Yes, and it's the same name in Dutch too! I should have known that. 😉 But, I watch a lot of British gardening programs and they often call it Lady in the Bath, because when you turn them upside down it looks like a figure is sitting in an old bathtub. Thank you Susan 🥳

Happy 100 vlogs. It's called a "crosscut sled." I use one of my table saws for cross cuts and the other for rip cutting because it was just such a hassle to go back and forth between those cuts on one saw. It looks like you might be doing that also. I recently sanded the top of my thumb off on my disc sander, so I can attest to just how much that hurts. And I was lucky as I pulled away very quickly. I think with a heavy grit sandpaper it could sand right down to the bone in a very short time. Micro Mark is not Proxxon although they used to sell some Proxxon items (less and less these days) as they have their own line of tools called Microlux. Quality is sometimes the same as Proxxon, sometimes slightly better, sometimes not as good. For instance, Micro Mark mini chop saw is much cheaper but also much less quality and ease of handling than Proxxon. I wish I had spent the money for the latter. But Micro Mark milling machines very high quality. But also VERY expensive. Best to shop between them carefully and read reviews when ever possible. Neither tablesaw is anywhere near as good as your Burns Model Machine one. Prices reflect this also. Thank you for doing this review of your power tools as most RU-vid miniaturists do not use these so, if one does, we are just out of luck on pointers and tutorials on them. Not that we don't love all the non-power tool vids. They are also wonderful. The more the merrier.

@@MakeMiniatures Thank you for such a great vlog. I'm still hoping you'll do demos on lots of those tools for people who are unfamiliar. Maybe some advice as to which ones to try first for those who are timid. And what each one can do in more detail. (Can you tell I am trying to con you into that teaching role I suggested some time back. You've already taught so much in other arenas. Maybe now this one.

Haha! I will Mary Kay! I have some ideas for small projects showing how to use some of the machines. And other machines I can show while I'm making furniture for the big project I'm working on this year. It will happen. 😉

Your workshop is Quite Impressive and I've enjoyed seeing your desktop and your workbench with its various power tools, however what has stuck with me the most, is your use of lower kitchen drawer storage which is not only functional but Really Pretty too! Wishing you a VERY Happy Birthday Josje 🎉AND here's to your next 💯 Vlogs. May they all be as Beautifully presented and as Greatly Appreciated as your first one hundred have been! ❤

Thank you very much for the tour. It was interesting to see how your work shop has ‘evolved’ to suit your work practices. Have picked up a few ideas I will copy👏. Congratulations on your 100th video and your birthday tomorrow (allowing for time differences in hemispheres 😊). Also thank you to the people who post comments and your thoughtful answers Josje, all of which are much appreciated because they add to the sense of a community as well as providing a forum for discussion and sharing knowledge.

Ok, I'm drooling, after seeing all those lovely machines. 😀 The duplicator, for the Taig lathe , would be high on my want list. I love how you can move from one tool station to another station so easily when working on a project. How handy to be able to cut your own wood on the bandsaw! You have a great area to create your wonderful minis. Love it! Thank you for the tour. Gelukkige Verjaardag op Maandag.🎉🎊

It's a very practical set-up with all of the tools lined up in an L-shape. I forgot to mention that I always stand while using them. All of the machine work surfaces are at elbow height for me, which makes them comfortable to use. I don't have to bend my back and I can see what I'm doing very well. The only machine I often use sitting down is my lathe. Thank you en dank je wel voor de felicitatie Urbania! 😃

Dear Josje, Best wishes for a very happy birthday on the 22! Do hope you will celebrate. The Spring flowers are lovely. I noted today that my lilac is just beginning to open and yes, the fragrance is wonderful. I laughed when I saw the Lady in the Bath. I had not heard them called that as I know them as Bleeding Heart in BC, Canada. I did look them up and saw some great pics of the “lady”. Thank you for the tour in your workshop. It is remarkable how much you can fit into a space when one does minis! I look forward to the Questions and Answer video. Regards Janine

Thank you very much Janine! I had a lovely day. Quite cold, far too cold to sit in the garden, which is unusual on my birthday, but still sunny. I watch a lot of British gardening programs (Gardener's World of course) and they often call Dicentra Spectabilis 'Lady in the Bath'. I assume you've seen why it is called Lady in the Bath. In Dutch it is called 'Gebroken hartje' (broken heart) Also 'Tranend hartje' (tearful heart) and 'Bloedend hartje' (bleeding heart). There's another Dicentra, (Dicentra cucullaria) that has the common name of Dutchman's breeches, which I also love! Such wonderful names. 🥳

Congrats on your 100th blog! Love all your work, tutorials, etc. ❤️. Those GORGEOUS flowers on your desk. Bleeding hearts (“lady in the bath” - never heard that name - love it!) and lilacs … 2 of my most favorite flowers. Thank you for this gift of Spring - it has yet to arrive here on the little mountain in Idaho (USA) where we live. We actually had snowflakes the last few days. Today, thankfully, it’s sunny and lovely. Happy Birthday! My birthday - next month - always coincides with lilacs blooming here! Morel mushroom season begins at that same time too - can’t wait to forage! (and eat, of course!) Love seeing your set up/miniature studio - how fabulous! ALL of your MANY drawers are especially wonderful! I’m always fascinated to see others’ creative spaces. Yours is incredible! What a huge amount of space you have! My studio is much smaller and I’m frequently having to go through things so I don’t get overwhelmed with too much “stuff!” It’s so easy (for me, at least) to accumulate things to use in making minis. At some point I had to admit I don’t need another pill bottle lid … for maybe 5 years! Haha! 😊 Thanks for a fabulous video! Enjoy your birthday! 🎂❣️ Kathleen PS Yes, my desk is always a mess -- immediately! On the wall above it, I hung a sign that a sweet friend gave me that says, “a messy desk is the sign of a creative genius.” 👍
@MakeMiniatures
@MakeMiniatures 3 месяца назад
Thank you so much! 🥳 Sounds wonderful to be able to forage for mushrooms. Officially it's not allowed here, although they won't fine you if it's less than 250 grams. 'Lady in the Bath' must be a British name then? I watch a lot of British gardening programs, Gardener's World is one of them. They are called 'Lady in the Bath' because when you turn the flower upside down it looks like a figure in an old-fashioned bathtub. There's another Dicentra, (Dicentra cucullaria, native to North America) that has the common name of Dutchman's breeches, for obvious reasons. Wonderful names. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Even though my studio is a good size, it is still overflowing with stuff. I think collecting materials is almost a requisite of being a miniaturist 😂 And I'm going to adopt that explanation for a messy desk. There must be so many geniuses in this world! 😉 Thanks Kathleen!
@papabear2515
@papabear2515 3 месяца назад
@@MakeMiniatures yes, I do so love the names of so many of the flowers. Your “lady of the bath” is called “Bleeding Hearts” here due to its heart like shape and its “red blood.” We also “open up the flower” and see a “Princess” whose heart is bleeding from grief! When I was a child growing up in the country, we played in fields and forests of wildflowers. I remember Dutchman’s breaches and we also made dolls from hollyhock flower blooms. We would like them up on our kitchen windowsill and name each one - Tilly, Ella, and the like! Such fun! We have a wildflower here called “fairy slipper” that has a tiny lavender wild flower (that looks just like one would imagine a fairy’s slipper would look) that appears at the same time as our morels. The fairy slippers are the first indicators that morel season is nigh! And, then shortly thereafter, the lilacs bloom in all their lavender glory! No wonder Spring is my favorite season! Yes, you are so right … collecting, accumulating and holding on to “potential” is all part and parcel for us miniaturists, isn’t it? Thanks again, so much! I so enjoy every one of your videos - from your warm, welcoming, happy (and delightfully British) voice, to your amazing collection and incredible talents … wow! All the best! Kathleen, Idaho, USA

Hello Josje, Happy 100th vlog 🎉Thank you for showing us around your work room it's amazing, all those wonderful machines 😍 it must have taken you many years to collect them all. I wish I had room to keep my tiny machines out all the time, I do miniatures on my dining table (80x80cm, we live in a very small bungalow) but I am saving up for a large garden workshop, hopefully by the summer I can order it 🤞🏼 then I won't be limiting crafting in between by meal time 😊 Best wishes from Yorkshire, England 🇬🇧 😊
