Well, I don't know anything about Music production or sound equipment or whatever. What I do know is that Dimash sings this perfectly each time he performs and it certainly is live at the others… I have heard some people mentioning effects in the mic, like reverb? or echoing... but that is just an effect and doesn't change his singing. One of the reasons I love listening to Dimash is that I never worry if he will manage a particular note, or crack his voice or something. In my opinion people doubt he sings live because few others could manage it as perfectly as he does.

They have to nitpick because he IS so good. They can't find anything to complain or improve apon so they find other things to make his performance feel less spectacular.

The New Wave event was entirely prerecorded by contract, so Dimash does occasionally lip sync. Many television performances require a prerecorded track.

@no name Actually, Dimash's ego has nothing to do with this. Dimash openly stated that he sometimes lip-syncs in Russian shows because they don't allow him to sing live.

The audio and video don't match completely but it is live - he performed the song a few times in the last weeks, including at his concert in London you could see him singing on the fancams from different angles and the last performace was again in Russia in some kind of pavilion and it must have been very cold as you could literaly see his breath while he is singing.

The first point to bring to your notice this was a LIVE recording a few days ago from the Kremlin watched LIVE by thousands of people and therefore No Post Production. You answered your own question "it makes me feel as though he's singing LIVE?" and then go on to try and be PC about sync!! As a Vocal coach, you must have heard in your experience changes of different voices in harmony but somehow, you seemed surprised when the voice changed to a different key? Earpiece, please note on ALL Dimash's performances he keeps taking them out it all depends on the event and sound engineers set up. Perhaps this description might help you to understand Dimash's singing capabilities. His voice is Androgynous A voice which is capable of sounding either male or female accurately (often applied to countertenors, sopranists and tenor altini). His transitions of the different voices are incredible which evenly dissipate into the arrangement of the song bringing a 'unique stylised FUSION' of sound to music genres a kind of Neo-Classical, POP OPERA; ROCK OPERA infused with SOUL. His voice has its own unique style with fullness/richness of tone with access to all areas of the range, able to navigate easily between chest, middle and head register and Vocal control throughout the range, no flip-flopping about or straining he is an original and a fantastic singer. . Music, in performance, is a type of sculpture. The air in the performance is sculpted into something by the transitions. SHOW-OFFY as you put it: In a live performance, it's a collaboration with the audience; you ride the ebb and flow of the crowd's energy. In music the passions enjoy themselves. Music is a language that doesn’t speak in particular words. It speaks in emotions, and if it’s in the bones, it’s in the bones. Keep On Keeping On. DKIFC- THE UNITED KINGDOM.

Chill out. She questioned whether or not something had been done to it post production which I believe it has as well - literally a little touch up of clarity/sound isolation, in my opinion, the venue is too large for both vocals and instrumentals/beat to be equally as clear. You're not representing his fans very well in your overly defensive paragraphs and I don't believe he'd be proud of it.

They do post production and compress the audio before airing on television. That's pretty standard these days. Of course, he has no control over that. There is a behind the scenes video about Dimash from when he was on Singer and during that video there is a clip of his Opera 2 performance prior to the post production. You can hear the audience and the room sounds much brighter and his voice sounded the same, only louder. I prefer the preproduction versions as well, which is why I love fan cams. There are some excellent ones out there that I think you would like. I'll see if I can find a good link for you! 😄

After listened to a few of his live performance, I can't stop imagine he is an ultimate vocal instrument with technical might but with little artistic value. I'm looking for a good singer with unique style, may be not for everyone but it is his or her style. I think Dimash is all over the place and he really have to do some deep soul search to find his style to keep singing to old age.

This song was composed by Igor Krutoy and initially written by Lara Fabian in French with the title Je T'Aime Encore. Then it was translated in Russian for Lara and had this english title Love of Tired Swans. She was thus the original performer of this russian version as well. And then Dimash made his cover.

Gonna post this comment in the main comment section because it needs to be said to dispell some of the myth and misinformation surrounding Dimash. I'm by no means taking anything away from Dimash or his talent but..... I sing in a metal band so I know a bit about singing and production (I'm not a sound engineer or producer). I do think his mic probably has some compression (I suspect he uses multiband compression) on it and maybe a touch of reverb and this recording probably underwent some post production touch ups. But there's nothing wrong with that, it's not cheating, at least not in my opinion. Lots and lots of vocalists use different effects on their voice for a number of reasons. Compression is very very common, it essentially evens out the vocal, amplifying quieter sounds and lowering louder sounds. There are lots of types of compression so it's not quite that simple. Reverb basically gives the vocals (or instrument) more body, making it sound fuller and more present. It's hard to explain but reverb essentially creates space around the sound. Ever tried shouting in a tiled room, that tuby/echoey sound is reverb, "the sound of the room." However, reverb can make your vocals drop back in the mix so compression is commonly used alongside it to bring the vocals back up in the mix. These are all just effects to give your vocals or instrument a slightly different quality. Using distortion or fuzz on a guitar doesn't mean you can't play or that you are cheating, it just creates a different sound. Adding reverb or compression to your vocals isn't cheating, it's just colouring your voice to suit the vibe of the song or to help the vocals stand up to the instrumental or acoustics of the venue. It can't give you a 6 octave vocal range and impeccable vocal technique. If you can't sing then no amount of effects are gonna make you sound like Dimash does. It kinda bothers me when people get defensive of Dimash when people bring up the use of effects. I get that you value him and get kinda defensive/protective, but he is a human and the human voice sometimes needs a helping hand. His voice is incredible! I believe that he sings live most of the time, but I do also believe that he sometimes uses effects on his vocals and that's ok. If you've ever listened to a song without vocal effects (not many exist) you'll notice that it sounds really dry and lifeless against the highly produced soundtrack. Sorry, this was way longer than I intended it to be.
@MrAcidKnight
@MrAcidKnight 5 лет назад
@Just want the Best voice it's been a while since I listened to that song but from what I can remember the instrumental is very minimal. So it would make sense to use less effects or to at least really dial back on them so that they fit the song appropriately. I think that's where a lot of people get confused about the use of effects. If I mention that Dimash is using a certain effect on his vocals people just assume that I'm insulting him or doubting his talent, that's not what I'm doing. Almost every singer on the planet uses some effects to some degree and it's just a way to colour your voice to fit the mood or sound of the song better, it doesn't mean that you can't sing. Especially when it comes to performing on a big stage with a live band behind you. If Dimash was to sing on a dry mic on stage his voice would get drowned out by the instrumental and would sound really thin and lifeless. That doesn't mean he can't sing, it just means that his voice needs to be factored into the mix just like any other instrument would be. The only way you're going to know what Dimash's "true", raw voice sounds like is to sit in a room with him and have him sing acapella with no mic (I wish.)
@MrAcidKnight
@MrAcidKnight 5 лет назад
I just want people to be more realistic and not to hold Dimash on this crazy high pedestal. Don't get me wrong, he deserves it, he's incredible. But.... that's also a lot of pressure. I certainly wouldn't be able to handle that. So I suppose my main concern is for his wellbeing and that the pressure of being "the best singer in the world" doesn't become too much. If everybody was a bit more realistic and accepted that sometimes singers use vocal effects then maybe they wouldn't feel the need to be 100% perfect all the time.

Hello Georgina, just for your information there are 5 performances of this song on RU-vid at this particular moment. The one ☝🏻 you just analyzed together with another one with acrobatics, both at the Kremlin, same day. Afterwards He sung The Love of tired swans live at his London’s concert. Last week again He performed with Igor Krutoy one more Live versión in Russia because he won the Best Song of the year. Right after his performance they both changed clothes and recorded a Christmas Live video around a selective amount of viewers. I will send a link for you to enjoy the Behind the Scene. All 5 versions are live, Dimash refuses to lip sync,. Listen to the breaths in and out thru the microphone. About the earpiece I will ask myself to Maestro Krutoy and will let you know ASAP. Greetings from Miami.

The Honest Vocal Coach The New Foundry Studios Maestro Igor Krutoy is among the best musicians in Russia and the one who wrote the music for this song , originally to be sing by Lara Fabian. He is the man behind the piano. Did you do a reaction for Sinful Passion with Dimash and Studio A? I Igor Krutoy is the man who gives Dimash a standing ovation on first row and the one who invited Dimash to sing at that venue. He introduced Dimash to Russia and it was a cold welcome at Sochi but Dimash just won The sons of the year thanks to Igor Krutoy but mostly thanks to his own exceptional display of vocal abilities. Igor Krutoy third residence is where I work. I’ll be seeing him very soon and will ask him about your concerns.

This was a production with producer and composer Igor Kurtoy. Lara Fabian did the song first so this is a cover. I’m not saying they didn’t do anything to the voice, but you’re not looking at a guy who started singing in choir at school or college. At this moment of this song Dimash has over 20 years singing experience and education. He won a contest at 15 yrs after failing to get in 3 years in a row. He won the contest and the prize was a scholarship at the university. He has two masters degrees in classical and contemporary music. Both parents are opera singers and his father a pop singer and producer.raised by his grandparents as is custom for the eldest child in the family.. Dimash has over 100 live performances both on the tube and on his channel. He has perfect pitch and did all of sinful passion live with the AStudopio band and sound an. Look at the venue here. All live music. I think this is the Kremlin. These countries don’t have to use effects for a classically trained singer who has sung live for twenty years. At two he was on stage for a bit part. At five he sang his first song. At five he won his first piano competition. It’s not that might have put effects on the song afterwards, it’s that where they are singing in the best hall in the world they had the equipment to do it live. Because dimash can play nine instrument and sing in twelve languages by ear and by note he could tell or write the sheet music for any instrument or background vocals. He is a master musician in his doctorate who practices vocally 3 hours a day with or without a vocal coach. He doesn’t have to have auto tune which doesn’t work for people changing octaves like he does. But, he doesn’t need it. Go back or on your own and listen to Sinful passion and remember that it’s all live by Dimash and the AStudio band where they’re all master musicians. Igor would have collated with dimash. He is a billionaire producer from Russia who came out of retirement to be dimashs mentor and pianist. They collab.

I know Dimash doesn't do lip syncing. I do believe there is some touch up on some videos in terms of sound maybe eliminating the undesirable noise and other minor touch ups to enhance the effects on sound quality especially those from the competition The Singer. But he definitely sings live. There are videos taken by fans right there that are probably a bit noisier and have poorer sound quality other than that pretty much the same. Please don't say he lip sync. That is an absolute insult to him.

I'd imagine there is some post production going on seeing it's Russian TV with Russian Brass sitting there but I can't believe there can be too much done with his voice. The challenge would be to keep up with his great tones. Feels fairly honest.

That's not the world record. The world record is a G10 and it isn't even audible to the human ear.

Dimash is a perfectionist whether anyone likes it or not....We have heard him sing songs in rehearsal and live and it can be hard to detect the inflections....

this wasn't post produced, it was fully lipped. He has some live versions of this song though, and he sounds as amazing.

ah, finally someone that hears it as well. yes, it is live, but there are differences between his performances, and this is definitively one of the good ones, where the sound engineer knew what he was doing. its not raw, but for such an occasion, should it be? i enjoy good sound mixing, its part of the package...

If you are truly a vocal coach you should know the difference between real and dubbed. I understand Dimash is so amazing that it is hard to comprehend. But he is the real thing and you should listen to several versions of the same song that he sings. Then I would appreciate an apology. Sorry, but I have been watching Dimash since he started on Singer and know his singing upside down and backwards. I have watched everything on You Tube that he has done, so am a bit passionate about him.

Hello, thank you for your video. Dimash sings always live that’s who he is and how he is ! May be if you travel to Kazakhstan and listen how Kazakh people sing just suggestion, if you would like may be then you have more understanding and have some idea that he sings live. Dimash always invites “Welcome to Kazakhstan” And if you listen to signing of Dimash’s mother both of his parents are singers! from Texas 🇰🇿🇺🇸

For sure he is completely able to sing same performance. As a musician I think this is a post production. Audio clarity , instruments, effects... He is a Great singer. Everybody knows but he is a human. This means he can do playback:-)

The audio has been strongly modified after the take. There's a lot of post production going on, of the tipe you can't do on the go. For some reasons, the TV decided to give a very sleek and "plasticised" sound at the performance in post production.

Buenas noches.

I am not sure what to believe because you are a trained vocal teacher and I keep hearing there are video recording phones at live concerts that prove, cause of the proximity to singer, that he is not doing lip-sync. Though, it is a possibility that to avoid mistakes during live show, they decided to lip-sync some parts. In any case. it was a great video.

I watched this when it was live, so no post production. As for lip syncing, Dimash feels strongly about it just like you. If they have asked him to lip sync he walks away from the show,

For reacting as vocal coach position...you should describe and explain how that sound/voice produced, not comment common way like "oh his voice change" etc..even ordinary people can comment like that without as vocal coach.. I would like to say sorry for your student if they have a coach like you...please take a look Rebecca who from same country as yours..she is a good example for how to react as in her title...
