let's be real. in this song, it is not all about bruno mars and his voice we appreciate, its the whole performance. The backup singer , anderson , bruno , choreo , instrument , effects, song etc. EVERYTHING!!!
Anderson.Paak plays the drums and sings at the same time which is crazy hard to do well. His tiny desk or any live concert performance showcases this better.
@@jimmyteriyaki9783 Agree to disagree I can play guitar and sing it's not that hard. But percussions vs keys are not really close in terms of musicality and vocalizing. For example playing piano at a very high level and singing opera crazy hard. Getting drunk and playing Wild Thang at my cousins wedding on the piano no hard lol. Musicians demonstrating their mastery of their art is something we all can appreciate.
Is anyone going to comment on the fact that Bruno went to an E Flat ABOVE High C in FULL VOICE in a live performance? The vocal chops to do that in the first place are almost impossible, but the courage to do it LIVE on the Grammy's..., ..., I have no words to describe my utter AWE. I have been singing professionally for over 30 years, and it makes me question if I will ever consider myself a good singer anymore.
I believe Bruno Mars hasn’t reached his peak yet. He has so much more to give. Vocally and performance-wise. We haven’t had a great male performer in a while who leads the pack. If I can say Michael Jackson was the last. Justin and usher almost. It’s time for Bruno to take center and lead
@@jimmyteriyaki9783 lol super bowl was lame, i saw him live a couple of years ago and abel is insane on stage ... im not a professional but its all about his confidence, yo search for his concert on Dublin like 5 or 6 years ago, he is for sure a bit wasted on alcohol maybe but he is FULL OF CONFIDENCE
Never seen your page or videos before, but I came across this and I LOVE your analysis and breakdown of the singing. I feel like ANYBODY can just react to music, but very few actually understand there’s a science to singing that makes great ones GREAT. And you explain that so well.
Yes, most reaction videos are so useless because it's typically just someone grooving to the music and then saying "I liked it!" -- they usually don't have much music knowledge so they have no insightful comments.
I appreciated the mini lessons on how the fellas achieved some of those sounds. Pauses should be expected, the caption says [Vocal Coach] after all. Please analyze the non Grammy version, I believe it'd be worth your while.
The way that Anderson flows in that performance is totally different than the studio version yet he is perfectly tight. He changes the phrasing rhythm all over the place yet it's absolutely spot-on timing and pitch wise... He sings like a drummer I guess :)
That face at 11:42 is what we officially call "The Stank Face". This is the face Ive had the ENTIRE video. This is how you know for sure that they are killing it.
YES!!! It's impossible to hear this and not pull at least ONE stank face..... The first time I heard this my face was like that the whole time..... It's been on repeat and now the wind has changed so my face has stayed like this. Oh dear 🤣🤣🤣
Nice breakdown of the song! My sisters and I were teens in the 70's, dancing and singing to old school soul and R&B on the radio, and this performance brings me right back to those days. Just love this song!
You should check the official video. There are some variations during the song if you compare it to this live performance. And the aesthetics of the video are simply amazing. Colors, camera movements, acting... everything’s so 70s!
Bruno is like Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson having kid... he loves to play at high registers, his techniques on that are flawless... .Paak protected his spotlight in this version by his unique vocal, since he is not playing drum likes in the official video... they should stay together for few project... 😊
Very late on seeing this reaction but I must say that I LOVE that you came outta that reaction looking so pleasantly exerted and taking a deep breathing exhale, like it was a true experience! As someone who has seen them perform this live, I will say that that is EXACTLY how I came out of the concert, lol. Brava! Great video.
Thanks for the professional comments on this performance! The song is my new best song 🎵 forever! I love 💘 everything about it! Bruno's vocals can only be compared to music royalty! 🎶 Anderson sings so witty and soulful! The harmonies and choreography add to the sultry feeling of this type of music reminiscent of the 70s! I can not stop listening to it!
From a 1st timer around your channel: adorable facial expressions and reactions. This is, undoubtedly, a massive duet, and their recent performance on the iHeartRadio Music Awards is even more engaging...
This was amazing. Not only how raw your reaction was but also how much I learned as a singer just by watching your reaction. Please keep posting as much as you comfortably can! 😊😍❤️
The way Anderson started that second verse and your reaction to it.. was just like mine. Sounded extra sweet but try to copy it.. that’s style and stamping the track with his signature. Being with Bruno is opening up his potential
and, bruno loving it, pushing, spotlighting, encouraging Anderson all the way. It's so cool to watch. Best band, group, duo in a very long time. all really practicing their skills delivering it to us perfectly. My god, Bruno Mars is a vocal and musical genius. Wonder how the dude feels who dismissed Bruno saying, "didn't and couldn't figure out how to market him." No one needs to market Bruno Mars give him a microphone, let his gifts shine thru. THEY'RE CHANGING MUSIC WITH SWAG AND CLASS. BRAVO!
Love your reaction and the explanation! A new subscriber here ;) This song is so hard to sing but so easy to listen to because as you said they controlled their voices so well to keep it light (and playful).
between 7:49 to 7:52...realizing Bruno's voice IS the S**T. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 love it. the best reaction by a vocal coach i've seen so far here, on this performance. 😁
idk why but i feel like the end of them singing "...imma leave the door open for...you" it just sounds like the ending of a disney film or disney characters signing
I like your reaction. (RU-vid chose you for me to watch, and I'm happy for that). You should watch and listen to Anderson Paak's tiny desk performance from 2016!
Great reaction! I like your facial expressions. lol I love this song and their performances at the Grammy's. I like this better than Cardi B's performance. lol Bruno is an incredible singer!
Loved your review. I hope you get the chance to see the music video, with Anderson on drums and Bruno on piano. Albeit, it may be a studio production, but the vocal differences and nuances compliment the songs arrangement. 😎🍷🎶
Ok my Gosh THIS!!!! I was smiling the whole time! Great reaction! I subscribed. Could I suggest a reaction to Pentatonix? If you like live, I'd suggest reacting to them singing Hallelujah live on their Christmas show. My other favorite of new music is Amazing Grace. If you love harmonies you will love all of their music. They are an acapella group. Thanks!
I loved your reaction ...its true we missed the 70's and 80's song...now bruno mars bring it now in the mids of pandemic...atleast were enjoyed listening in youtube everyday..
This is a VERY wellknown style! Go and listen to 1970s Philadelphia soul (the Spinners, the Stylistics, production by Thom Bell, songwriting by Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff). Anderson and Bruno follow worthily in a well-trodden, and beautiful, path.
Loving your knowledge, voice, and fan-girl reaction to this! Men of younger generations...this is what real "panty dropping" songs sound like - unlike what I hear in rap music of today. It's time to UP your game fellas...lol. When it comes to sex..."Men are like microwave ovens (Quick to start) and we women are like regular ovens (take time to heat up)". Fellas, if you want to up your game you need to engage our hearts and brains by making us yearn for you, show us you'll cherish what we share with you, and take the time to heat us up with some romancing vision through your sexy words. We are not VISUALLY turned on like you men are. We are turned on through your actions, words, touch. Check out the lyrics and vibe of this song...it brings all those points across!! We women want to run into this room with the door open after hearing BRUNO and ANDERSON paint such a lovely visual of what can be. All '70s vibe, the stage set up, twinkling lights, clothes, dance moves, hair, mustache - vintage '70s. The "La la la la la" done by Bruno in the chorus and the "Woo Woo Woo" done by Anderson.Paak is a classic 1970's Motown sound as is the fade out of the song at the end. Although I am 63 years old and grew up with what I think was the best music of my generation, the 60's and 70's, I am still in my 30’s in my mind, heart, and spirit due to this kind of music. This song has such a great vibe!!!!! I sort of feel bad for the younger generations as most of their songs don’t evoke romance, yearning for someone, fantasizing of what could be… I sure am glad young folks are making such great music again and that younger people are getting the chance to listen and appreciate real singing.
Jennifer wii you do a reaction / analysis of the video recording version ?... I am sure you like it too. Thanks . BRUNO , you're the best and greatest ❤❤❤
Very good breakdown of this song and all the songs you do! You probably get thousands of people asking you to listen to songs, but there are two I want you to check out. Mike Yung singing Unchained Melody in the New York subway and Paul Williams and The Temptations performing For Once In My Life. Both were sung with a lot of emotion and powerful vocals. Enjoy!
How does Bruno decide to change his intonation, that second passage where he sings I’m leave the door open with the little bit of twang is just special. Here in 2024
A great song and a wonderful performance by both Bruno and Anderson. Your response to this performance is indeed insightful and accurate; and I say this as someone who grew up in the sixties and seventies on Motown, Stax etc. Would you please respond to Vula Malinga's and Quincy Jones' live orchestral performance of Michael Jackson's "Pretty Young Thing"?
Hello! Could please react to Versace On The Floor (by Bruno Mars as well) live at the billboard music awards? Vocals there are INSAAAANE. I enjoyed so much and learned a lot with your reaction! Thank you!
They sang the original differently. I'm betting when they sing this again, it'll be different once more. :) Oh, please, can you react to Rachelle Ann Go & Lea Salonga singing The Movie in my Mind? Thanks!
I love watching vocal coaches watch this video. Can only keep your composure for so long. It's Ok, this is what's known as a panty dropper. It's that good.
