Turmeric lends the yellow color... mt. Olive is a superior brand... they use higher quality ingredients... I like both but I prefer the mt olive because they are crunchier... they make really good bread and butter pickles... I’d love to see aldi bagel vs Thomas... the price difference is huge... Aldis are $1.49 and Thomas are $4.69. I think they are very similar...
Mt. Olive uses dyes they are not superior. A good pickle but not better than vlasic , turmeric extract also lends a flavor similar to mustard but not exact. It’s definitely a color and flavor addition at the end of the day. Vlasic whole pickles for the win!
I love Mt olive dills in the 128 oz glass jar! The pickles are huge and taste great! The glass jar is a bonus free storage container! Once you eat all the pickles fill the jar and dill juice with boiled eggs and make pickled eggs! After you eat your eggs wash the jar and lid and use it for anything! Flour, rice, dried beans, anything you want to keep safe from pests! What a bargain!
I love Vlasic. I always ate them as a kid with my grandpa, and now I’m a 33 year old lady and my grandpa is no longer with us, so whenever I eat some Vlasic pickles it reminds me of him.
I just bought a gallon jar of Vlasic whole dill pickles at Costco for $4.69. That’s $0.036 an ounce. Now THAT is s great deal for an amazing dill pickle!
I bumped into Mt Olive at a discount grocery store, decided to try them. LOVE the kosher style with garlicky taste. Glad to see someone's comment about their bread & butter style so I will try that also.
Before watching this I'm going to say Mt. Olive will win. The Vlassic, Claussen and other brands taste too vinegary in my opinion while Mt. Olive has a nice full flavor.. at least the ones I've tried. The Vlassic spicy ones are alright but ever since I had Mt. Olive in Ohio that's all I buy!
I use to go for Del Dixi and Claussen only..but now I’m obsessed with Mt. Olive kosher dills. My bf bought them one day and I got hooked, something about the flavor..and they go well with chips, I tried Vlassic, they were ok but not as good as Mt. Olive.
My dad was one of the drivers for Mt.olive Pickles years ago and I have always loved them since I was a kid don’t care for any other brand but I have tried others
I’ve become so disappointed with these stores because Mt. Olive has taken over. I’ve tasted it and I just hate the flavor. Bring back my Vlasic pickles.
I really like mt. Olive dill pickles my whole life but one time I figured out that the classic valley ones are a little disgusting the little jar with the duck on it is really disturbing and mt. Olive dill pickles has no mascot on the jar and tastes better whatever they put in these pickles are better.
I just bought a jar of Vlasic dill sandwich pickles, the round kind you get on burgers and paid $2.50 at Walmart, I absolutely love Vlasic! Mt. Olive pickles aren't nearly sour enough for me, they taste so dull to me
I agree the Vlassic would go better on a burger or something to that effect. Mt. Olive would be too overpowered by the other flavors. However by itself I prefer Mt. Olive.
My thoughts exactly. I've always been a pickle lover, but I never really tried vlasic until just recently and I don't like it. That's saying a lot because I've tried a lot of pickle brands and I've never really had a problem until vlasic
Vlasic pickles is a JOKE!!! "That's One Crunchy Pickle" !!!!???? Their the most soggy, soft pickle I have EVER eaten! I've bought Mt Olive for years, but kept hearing about Vlasic. Absolutely Junk!! Not even worth the money.
Does anyone know why Vlasic is now selling 16 oz of Polish dill spears in the same 24 oz jar ??? The first thing I do when I open a bottle of spears is to put them in a much more narrow 16 oz jar. I have noticed recently that when I do this now, there are no extra pickles left over in the larger jar. Why are they still selling these pickles in a much larger jar than they need ? I don't need all this extra pickle juice. The jar is literally 50% bigger than it needs to be and is also annoying to try and fit in our refrigerator door. WRZ 2021-08-12
Do you like pickled eggs? Put eggs, that have been hard-boiled and the shell peeled; then, put them in the leftover pickle juice and into the refrigerator to pickle. Same thing with various types of sauce like pepperocini, cocktail onion juice, etc. Whatever type vinegar sauce you like.
The pasteurization process of the Vlasic pickle is determined by "drain weight" and head space. If there are too many cucumbers in the jar the product will not cook properly possibly leading to spoilage and an undercooked product.
You obviously know a lot more about this than me but I am still annoyed that the same size bottle used to be sold with significantly more pickles a few years ago.
