Faouzia has cultivated a very theatrical voice. Some people don’t like her ‘cry’, her vibrato and her belting, because it’s too much, but these are just her tools. As she becomes more experienced, she’s making better choices about when to use. More selective. I really like her dynamic choices. ‘Ne me quitte pas’ is repeated over and over, but it’s sung a bit different each time. So it stays interesting. Very nice musicianship from both Faouzia and Ferro. Thank you for reacting. I cannot get enough.

I like how her voice goes very dark at the end on the word “PAS”. I don’t know how if you mention that in the video, but that’s something that stands out to me.

Yes, I do think she is a mezzo :-) There are several categories like Dramatic Mezzo-Soprano (the term is used for the opera but that's why you can find different things about Faouzia on the internet).
Oui, ce n'est pas tant la rapidité mais le choix des notes et la manière dont elles sont liées entre elles (dans le rnb, on aurait chanté les notes legato). Magnifique :-)
Am I to understand that French people don’t usually use a lot of chest voice.? I know they tend to sing in speak singing, and a lot of soft, kind of whispery voices. But you’re talking a lot about how different it is to hear, Faouzia, singing, in chest voice, and that’s odd to me because it’s regular to me based on a lot of the music that I listen to. Lol.
Joli timbre dans l'ensemble, les mélismes bien trouvés mais il y a quelque chose qui me dérange musicalement et que vous n'avez pas souligné dans "et quand viens le soir pour qu'un ciel flamboie, le rouge et le noir... elle sort de la tonalité idem pour le refrain. et je pense que le mécanisme léger, voix de tête est plus heureux dans l'interprétation
Ah c'est drôle Clarita, je ne suis pas d'accord avec la "sortie de tonalité", c'est un changement de note pour amener au melisma arabo-andalou :-) Et j'aime beaucoup qu'elle n'ait pas choisi justement de faire une transition là où on l'attendait. Et que, au contraire, elle ait choisi de chanter toute la fin en mécanisme léger (sauf 3 petites notes). Mais les goûts et les couleurs sont aussi variés que nous sommes humains (et heureusement) :-)
