As a Puerto Rican this song represents such a big part of our culture, it’s a song that makes you feel like even if our island is not that big in size, we’ll forever be proud of who we are and our voice will be forever heard with pride of our island even on the moon. Side note: There's a part in this video where he yells out Puñeta! really loud, it's a curse word in Spanish but one that's used more commonly by us Puerto Ricans to show the highest level of emotion about a subject. He really immerses himself into his music but no other song brings out the most emotion from him as this one. A true gem of a human within our culture who loves his heritage and isn't afraid to show it.

Just wanted to add to everyone’s comments that this particular video was from a fundraiser concert done for the people of PR after hurricane Maria wreaked havoc on the island, his emotions in this absolutely matched the emotion of so many of us in the US that saw what the people were going through while, desperately trying to reach out to our loved ones still there. Since I haven't seen a comment yet saying this. The first time this version was sung was for the Banco Popular's TV Christmas Special, I think in 1998, in honor of composer Rafael Hernández. It was an immediate hit on the island and, honestly, Marc Anthony couldn't have been more popular and liked. What I would call the soneo at the end of the song was added for the Christmas special. That is why you hear him naming Rafael, the composer of this song and so many other Puerto Rican classics, and him calling out his roots since he is a Nuyorican.

This performance was right after Maria in 2017, the island was devastated and every Rican on earth was helping the island. That's why the emotion was raw. People were dying, we were rushing in. This was actually a telethon to raise money for Puerto Rico, it included Ricky Martin, Jlo, and others. The Verse added to the original song about the heritage was created by Cuco Pena for the Christmas Special of the Banco Popular of Puerto Rico that year it was called Al Compas de un Sentimiento in honor of Rafael Hernandez he composed Preciosa. The lyrics were added because there are more Puerto Ricans living abroad than in P.R. 3.2 million and 7 million abroad. Marc had a little fame in Puerto Rico and overnight he became an icon.
