter did not know what he/she was writing about! As you can see on the product's Amazon page, they mention "K1 (MK-4)", whereas, in fact, MK-4 is just another form of K2, not K1 !! So, you're good from that aspect. However!... read below K2 MK-4 has a very short half-life; it is bioavailable for just one hour, which makes it a very poor choice as a supplement. Additionally, the amount of MK-7 is very low. There should be at least 2-3 times as much for this to be adequate.

Mushroom absorb the vitamin D from the sun and eels that has got the higher vitamin D also relying to get vitamin D from the sun, meaning that we humans need vitamin D from the sun? The way to figure out vitamin D is to look at the big picture, which most people, including doctors don't do. I did my own research about vitamin D toxicity, and it kills on average zero people per year. Vitamin D deficiency on the other hand is responsible for millions of deaths, poor health and had adverse effects of the health of hundreds of millions of people at minimum. I can't even find any real proof that vitamin D is actually toxic in the first place. Vitamin D is not even a vitamin, it's a cholesterol based hormone, so it is a steroid hormone that is necessary for human function. Vitamin D toxicity is actually elevated blood calcium levels, not vitamin D toxicity. Vitamin D also can cause magnesium deficiency which gets confused for vitamin D toxicity. With these facts, and if 73,000 people take vitamin D supplements with such a tiny percentage having any symptoms at all, and no deaths, why are we warning people about vitamin D toxicity in the first place? More people die each year from drinking too much water at one sitting, or water toxicity than vitamin D toxicity. I just don't get it...

This description hold true for being informed by all of my reading of the literature to date. IMHO, in addition, testing for levels 40 ng/ml or above should be done by ICPMS methodologies, as other methods become significantly less accurate above 40. Also, these levels increase gut uptake of calcium, and increased serum levels that need K2 MK7 to transport the excess into bone, rather than accumulating in soft tissue excessively. Testing is important to guide toward maintaining the 60 to 80 'sweet range' in blood for most people. Huge benefits for many genetic expressions in epigenetics are suggested in the literature IMHO. Read the literature, and discuss it with a doctor that understands the extensive research currently known.

You should always supplement vitamin d with vitamin k as it regulates calcium in the bloodstream.
@vermeea1
@vermeea1 2 года назад
You need to take vitamin K2 along with D3 so that Calcium is directed into the bones and directed into other areas of the body where it is needed. D3 alone will mobilize Calcium stores and K2 forces the Calcium into the proper places. Just do a web search for K2 needed with D3. So called 'doctors' do not know much about vitamins. Do not take D3 without taking K2 as Mk 7.
@Destroyer9747
@Destroyer9747 2 года назад
Besides taking vitamin D3 (or D2, a less potent Vitamin D source with a lower potential to induce hypercalcemia) with vitamin K1 & K2 (to help metabolize vitamin D while funneling calcium into bone), the only other thing is do is avoid supplementing calcium with vitamin D, since most foods (and mineralized water) have more than enough calcium to be adequate if you're able to absorb it well. Plus, vitamin D3 increases the body's own calcium intake and recycling system which makes additional supplemental calcium intake possibly dangerous when your vitamin D levels are sufficient.

In the summer I spend a lot of time riding my motorcycle, getting lots of sunshine. I live in Michigan where the sun disappears for 5 months. Vitamin D is converted from your fat into your liver and then finally into your bloodstream. There’s a name for each process but I can’t remember lol. @onthefringe7
@onthefringe7 2 года назад
@@summersalix you are right supplementing vitamin d is toxic. It is a hormone not a vitamin. This dr doesn’t know what he’s talking about. You have to get d from the sun and food not synthetic supplements. They never measure the active form 1,25 that hardly anyone is ever deficient in. I also follow Matt Blackburn, Justin Stellman and expert vitamin d researcher Jim Stephenson Jr. Come to our FB group Secosteroid Hormone D to learn more about why you should not supplement. There is no clinical benefit for 25D to be over 21! If you have levels over 60 you will start to calcify your soft tissues and start a slow process of toxicity which will be difficult to reverse.

@onthefringe7
@onthefringe7 2 года назад
@@summersalix You’re so welcome! Your hunch was absolutely correct. It’s unfortunate that your doctor is misinformed and very incorrect. 25D is the storage form and 1,25d is the active one that has all of the biological activity and goes to the vitamin D receptors to make all of your I logical warriors to fight off pathogens and viruses. It is absolutely crazy that almost all of the doctors out there are promoting this and not understanding how absolutely dangerous it is to have huge doses of this hormone in the body. They have no idea where it goes once it’s in the body And it does cause a Cascade of problems after it accumulates. I hope to see you in the group! Jim Stephenson is the owner of the group and his research is phenomenal. I’ve been studying this for couple years now. Takes a while to get your head wrapped around it but once you too there is no going back! There are many people who have come to the group because they felt so awful taking D. To answer your question about levels. Think about this - in 2010 the acceptable level of 25D was 12.5! Then they raised the goal and now want a minimum of 30 and ranging all the way up to 100 or more. This is insanity. A perfect level of 25D is 21-24. That is where the lowest all cause mortality is. Your 1,25D should be 1.5 to 2.0 times the level of your 25D if it’s in the normal range. I hope that helps 😀

The problem with any OTC vitamin or medication is that the recommended dosage isn't based on the individual taking it. I'm 66, female, 5' tall and weigh 102 lbs - the label doesn't take any of that into account so a 20-year-old male weighing 250 lbs will buy the same bottle of vitamins and read the same dosage instructions - I always start with less than the recommended amount.

@@janetbrown3349 My D level is 214 ng/ml, however my blood calcium level is mid range normal. The danger with too high a D level is that D can increase blood calcium levels which can be dangerous. There are 3 main minerals that regulate the calcium in the blood stream so that high levels of D are not dangerous, however they do require monthly tests too make sure your calcium hasn't gotten out of control, Magnesium, Potassium and K2 all regulate blood calcium levels. But I do agree that levels over 100 ng/ml should be watched carefully and blood calcium levels must be observed to remain in the normal range. Always take one of the minerals to make sure to control blood calcium. I'm not too concerned with my D level since my calcium level is normal, as one strong exposure to an illness would knock my D levels down fast. I will be testing at least every other month.
