A few months after I had my Vive controllers, i noticed the touch-pad buttons were getting squishy, and unless I pushed really hard on them, they would not work. Since Fallout 4, DoomVR, and a few other games are going to be coming out over the next few months I almost bought two new controllers, however, after reading the reviews I decided against it. Every single review said that within weeks the touch-pad stopped working. Someone even said their new controller didn't work right. Its a known defect and I found a simple fix. I was scared at first but though... why not. why spend $260 when I could attempt to fix them for free. I wasn't going to make a video, but decided to when the video's I found kinda skimmed over a few things. I hope this video helps you!
