You're thinking of Jan Kuehnemund she was the original Guitarist of Vixen she died back in 2013. Mitchell Meldrum was the original Guitarist of Phantom Blue she died back in 2006 .
@@paultreadaway102I am fairly certain that "someone" was actually Rikki Rockett himself, drummer from Poison! ;) (Pretty sure Vixen opened for Poison at least a bit)
This band was so underrated. My band opened a show with them just before they broke it big...they were killer players with a killer sound. Treated us great.
C'mon, it's not underrated.......this thing was all over the radio when it came out......I remember.....I was in my 20s.......so was Cryin' ....what sucked is they fizzled and broke up so quickly
This song came out when I was about 12 years old, and I loved it. I remember one day in middle school we had to run around the track in gym class, and this was one of the songs they played over the loudspeaker. That was the most fun I ever had in a gym class! As a girl growing up in the ‘80s, it was inspiring to see Vixen and other women in heavy metal like Lita Ford who were strong and powerful yet also beautiful and feminine. Not only were they amazing musicians, but they also had the most incredible hair-it was a work of art itself!
RIP Rock in peace Jan! These guys were the dream I was never given the chance to fulfill so I've lived vicariously through them. Ladies you are amazing!!
@jhgjhghjhvkuggug154 I don't think rap will take over. I think, as with fashion, no one style will dominate. Artists will be able to use whatever style works for them and the song. Artists will be more free, and I think we'll be able to get our glam rock back with even more amazing groups. This is the female rock group that always comes to mind for me. Vixen, Lita Ford and Pat Benatar will ALWAYS be my ladies of rock.
I was born in '97 and discovered Vixen in 2012, since that they're my favorite band alongside Aerosmith. They deserve much more recognition than they achieved. Jan is one of my guitar heroes, Janet is one of my favorite singers, Roxy is a war machine behind the drums and Share is a bass goddess. R.I.P Jan, the legend.
I was 14, when this video, was all over MTV! Hard to believe but it was also in the 📻 radio! In 1988, when this came out, we also had Lita Ford's, 💋 kiss me deadly, femme fatale s, waiting for the big one, all over MTV/ radio. Those were the good old days. I believe both Saraya/debut album and Fiona's/ heart❤ like a gun, came out in 89, another great year for female, and rock and roll, I. General. Check out Saraya, and Fiona, if you haven't, so already!
Reading Richard Marx's memoir is why I'm here. Great song! Never heard of the band Vixen until his book, and I can understand why his part of helping this band happen was so important.
I saw Richard Marx live a few days ago. I never knew his involvement until he mentioned it but I remember liking Vixen back in the day. All great musicians.
In the 80's we lived and rocked, like we would never get old. Here's today and to hell with tomorrow was our motto. We either died young in Los Angeles or got old and moved to Nashville.I laugh at this shit they call music these days.
+Too Wild You said it... And while I'm getting older, I refuse to grow up. Turn the Marshall to 11 and rock on! "Music" today is as bland as bad vanilla ice cream lol...
Hey man, not all of us are killing music. My dad played guitar in a band called Lippstikk and they opened for Great White back in 88. I heard of hair bands and I was like this is great.
Too Wild. Well we rocked in L.A. from the late 70's through the 80's. Never got to Nashville though. Got promoted at a Bank and ended up in Fresno CA and now Bakersfield CA. Holy crap, what the hell happened to me?! Give me my drums, some beer and my hair! Damn! I miss those times
OR the bands lived in Nashville & moved to LA...only to die there. I lived in Nashville all through this era & knew so many bands that split to LA to try & make it big. The 80's were a blast! Music was about having FUN, celebrating music & life & rockin out. Live concerns will never be the same as the 80's. Remember standing in line all night for General Admission tickets so you could squeeze & crawl your way up to front row? LOL - AWESOME!
I meet Jan's cousin today. Best day I've had in a long time. He played drums in the 80s so he knew all the hair bands too. Got lots of good dirt. I told him to make sure his cousin knew she was my idol. That the entire group was my idol. When he said his cousin played in viven I could tell he didn't think I would know them. Boy was he wrong. Viven meant the world to so many young girls who wanted to rock. They started a revolution in the music industry. Whereas the runaways might have come first and a couple solo acts like Lita Ford or Joan jett. But it was viven that showed the world that girls/womem can rock just as hard as the men could. These ladies have no clue how many lives they changed. I wasn't musically inclined but I used their example to crush it several other male dominated industries. Their punk rock attitudes and 80s hardcore rock helped break a lot of glass ceilings. I hope you women know how much you meant to an entire generation and beyond. Even my son and his friends prefer the 80s to the crap they call music today. You are true women leaders. You are what we need to show these young girls they don't have to beg or legislate their way to tht top... you earn it and then you take it! And damn whoever doesn't like it.
One of the the greatest bands,I saw them live back then on tour and they became my favorite band because they were so full of energy and rocked the whole time, they had it all, beautiful!
@@dannyrexon1241 I've seen it, she is absolutely amazing. She also covered steelheart. Alyona (spelling) also did a great cover of Vixen and the greatest cover of Cinderella I've ever heard. Assuming you're a hair metal fan.
@@dannyrexon1241 hold up, that's incredible. You're the director and guitarist? You guys are bringing back good music and doing the lord's work lol. Keep it up!
Yup.....I wouldn’t trade with this generation today for a million dollars...we had so much fun in the 80’s...packed beaches, clubbing, parties every weekend...hair & clothes...no worries about people taking videos and pics of you all the time....lol
I Was Lucky Enough to See VIXEN at the Riverside County Fair in 1988, They Were Just A Fantastic Band!! They Put On A Great Show!! Not A Lot of Bands from Today Had the Style And Class, That VIXEN Had!! I Will Be Seeing VIXEN AT THE CANNERY CASINO, Here in Las Vegas NV, October 27th Next Year. This Year I Wanted to See VIXEN, I had Covid This Year, Their Song "Love Made Me", Was My Fight for Life Song. I Decided to See VIXEN One More Time. I Just Love Roxy Petrucci, She's Very Sweet!!
You're lucky, man. I'm 34 and i really don't want even try to understand today's music and style - i like art of past decades only (especially 80's). These girls and their haircuts - all this was real, true. Now is only silicon, foolish fashion and stupid movies without sense.
Jan sounded waay better (if thats possible) in concert. check out this clip and listen to how heavenly her guitar tone reverberates: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lbHMO8V7tfU.html (R.I.P. Jan Kuehnemund 😢)
My first show was Vixen, Ratt, Quiet Riot, Slaughter, and Vince Neil headlining before his return to Motley Crue. The drummer played for Slaughter, and she also played the keys for Vince Neil. She’ll know this… Vince was so hammered he fell off stage singing how sweet home and he was throwing it up like 1 more! We were like No more! 😂 classic
The 80s the best decade ever I use to wear my hair like this all the time with a bunch of aquanet and the 80s had the best music I want to go back and do it all over does anyone have a delorean I'll go back in a sec no internet no facebook no cell phones to ruin our lives todays kids dont know how great we had it I would not want to be a kid today the 80s live on .
Very greatful I graduated in 1984 from highshool as I not only got to experience the entire decade of the 1980's but also the 70's. Two entirety different from one another in many ways but both were nothing short of awesome. At age 56 now I will at this point never tire of 80's rock and new wave.
I live in a far away country, but I had listen this song for the first time at a CD shop and was excited to buy it. I will never forget their courage and sincere effort as true rock stars.
Lauren Dion amen to that! I was just a kid in the 80's but I'm stuck on the music and haven't liked much of anything since then. I keep coming back to the good stuff like this. seriously feel like I got ripped off generationally, over and over. I'd rather be a child of the 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's, but those that were adolescents or above in the 80s really had it made, what a great time. I had the 90s....blah. Nirvana, lame. Tell me something good that happened between 90 and 99. Yeah, the only thing I can cite is losing my virginity, the rest is crap.
Lauren Dion well, there are lots of new school bands nowadays playing 80s style rock music. So the 80s are still pretty alive, except for the fact that they went underground.
OH YEAH!! I had an awesome time in the 80's. Started getting good music wise for awhile in the late 70s then the 80s rocked! I was a lot crazier then. Gotta grow up sometime darn it.
Sue Buckley hi sue I too had awesome time in the 80s but just remember growing old is compulsory but growing up is optional ! just remember youre memories as dreams don't last as long ! see you on the other side some day colin x
I was born on November 14th 1993 grew up in the late 90s early 2000s I might be a millennial but to this day I still listen to the 80s rock/metal today’s generation has no idea what good music is.
I am a first year GenEx graduate. I literally married my high school sweetheart! This song reminds me of how young we were in the early 80’s. And yes she is still my vixen!!
Lived the 80 s as a late teen / early 20,s metal loving jinkie. Motley CRUE, Dokken, Warrant, Kiss,Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Deep purple, Aldo Nova , Judas priest and VIXEN. The best ladies R&R band ever. SORRY , DORO, LITA, PAT AND JOAN. VIXEN WAS THE BEST .
I grew up then too. Born in 1970. Saw the whole decade as a teen, practically, and graduated High School in 1988. If you search RU-vid for 'Queen Wembley 1986' you can see the entire concert. Not a single cell-phone in sight.. Because no one had them. Except rich businessmen like Gordon Gekko in 'Wall Street'. Very expensive and very rare. So odd to notice that looking back...
I was born in 1985 I wish I could have enjoyed this wonderful time alittle more. Thankfully my sister was born in 1974 and she taught me all the good 80s music when I was little I know every word to all the songs great memories❤❤
@@2nais4ever That's fantastic. I think the key is: constant forward motion. Always make positive steps toward your goal no matter how small the step. Before you know it we'll be rockin' to your videos here.
I remember I was up late night watching MTV, practicing my guitar for a gig and these girls came on. I put down my guitar and loved every minute of it! Theses girls are great musicians! Loved it back in the 80s that women were in bands and the lead guitar player Jan, is greatness!! She phrase her leads well with great Melodie’s!
The Girls are Gorgeous Glam and Glam around that Glam Hair Metal time and they can Rock beauty talented just blessed and part of the greatest decade of all time never to forget miss it so much oh hail the 80s
In interviews, these stunning women said that other bands they would play shows with (male, of course) would watch them just to see if they played their own instruments. I love that the memory of Vixen will live on through me and others who fangirl for them ♡
HAPPY BDAY SHARE! i watched the VH1 bands reunited, and Share looked even YOUNGER 10+ years after the band disbanded. It's a must see, guys💋 it's the full episode, commercial free.
I totally agree the 80s where the years best music came out. The music today sucks. Rock will never die, but music like Justin Bieber will. Toss the cel phones computers out the window. Let's go back in time. 8 track cassettes vinyl records. Rock on
