Ciao Beautiful People! This song captured me .. what do you really think about it? What is your fav song of Dimash at the moment? 😘

For me this song is high in the sky, moves me on the level of SOS, leaves Sinful Passion far behind. Frankly, all his Kazakh songs I like more than the songs in Russian, they touch me more, although I speak Russian and not Kazakh. And obviously, they touch HIM more as well, it is obvious from the way he performs them.

LUCIA MY DEAR!........Samaltau. Samale Mountain is a sad song about a young soldier. He sing about what will happen with his family when He goes away about Mountain and Sea. This a tresure song of kazakhstan and Dimash sing this like no one. The musical instrument is from Kazajistán and name KOBIZ . This live performance with his instrumentalists friends is a firm favourite of mine. His live singing is impeccable like always, even sitting cross legged on a piano stool. Streamed from his home, his music room it wen down a storm at his first appearance at the Tokio Jazz Festival although he was disappointed when it was canceled he was overjoyed when they decided to livestream it. Greetings from a Mexican Dear!......❤️🇲🇽🇰🇿

This was performed on his 26th Biirthday on May 24th in his home studio in Astana Kazakhstan for the Tokyo Jazz Festival that had to be online due to the pandemic. Dimash is a native Kazach, who were and in some cases still are a nomadic people, and the instruments have a long history, the Kobyz is a 5,000 year old instrument with two strings made of horsehair, played with a bow also of horsehair. The noises made represent the sounds of the Kazakh Steppe, vast, beautiful plains where the population lived and herded horses which they rode, milked and ate, the sound of Cranes flying by and the wind in the grasslands, Wolves, that howl in the night. The other instrument is a Kazakh side blown flute called a Sybyzgy makes the sound of birds together with the rainstick, a bamboo pipe filled with tiny pebbles to make the sound of the wind blowing the grasses of the Steppe. The instruments on the wall are various styles of Dombra plus a Jetigen, a 7 stringed Zither all gifts from his Dears. Hope this is of interest to you, and also this, it's what the song is about www.iias.asia/the-newsletter/article/time-ordeal-story-1916-revolt-central-asia 💙🇰🇿"

That instrument is Kobyze. Traditionally kobyzes were sacred instruments, owned by shamans and bakses (traditional spiritual medics). According to legends, the kobyz and its music could banish evil spirits, sicknesses and death.

He is walking by days to an uncertain destiny... it's so sad! Letters and stories behind many Dimash's songs are really shocking! I hope my English can be understood!! 🤔 Greetings for you from Argentina 👋 🇦🇷

This is a national Kazakh song about how a soldier goes to war and will never see his home again. And musical instruments are the same national Kazakh. The sounds they make are not suffering, but the voices of wild animals of the steppe. If you stay at night in the Kazakh steppe, you hear these sounds it may very well be that they will be the last in your life.

Bowed instruments have originated in the equestrian cultures of Central Asia, an example being the Kobyz (Kazakh: қобыз) or kyl-kobyz is an ancient Turkic, Kazakh string instrument and then Mongolian instrument Morin huur: Turkic and Mongolian horsemen from Inner Asia were probably the world’s earliest fiddlers. Their two-stringed upright fiddles were strung with horsehair strings, played with horsehair bows, and often feature a carved horse’s head at the end of the neck. The violins, violas, and cellos we play today, and whose bows are still strung with horsehair, are a legacy of the nomads. It is believed that these instruments eventually spread to China, India, the Byzantine Empire and the Middle East, where they inspired into instruments such as the erhu in China, the rebab in the Middle East, the lyra in the Byzantine Empire and the esraj in India. The violin in its present form emerged in early 16th-Century Northern Italy, where the port towns of Venice and Genoa maintained extensive ties to central Asia through the trade routes of the silk road. The "kobyz" is neither shamanic nor belongs of darkness. (Shamans playing a special drum.) The kobyz was Korkut Ata's instrument. Korkut Ata (Dede Korkut, Korkyt Ata), who played kobyz, composed musical pieces, had a super human wisdom, foresaw future, doctor recovering the sick, Great Vizier of the sovereign and was a "kam", is believed to have lived near Sırderya river. Probably he was older like epics. It has been proved that the various narratives about Dede Korkut, except the two known copies were transformed into different kinds of narratives. Some of the mythological narratives, the source of legends starring Korkut, were transformed into legend and some were transformed into story and/or tale. Only two original copies of this book has still remained today. (Dresden and Vatican copies) Korkut Ata is accepted as the father of Turkic music, creator of "Küy" and a legendary hero in Kazakhstan and all Turkic countries. (Mr. Kudaibergen played "Adai" named "küy" in Daididau.) The musical compositions are all interconnected by the epic stories that accompany them. The element encompasses social, cultural and moral values such as heroism, dialogue, physical and spiritual wellness and unity as well as respect for nature, and contains profound knowledge about the history and culture of Turkic-speaking communities. Inscribed in 2018 (13.COM) on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity Wise women and men has used to play kobyz (since BC. 3000+). The other people may also played it. It is not forbidden but hard. Wise people are called "baksı" or "kam" in old Turkic culture. They worship "Tengri" (means "God"). Kobyz imitates nature: rivers, winds, trees, wolves, eagles, etc. 🐺 🌙Antic Epics said that, "when the kobyz is played, the demons run away". When the kobyz is played, people chills, because evilness go away. 🌙 References: *JACQUOT, A. 👍Because of the pandemic, the annual Tokyo Jazz Festival took place online. Dimash sings 2 songs, “SOS” and “Samaltau”, live in his home studio. This song, very well known in Kazakhstan, was written when the Tsar forcibly recruited the young men from Kazakhstan during the First World War. They marched endless distances. Many did not understand what to do in a foreign country. Their fields withered and their wives, children and elderly parents were left alone. The Tsar, then the Soviets, attacked the country and harassed, recruited and decimated the population. In 1934, after a great famine, 2 million Kazakhs had survived. Today 18 million people live in the Republic of Kazakhstan, 70% of them Kazakhs, 19% Russians and other ethnic groups. Fan Club USA has a background story video: www.youtube.com/watch?V=GVcs7wkfyC4 Tragedy of the Kazakh people: "Samal tau 1916" - HasSak folk band (True Saka) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KMPgRS9OR6I.html Samaltau (names a beautiful place. In Kazakhstan, many women's names have 'samal' as the first syllable) Mountain breeze Mountain breeze, my amazing country, my endless lake, What days await me as a soldier, You keep coming into my mind from time to time, My amazing homeland, where I was born and raised I wasn't riding, I was walking, Even slower than walking, Been strolling for 15 days In the direction of Omsk I'm at the age of two cycles, the year of the cow By the will of Fate, I went farther away Mountain breeze, my amazing country, you're left behind From the hollow field, we are the only ones I had parents, Of progressed age, Since this song was written, It's been 16 years. Mountain breeze, my amazing country, my endless lake, What days await me as a soldier.

This song is an old Russian Folk Song. It's about a young Man of 28 in the war of 1918. The young Man who wrote the song is from Kazakhstan and was forced into the Russian army. He was firced to march for 10 days away from his home to join and is distraught. While marching, he is singing his sorrow to his beloved mountain, wondering if he shall ever lay eyes on it again or to ever be reunited with his family. All the sounds are made by the 2 musicians and 3 instruments. This song is a masterpiece in my opinion. If you close your eyes, and listen to the 2 musicians, you can imagine being on the mountain, winds and water sounds and when Dimash sings, one can imagine the mountain echoing while he sings. Thank you for your reaction.

Dimash totally used his own Turkic Kazakh melismatic vocal tecnicques in Samaltau. We have ancient instruments and singing styles. We are not new one in this world. We and our culture are not mixed. Turkic tribes seems different phenotypes each other from the beginning. Multicultural marriage never being common in history and day. I think you are living in Dubai and y Dubai has a "Turcophobe" goverment. We have mostly secular countries, therefore we are not religionists's toys. All Muslims are not arabs and Turkic Nations are not living like wahhabis. All Christians are Mormons? As far as I know, any Arab "reactor" never said "Samaltau arab". Mr. Kudaibergen use his own "Turkic Melismas" in "Sinfull Passion". This is not middle-eastern style. Dimash's father explaned it: Turkic Tuva/Sakha style. Dimash used Kazak singing technique. You can hear it from the all Turan group. Sakha people ( Russia) uses this technique too. Tuvan throat singing (Khoomei,xöömei in Tuvan) is one particular variant of overtone singing practiced by people in Turkic Tribes (one of them Tuva), Mongolia, Inner Mongolia and Siberia. Dimash use the more "modern" version (for the last millennium) of these kind of Turkic vocal techniques named "makams" in "Know" and ""Hello". For "Know" and "Hello" (and maybe next songs...): These "melismas" and "riffs" cames from old Turkic tribes and Seljuks, Ottomans... These technique named "makam" or "mugam" and so hard. İndia countries were under the dominition of Turkic Babur Empire more than 300 years. Arabic countries were under the dominition of Ottoman Empire more than 400 years. They were learned -little bit- this kind of styles from Turks. Sufi music a small part of makams. Though its roots are in Central Asia, a unique and advanced level of makam music is apparent in Turkic music, which spread throughout the Mediterranean basin. It is used in singing, healing the illness and praying. For example : Azan (the Muslim call to ritual prayer, typically made by a muezzin from the minaret of a mosque) is recited with "15 different makams" just in Turkic countries. Arabs prefer mostly "hicaz" and "rast" makams in their azans and songs. Over four hundred makams exist in Turkish music; however the vast majority of these are no longer in use today. Makams resonances are always 432 Hz. "Healer frequency". Turkic music used to use for cure in historical Eurasian hospitals for hundreds of years. For example, for happiness and against fever: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cSUfb5vU1h0.html Against of confused thoughts and hypertension: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RbZe-AGeRic.html Even there are makams for horoscopes in Turkic music. For example, Dimash's sign is Gemini: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1gVZ32jLgMY.html Virgo: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Hl52baYUCaM.html As far as I know, Dimash has studied "makams" with his vocal teacher Marat Aitimov for years. Makams are one of them the Dimash's secret weapons. Makam: A musical braid in Turkish Music in which a variety of sounds come together and complete. Makam is the most important concept in Ottoman-Turkish music as in all modal musical traditions; in other words, the usul, rhythm is of secondary importance since a melody can fulfil the requirements of a makam without being subject to restrictions of rhythm. As a matter of fact, musical forms or performance with no fixed rhythm constitute a significant aspect Turkish music. There are important keys such as durak, güçlü and asma karar in this system and the music is done by means of moving between these keys. There are three types of Makam: 1- Basit (Basic) Makam, 2-Şed (Transposed) Makam, 3-Birleşik (Combined) Makam. Usûl: In Turkish Classical Music, the name for the sum of rhythmic patterns in various arrangements. Taksîm: A free-meter instrumental improvisation section in Turkish Classical Music. It may be exchanged between two instruments but generally is a solo performance. Taksim is an improvisational style in which the instrumentalist uses the notes specific to the makam to create a new piece. There are various types of taksims in Turkish Classical Music, the best known of which are the Giriş Taksimi (Introductory Taksim), the Ara Taksimi (Interlude Taksim) and the Geçiş Taksim (Transition Taksim). Uzun Hava: The general name for songs with a set melodic pattern and progression but in a free meter, and local Turkic folk songs in particular. There are many different terms used regionally with the same meaning: Gurbet Havası, Bozlak, Barak Havası, Elezber, Hoyrat, etc. An epitome (hoyrat): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ztIB2YAVGWU.html Gazel: In Turkish Classical Music, a secular vocal form. Either a few lines or an entire literary poem written in the gazel form (or sometimes other forms as well) is sung extemporaneously within a certain makam but in free meter. In other words, it can be considered a type of taksim (See Taksim) sung with lyrics. Just as gazels may be performed as a form in and of themselves, they also be sung after or within the meyân (See Miyan) section. They are also frequently punctuated with exclamantions such "Of," "Aman," "Medet," "Ey," etc. An epitome: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-U_nyZKTaE1A.html Dimash's style is much more "gazel" than "uzun hava" to me in "Hello". As far as it seems like "Huseyni makamı". I am a linguist. Not Anglo-Saxon (my Anglo grammar is horrible 😕, you can see), the antic ones. Maybe an expert music professor may explane that differences well. Phonetically Turkic Languages doesn't share similar intonations with Arabic or Persian. We are in Ural-Altai linguistic family. Arabs have Semitic language. Persians are İndo-European. Also geographically, Any Turkic country is not in the middle east. Middle east is technically, south of Mediterranean between north of Sub-saharan. There is no Japanese or Arabic motives. Only Kazakh national music and motives. Nomadic culture.
