Cannot believe there isnt a single vocal coach that has reacted to Shinedown Simpleman in some dude's living room...unbelievable vocals..hard to beat Brent Smith's pipes!

I love shinedown. They're definitely more of a rock/metal band - this is one of their much softer songs. For sure check out 'Sound of Madness,' '45,' and 'Bully!' :)

Brent Smith has famously said he's never had a vocal lesson. They were very traditionally a hard rock group. By the third album Zack Myers had joined the band and geve them a really genius musician that helped them grow into what they are today.

Shine down is a great band and a song you need to hear is Simple Man they covered by Lynyrd Skynyrd .

This is by far my favorite band. Shinedown usually is a hard rock/metal band but they have these really soulful slow songs they play too. That’s part of why I love them so much because their range in styles is amazing!

Shinedown is a really great show live, the vibe in the crowd is very surreal and unlike any other band I've seen. Brent Smith is a really great frontman, and is really great at interacting with the crowd.

In my opinion one of the best male singers ever. Brent has some major chops. Just saw them in New Orleans and he sounds just like this live. I would love to hear him sing some country songs.

Shinedown is probably one of the biggest/long running band in modern rock (90's and on.) Brent Smith initially signed with a band and the label made him drop the band and signed him to create a new band around his voice.

Shinedown is awesome, and fairly mainstream on the US rock charts. Miracle is another of my favorites from them out of their softer songs. Her name is Alice on the heavier and darker side.

Shine down does great live, i saw em recently at aftershock. Simpleman 45 Second Chance Sound of Madness are some of there more famous songs. Great to hear their range and strength with their style

Thank you for listening to my favorite band! I love Brent Smith! Both the bassist/pianist & the guitarist provide good harmony. Shinedown writes a variety of song styles. This one is on the softer side, but they can really rock out! They have the 2nd most gold singles in rock (Three Days Grace has just one more). They have also crossed over to the Mainstream Charts with songs like, "If You Only Knew" and "The Crow and the Butterfly." They have so many songs & styles to choose from! Six albums since 2003. Their 3rd album solidified the current lineup in 2008. Great live shows! harder- "Attention! Attention!" is called "Devil." There is a variety; soft side, hard rock and everything in between. Their latest song, "Get Up" deals with clinical depression, which one band member struggles with. I'd love for you to review another Shinedown song. you would LOVE any of their live shows, especially accoustic stuff. and you see they are everything from Blues to Metal, and they do some amazing work. they can get aggressive or make you warm and home feeling. they were a treat to see in Kansas City, and I think that entire concert is on here. they played lots of songs and told us the story behind them. from being addicts to cleaning up and family life and friends

He is one of the most amazing rock singers for a long time. his voice just stays with you.

Brent is actually from Knoxville, TN originally and that being said many musicians from the south pick up, blues and Country influences sometimes inadvertently. Many call that a genre of southern rock. He has covered another famous Southern Rock band, Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Simple Man". Listen to the original before his to see how amazing his version is.

Shinedown is definitely a rock band but they do have a few ballads like this one. But the power of Brent's voice is impressive. You gotta do one of their harder songs and really listen to him belt it out. He sounds absolutely perfect live. Ive seen shinedown twice and his acoustic thing with Zach once. All 3 times I've heard him sing live I was so blown away by him. But yeah no one sounds like him. His tennnesee accent makes their stuff sound almost country but he was inspired by blues and it shows. He has his own style and I wish more vocal coaches react to him.

I've seen them live. his voice is just as strong live as on a record. And this is a mellow version of one of the softer songs. he really belts out notes when they rock out. Good band!

Shinedown is one of the biggest bands in the world. They are from Jacksonville, the same hometown as Lynyrd Skynyrd and 38 Special so that will explain his country sound.

Since you're in the UK, Beth, you're probably acquainted with Planet Rock radio. I listen to it regularly and I remember clearly the first time I heard Shinedown because the singer's voice sounded different, like in a unique way. I don't know much about them or their work because they're not my "cup of tea" but everytime Planet Rock plays one of their songs I immediately know it's Shinedown. He's got one of those distinctive voices. : )

Just cruising cyber streets and wanted to comment quickly here. Shinedown, being my absolute most favorite band, is actually one of the older (20 yrs on global superstardom) global rock bands out of Tennessee, so there is a country motif I suppose. However, it's crucial to point out that in the early years, they were definitely rock. Nowadays, I think they let the music guide them through their personal life stories. And they always say that they write their songs in acoustic before ever going to electric rock. If you haven't looked further, I highly request you do. Song seek...their best, first single, 45
