Vlog 19: Installing a Carbon Fiber Trunk Spoiler and Mirror Caps on an F80 BMW M3

I know this video is old but just in case others see this. You can use a 3M Eraser Wheel to remove the leftover adhesive. It's amazing! I just removed my F80 "mini" spoiler and installed a CS trunk spoiler! Cheers!

I have been watching other people install their rear spoiler and to me it's asking for trouble misalignment. However, I like your method the best install of rear spoiler it's so simple and accurate. Thank you for sharing! Now, I know the best way to install. Oh by the way, the most easiest way to remove GOO & ADHESIVE without hurting the paint finish is "GOO GONE!" it would have saved you time in adhesive removal. Just saying. : )

Tommy: Thank you ! You Rock, I just picked up a "Alpine White" 16 M2 and I just changed out the OEM spoiler w/ a Carbon Fiber M4 V-type. I watched your video and it used your tips.Now that I have the CF spoiler I just ordered the mirror caps. Your M3 is awesome, the CF bits look fantastic !! I may get my roof wrapped at some point to get your look of M2's big brothers.

Good Video and super nice car!!! Tip. Use lacquer thinner to remove the glue. Won't hurt the clear coat. Wax over before putting new spoiler on. Will save you a bunch of time. Same with debadging. Heat guns are dangerous on the paint. They use heat guns to remove finish in furniture refinishing and it's too easy to get the paint too hot. Good luck.

3M eraser wheel will make your life much easier removing the Glue :) it’s used with a cordless drill :)

I have a fire orange M3, and the previous owner included a carbon fiber spoiler lip not installed, can you believe a shop tried to charge me $200 dollars for installation when it took me maybe an hour of elbow grease? Bruh

I done the spoiler on my M2C last week and you don’t need the heat gun/blow dryer or the painters tape. Also, use 4 strands of dental floss so it doesn’t break

Love your vids. Not sure that is the best method to remove the mirror caps though. If you pop the glass out using a plastic trim tool, you can then squeeze the clips from inside and the cover slides off.

Should really use more tape / press the tape down super firmly and hold to seat it fully and bond the adhesive properly / eliminate air bubbles etc. Also for the pencil on mirror trick advised to AT LEAST put like a peice of masking tape on the back of the pencil first to protect the paint. But great video man :)

Big mistake saying that once the rear diffuser is put on that the exterior will be complete. There is always something else to modify and change! haha

Im debating to get M4 style spoiler or M performance...i like ures..less aggressive but a clean and nice look 👌M4 style is abit bigger i feel but not as big as CS style..im confused now what style of spoiler to go with :(

They very tips (ends) of the spoiler don't seem to be all the way flush on the trunk.

Carbon Fiber Hood with vents then wrap the hood like the same body color but leave the carbon vents exposed

Barbarian way of taking off mirror caps!!!! You really should take the mirror glass part off, then push the clips from inside. That is the proper way to do it! You never know when you may want to reuse the oem caps. Or u want to put them back on when selling the car. Now u can still use can strong glow to stick the broken clip back on. Not perfect though.

What did you use to clean the glue off of the factor spoiler?! I used tar and bug remover. The glue was more like cement!! I used a plastic credit card to slowly scrape the glue off but it left 3 scratches!! Im so upset. I used drcolorchip touch up paint and it is darker than the factor paint and doesn’t match at all!! Please help! Can your friend help me get the exact touch up paint for the marina blue. I have the same color M3 you have. Please private message me your phone number. I am a Doctor.
