I would LOVE to read something like this, but I'm a little iffie about Shiro dying for real (only 'cause I'm weak and hate to break up families and have been have been obsessed with Keith/Shiro brother fics), so instead maybe give him a major injury, or put him in a coma, or do something he has to recover from physically and mentally (maybe on some space hospital, separated from his team and family) while Keith steps up to be the leader, making Shiro take a backseat commander/mentor/strategist type role.

I personally think that if VLD had an actual main character it should’ve been Lance because that’s what they were setting it up as (but they didn’t go through with it!!!!). But if you want Keith to be the main character in your rewrite, that’d be pretty cool

Rhapsody here: Yeah, that was my thought too. Lance definitely gives off more main character energy, hence he was paired with Allura, the leading lady, BUT Bloodrayne believes that since Kieth has more of an arc and in depth character development, he's a slightly better choice, and I mean, I can see it--sure--(but between you and me Kieth is also her favourite character, sooooo...) lol. I think she's doing well with it so far.

Ok, character and motivation are my ABSOLUTE favorite things to talk/read/watch, and I really loved your way of going about it, and hearing your thought process! I know nothing about these characters but you made me feel incredibly invested and emotionally immersed!👌✨ I agree that Keith is the most interesting character and he probably would have been my fav (He gives major Hufflepuff vibes), and honestly it’s your re-write I see nothing wrong with making him the main character (but whatever you choose to do would will be amazing). I would definitely read your fanfic if you ever made one 😄👍 (P.s. loved all the musicals utilized in this vid, great taste 👌)

Yeah i have to disagree. Keith at the end became such an annoying mary sue and has all the faults they complained about Allura (while not the magic thing it is definately bullshit that the guy who abandons everyone at a drop of hat is suddenly a great and amazing leader despite not showing any of such skills before or after he became black paladin that wasnt yelling at everyone). Not only that but the reason the vld became such a shitshow was because rather than write a balanced story focusing on everyone they made Keith focused show where he can do no wrong and really everything wrong around him was because everyone else is a jerk to him and also he has such a sad backstory. (And lets not even get into racist undertones of the show that is a whole other topic) I did enjoy this video and agree with a number of things but you can not really talk about wrongs of the show without talking about why it went wrong. Obviously you are free to like whatever character you want and people are allowed to be focused towards them, but i just felt this video was a bit biased and still leaned into some of the major problems of the show (though it is still much much more preferable then the canon)

@@keeratkahlon9035 oh, I didn’t know. I’ve never seen the show before, I was more commenting on the description of the character from this video and how Bloodrayne said she would write him. He just sounded like he would be a really interesting character if written correctly, that’s all I meant 👍

I’m really glad you brought some hard-hitting criticism for Pidge. I never really knew why but I didn’t really like how she was portrayed on the show but could never pin point to why until I realized; Pidge was made as the smartest character for her age yet it never felt organic or fitting for her being a teenager born and raised on Earth dealing with magical space science. 💀 She would always seem to just figure it out, have stuff on hand, or have this level of intelligence that didn’t feel built up in a way I could get. I also didn’t like how her arc about “trusting others and relying on people” was told instead of shown. (I also didn’t like how she was mean to certain characters like Lance. I get Pidge disliking his big ego, it’s been confirmed on the Wiki but her making fun of his intelligence and crush on Allura felt tone-deaf since he was deeply insecure/depressed over those things. :/) I used to like the potential for the Garrison Trio in S1 and I still LOVE the natural friendship/close bond with Hunk. (😉) But the whole trio thing was lost except for the episode of them playing with a sentry. It became less believable after. I really wished these themes were executed better, maybe with your ideas would’ve made it far more interesting on the show.

Also if I could say, Keith’s whole training with the Blade of Marmora was undercooked. I remember being a Keith fan (even having a OC of his mom before Krolia was revealed), and binging SO many fanfics of Keith having a decline or shift in the BOM due to their strict standards, deeming certain qualities as weakness and missing his friends. All of it shoved to the side or offscreen. 😭

Kieth and Lotor were rivals in the original Voltron another aspect that fueled that rivalry was Allura liking Kieth and Lotor Liking Allura which I hate that LOD cut out.

YES I would LOVE to read a fanfic of this! 😍 (I want to write one myself, but…. Yeah I have 10 billion projects already going) I’ve actually never thought of Lotor and Keith having more of a relationship/rivalry before, but now I want that! That would be awesome! I’ve always thought it would be nice if they found the lions more gradually… like, an episode/book focused on each of the paladins taking longer to find their lions, having more of a challenge to do it, and getting more fleshed out as characters along the way.

A lot of the character stuff sounds great, though I disagree about how they group would handle Keith's Galra reveal. While I do think allura would not handle it well at all, I don't think the others would do so. Allura and Coran, especially allura would not handle it well, though I believe Coran wouldn't be as distrusting as Allura because he at one point in time knew the Galra far better than Allura could have as someone much younger than him. I'm sure he'd be the wiser one of the two. He'd be upset, but after thinking on it, he'd accept keith anyway. Keith's friends however, I think the only one among them that would grow to dislike him more would be lance because of their already established rivalry, but aside from that, they grew up around keith even if they weren't exactly friends then. Hunk and Pidge would most likely be awkward, but they wouldn't reject him. Hunk is just a nervous guy, but his heart wouldn't make him reject keith. Pidge, although has a bone to pick with Galra thanks to them taking her family away, Pidge isn't stupid. Keith grew up on earth like anyone else, so why would him learning about being Galra change all that they've been through? I agree that the group needed more time to process the revelation that Keith is half Galra, but I don't think all of them would reject him. That's not realistic.

btw - would like Lance to have the next types of dynamics with: Shiro - Wally West and John Stewart (Shiro sees him as a good person in the end of the day. +Lance is to Shiro's amazement pretty empathic and helps gets him open up just a little more about his PTSD, so that it takes more than one Keith to work that out) Pidge - Wally West with Artemis (haters to lovers with sassy girl and dumb-but-smart good guy. one is a real-ass techie, the second might be uneducated, but really great, when you explain him the drill. that's why good at languages), +Ezra and Sabine (partners in crime) Keith - Sokka and Zuko typo bros (a lot of similarities, like piloting, precision and decision-making during a fight. but some core differences. Keith is a natural genius, Lance has to keep up, which makes him think twice. Also partners in crime - they two with Pidge could be regular trouble-makers) Hunk - Jean and Connie. could fear, could not get some stuff, but keep going and helping each other with that) Allura - from crush (which is really Lance's way to achieve something) to sorta Sokka and Katara. Allura could also regularly give Lance some advices on magic, which could help Lance better connect with his lion and manipulate his bayard (like summoning it from

Yay! You made part 2! I watched your 1st one some time ago, really liked your ideas, and waited for your part 2 to come out. The video influenced me into re-writing/worldbuilding a lot now (I'm even trying to make a novel-series that I want to write.) Also, I would love to read your fan-fiction of Voltron!

Killing off Shiro completely is a really big no-no in writing. You can’t open a show with a character like him as the focal point just to three-point him into a trash can a few episodes later, but it would also be kind of disrespectful to kill off the gay, disabled, traumatized, mentally-ill, non-white war vet/prison survivor. I understand he has a disease, and it would be realistic for him pass away due to it, but this is a children’s cartoon we’re talking about. There has to be a narratively satisfying way to slow down or outright cure him without needing a clone arc.

I have been looking forward to this video for a while now, yes i would love to read your rewrite, and i agree, the biggest problem about Voltron is the lack of build up or motivation for characters to do or say something and the lack of consequence that comes from said line or action.

the thing is missing is on the show is a evil inner voice, im still processing why do Zarkon needs the quintessence, for what they didn't show that they drink it or anything in my Fanfiction of VLD My is Voltron Legend Defender of the Universe i made all the Glara all like demon like and there bugs on there neck that corrupted them so they need quintessence to survive and those that don't have are the spy/blade of Marmora

Can I help you animate this, I’ll do for free too lol I’ve been wanting to rewrite voltron for so long but my passion is art and 2D animation (I’m still learning but I plan on making a short film soon as a study project so I can get better at animation) either way it would be SO COOL to see this as a partly animated series or even a webcomic. Your rewrite so far touches everything I would want changed and I love this version of Voltron you are creating. Keep up the amazing work and I can’t wait to see where this project goes. My one complaint I think Kieth is 6ft after he comes back from his mission but I can under stand if you cut that out P.S I think making Kieth taller than lance would improve the rivalry

Well, 5' 9" is just his height at the start of the series. By the end he's taller. (Lance definitely holds that one inch over Keith's head at first tho lol)

I don't think a show needs to put entire focus on main character. It can sometimes ruin the story. Season 7 of voltron put it on Keith and it lead to fiew mary-sue moments. Like why Keith was able to summond his bayard with power of will but others couldn't. It was never explained. Or why was he so mean to Lance during show game, or why does his space-mad self sounds more reasonable. Team didn,t contact him during his time in blades. None of that was explaind or explored. It all felt forsed. With Allura I agree. She,s too OP in VLD wersion. But I also don't like her 80's DOTU wersion cuz she was worst than Hinata from Naruto #USELESS. But japanise version got it right, by making her go from princess to hero. I also like villans from Voltron forse, but I don,t like good guys. IDK they are just forgatable to me. Plus it,s just a spin of of 80 voltron soo.. It,s just semi-canon, like Batman Beyond. (No offence BB is great) But there is one voltron villan that is canon for me in Every voltron version, and that is Merla the queen of darkness. She,s just epic. Also Shiro could come back just in more sensesible way. Like they could freaze him or whatever. Still would be better than canon.
