Vocal Coach reacts to Park Hyo Shin (박효신 ) singing 야생화 (Wild Flower) (스페셜영상) 

Wildflower is an incredibly personal song to park hyo shin which is why he got so emotional. He wrote it during a pretty dark time whilst serving out his time in the military where he met the pianist in this video and co composer. It was a healing moment after the awful things he went thru (including a suicide of a dear friend). So yeah that's why he was sobbing and that's why it was amazing that you reacted to it near the year's end. Hopefully anyone going thru a shitty time will take comfort and realise ice melts, spring comes, things bloom again. Happy hols all. ❤

If you didn't know, here's some backstory on Park Hyoshin and the song. When Park Hyo shin was in highschool, I believe we signed to a label and started singing. His voice was very particular and he is even coined as creating a certain singing style that kpop idols still use today. But soon, his label went bankrupt so he signed to another label and this is where the dark past comes from. This label treated him so terribly that it effected him mentally and physically. The breaking point was when the label didn't pay him for the shows he did and finally when the label signed him up to do a week long festival type thing but didn't tell him. The only way he found this out was through social media and he had to pay for everything like production and stuff because he company didn't care. They worked him to the bone and when he was having a concert, he passed out on stage and went to the hospital. In the hospital they told him he Systollic Dysphonia I think it's called which is a terrible condition for singers but his label still made him go back and sing at the concert so he went and couldn't sing at the concert. He filed a lawsuit or 2 against him label but lost both with the whole "slave contract" thing happening in kpop at the time. His way out was through the military so he joined and when he got out, his contract ended with that company and he joined a company with a guy he met in the military. They became best friends and his name is Jae-in and he is the piano guy you see in the video. He is treated so well there and its the best for him. But his past has scared him. You never see him on variety or in interviews because he became so introverted. He also changed him way of singing, going to a healthier style that fit him best. (HE IS A SELF-TAUGHT SINGER!) He got alot of hate for that but alot of fans respected it too. What is the most upsetting is he has to live with that condition. He could possibly not sing or talk ever again if he didn't go to get injections every 6 months. If you watch performances where he has parts where he talks to the crowd, he always drinks this pink water, I'm pretty sure it helps soothe his throat. But Park Hyo shin is a veteran in the kpop industry. He debuted in 1999, a time where kpop was getting on its feet. There is so much respect around Park Hyoshin though, even coined by koreans to be one of the best and influential vocalists in korea with 3 others.

Park Hyo Shin is one of the best singers in Korea (in my opinion) and I would love it if more people, no matter if kpop fans or not, get to know him more. He really has a beautiful voice. Thanks for this!

I remember in an article that i read(don't remember now where it's from), that this song is like the reflection of his life, all of his struggles on his career(something like that). He cant sing this without him getting so emotional, that is why he always closes his eyes everytime he sing this, just to prevent him from crying. Because he said that if he sing this with his eyes open, he might not be able to sing it at all.

I always got emotional whenever I hear this song. It's a masterpiece. Full of pain, yet, gives us hope. This is the song that brought me to him (Park Hyo Shin) and his music literally changed me. He and his music healed my soul.

Yay! The ending gets me every time lol. I'm a sap to be fair, but still it hits me every time. The crowd always amazes me. They were so drawn in and dialed into the performance... No one had their phones out and they were dead silent! Crazy to see these days.

.. it is such a fantastic performance! They lyrics are so beautiful, and his kinda fragile tone in the vocie just touch my heart so much! Can't count how many times I have been listening to that performance.... he is so so amazing!! You should try listen to more of his stuff...it is just a awsome!

Really appreciate you for reacting to PHS. I didn't really know him for that long but instantly fell for this guy real hard after listening to couple of his songs. His voice itself is instrument (If you know what I mean). He does not need fancy props nor auto tune whilst singing. In fact, his Acapella is the best. Snow flower is another song that is worth reacting to cuz it's a very difficult song to sing. Thank you n hope to see more of your reaction to PHS. Cheers

He said that when he sings this song, especially the highest part, he feels hard because of not the high notes but his emotions. (+ he said as a joke “Almost of my songs are high so it doesn’t matter to sing. lol) Because he isn’t able to accustomed to “being emotional”, he often tends to cry no matter how many times he sings this song.

Best Korean singer I’ve ever heard. His high notes are gorgeous ( no need for falsetto). Every note an emotional impact. Truly beyond amazing. No need to move around like Dimash. Just stay put without gyrating and let your heart lead the way. Thanks for sharing. Al

This is what happens when you have the convergence of a great lyric, a great melody, an unbelievable singer/interpreter, and a fabulous pianist. I can't think of anything that would have made the performance any better. The tears at the end felt genuine and were the icing on the cake. Bravo!

he has dynamic range of belt and he uses it in musical performances actually, yet not many knows unless you are park hyo shin fan. as a singer of park hyo shin he is using his own skills and technique to draw attention to crowds and using a low tone to set an incredibly emotional song...

Like a couple other people have said, this is an extremely personal song for Hyo Shin. Essentially it is a reflection on the many hardships he has faced in his life and he is responding as the wildflower that will stand strong in the face of the adversity the world throws at him

Hello Beth: Here’s one just for you , Beth, ( not for public reaction because it’s an old 60s studio version and Morgana has since passed. ) because you being a professional singer I feel you will appreciate and understand how difficult it was to perform this song the way she did. ( unbelievable run of high and low notes telling the sad story of a lover promising to return but never returning breaking her heart and her dying of a broken heart ). Kudos to the arranger who made this unique version possible. No one ever performed it better nor I believe no one ever will ( IMHO). I was just introduced to Park last week. Damn it is SO hard to get a CD....all the places are sold out, and so anyone who has a used on is charging 100s of dollars! I love Dimash and Hua, and again....someone said listen to Park last week. I fell in love. What you said.....when I listen to Park, while DQ and Hua are intensely emotional and I've always said are my FAV singers and still are.....Park is different....and is in his own space......I worry for Dimash's voice...will he over use it and lose it, .....but with Park, I feel very relaxed in terms of concern over his voice: when he went up into the C5, it was effortless....so I just get lost in the richness, the beauty and shimmering quality of his voice and the emotional story....I really am so grateful to discover this lovely singer!! While I still think DQ is the most otherworldly vocalist,,,,,with Park I like that he is passionate, powerful, yet reserved in a way....I don't worry about his voice.

I see what you mean by this song doesn't have that fancy or crazy range or those complicated notes, i think he intend to do this song just like that. Just like the title, wildflower, it would be strange and won't match if the song itself has a complicated feel to it. This song is so steady, simple to hear, building up very nicely, yet at the end he scream that beautiful note and everyone was rendered breathless. It got a crazy amount of raw tears yet at the same time the same amount of trusted hard solid unwavering emotion. Its hard to describe sorry lol maybe i failed at describing but you know.. hahaha one of my fave songs in the world. Thx ~

He passed out one day and could not sing any longer. 3. Because he could not work. The agency did not pay him and sued him and he got in debt for 3 million dollars. After these, his debut song is this. Wild Flower, which will bloom again in the lyrics.

He was so nice and innocent that he met many bad women and was hurt. So he is not making any relationship anymore.(that's why somepeople call him gay, but it is not true) When he sings, he shares all of his experiences. I pray that he will meet a really good woman and find pure love again.
