I am one of those people who has been delighted to have you back. I have been moved by your "pocket of happiness" idea (from Richard E Grant and his wife). I know this usually translates into a gratitude moment. For some reason this annoys me, disturbs and hampers me. I find it difficult to find moments of gratitude. But for me this all translates into living in the moment. If one stays in the moment, is aware of the moment, one can actually experience the pocket of joy or moment of gratitude. This I find difficult - I have to constantly stop myself and just be. I wish you a good New Year and as many positive and joyful moments as possible in 2023.

After a particularly difficult time a number of years ago when my mom was losing her battle with dementia and I felt myself becoming embittered, I had to find a way to bring positivity back into my daily life. When I got into bed at night, I consciously acknowledged the things I was grateful for, even if on some days it was difficult to find something. Once I got into that way of thinking, I found more and more things to add to my mental list. This has become a habit now and it’s a comfort to be able to list the blessings I enjoy and many are easy to overlook and take for granted. Thank you, Kate, for speaking about the importance of taking note of the things we are grateful for, it’s very uplifting. Wishing you and yours a year of good health and good time.

I am now the happy owner of a sweater quantity of Ístex Léttlopi for a Riddari Sweater, tiny DPNs for knitting glove fingers, The Hero with a Thousand Faces by Joseph Campbell, and Summer of the Hawthorn by Anne Doughty. One of my yarn aims this year is to use up all my acrylic and Drops yarn and never buy more of it again. I want to make room for some of that lovely yarn from indie dyers. RESTORE is such a good word for 2023. I'm in agreement with you for this.

Kate , its lovely seeing you back and your vlogmas was lovely to follow, so 'normal' and 'relatable' in the nicest possible way. I remember you say once that you stress over spending equal amounts on each child etc -i too always overthink this and I have 4 ......although its getting better as we have a family /individual wish list of desired gifts and once most is covered on the list somehow it evens itself out and mine are exactly the same , they do not count or compare the cost , its just me 'balancing things up'!!. I do very similar Advents to you , for 4 plus my husband and things like the socks/ undies and a can of drink etc are all things that can feature and I absolutely love doing them, and this year it seemed to bring me more joy than ever! For the first time I am joining in with the 12 hidden skeins of yarn for the lucky dip KAL and it will be such good fun . Will look forward to your next podcast x
