Geoff has just released a new song called Big bad John.. Also voiceplay have a few new since you reacted to this... Try we don't talk about Bruno, the dragonborn comes.. Skyrim, warrior., imagine dragons.
A subharmonic E1 is Geoff's low note in this song, but he peaked up at B4. I think he can go a little bit higher, and a little bit lower, but this is a pretty good representation of his range, especially considering it's all done in such a short span. Sixteen Tons was all chest notes, by comparison.
Thx for the info Cynical! Super impressive and you really feel those bass notes, especially with good headphones on! Yeah I heard that about Sixteen Tons, that's also incredible!
And even more impressive Geoff's stamp is going up and down two octaves at the drop of a hat. Which he did at the end here. I think besides him only Tomi P showed that among A Capella bass singers. At least doing so frequently. And so smoothly that it leaves vocal coaches on RU-vid wowed.
@@YBPlaysMusic Geoff's and Tim have the same octave range but different vocal range . Tim hits 1 note lower than Geoff but Geoff hits 1 note higher . Geoff hits his highest note I believe in there cover of Elvira ( they don't have a official version but they have a live version . You should definitely listen to it .) (Voiceplay specifically Geoff made the arrangement for home frees version of Elvira and so when voiceplay do it in the live performance it sounds very similar to home frees at some parts) Tim and Geoff are good friends in real life . And both Rob and Tim have features in some voiceplay videos . They performed on the same season of the sing off were home free won . (Please check out survivor home free Vs voiceplay /zombies Vs hillbillies . Where home free and voiceplay(the sing off voiceplay which had a few different members ) have a accapella battle . Home free plays hillbillies and voiceplay plays zombies . They did this as they never got to do it on the sing off show and so decided to do it after . )
This song is a Geoff-lead song, but they normally take turns in each song, it's also a great representation of Geoff's range. If you want more of that you can check out their Little Mermaid Medley, Queen in 5 minutes, Daddy Sang Bass, If I were a rich man/girl and My Mother Told Me. The one with the high-pitch voice is Earl, sadly he left last year for personal reasons and still they haven't found a replacement so they'll feature different people in their videos. The one who you initially thought had the highest voice is Eli (pronounced "Ellie), he's a tenor with a crazy range who actually can cover for bass. The beatboxer is Layne, he arranged this one and does the majority of their arrangements, he's amazing and also has a huge range. The other one is J.None, he's the baritone and left recently to go to the Navy.
It was an E1. I’ve heard that he has a five octave range! Definitely look into the rest of his/their music! Their new member is Cesar De La Rosa! Check out “My mother told me“, “Butter”, “If I were a Rich Man”… The list goes on and on.
He calls himself a Baritone, and has worked for the range he has. He has surpassed 5 octaves at this point. And I am impressed that you caught the bass riff in the middle, most reactors miss it.
You're one of the few (if any) reactors who noticed Geoff took what were supposed the little snakes out of his mouth but was likely a candy called Gummy Worms. They're sort of chewy candy.
Great reaction. The low was E1 subharmonic. In Sixteen Tons he used all chest voice. Santa is Geoff's brother-in-law, not a member of the group. Earl - big guy is high tenor, very unique voice Eli (ell lee) - bald guy, 2nd tenor, great range J.None - black guy, baritone Geoff - bass, obviously Layne - glowing nose beatboxer, great voice also
REact List: Voiceplay- Grin griming ghost, Phantom of the opera, Once upon a Dream, Moana, Little Mermaid Medley, Queen in 5, My Mother Told ME Peter Hollens/Tim Foust Misty Mountains- Geoff Castilucci's Misty Mountains, Sixteen Tons, Headless Horseman That is all I have to say. Have Fun!!!
Geoff Castellucci, as you know, bass, Layne Stein is the vocal percussion/beatboxer, The very high tenor is Earl Elkin, with beard, Eli (Elly) Jacobson is the tenor with a wide range, master of runs and riffs, and J.None is the baritone,, also with a wide range. Also VoicePlay and Geoff never block their videos so can be shown without any problem. Anything they do is good, people have their favourites but it's hard to choose.
Going to fall down the VoicePlay rabbit hole. Enjoy the ride. I have dubbed them #TheTheatreKidsofaCappella. It was a rubber Snake in his mouth and Spiders for the stew. Santa Claus is Geoff's brother-in-law. Everyone in VoicePlay always gets their time to shinne.
When VoicePlay does songs from Musical theater they go all in with makeup and costumes. My favorites are Moana Medley and My Mother Told Me. Since this video was produced Earl, the bearded singer, and Jay, the singer in the leather jacket have left the group. As a result they are now hosting guest singers in their productions. Layne, the Beatboxer, or Geoff produce or arrange most of their videos. Their Sound Engineer is Ed Boyer, who also works with Pentatonix. Members from left to right J. None -Baritone Earl - Tenor Eli (pronounced Elly) - Tenor Geoff - Bass Layne - Beatboxer/Tenor
Thx for the info John! Oh that's too bad! Did they quit Voiceplay to go on their own or did they quit the music business entirely? It's probably very interesting to say the least, having guest singers for their recent and future productions. It's pretty nice that apparently, it's actually not that big of a world, seeing the connections between PTX, Voiceplay and Home Free.
A new permanent member, Oscar De La Rosa, was a month ago. He's featured in a few performances; his first as a permanent member was the Fiddler on the Roof cover, "If I were a Rich Man" (which is jaw-dropingly good! Most stylish arrangement I've ever heard.)
Great reaction! You need to react to Voiceplay's "My Mother Told Me"! I look forward to watching more of your reaction videos. By the way, Marley is going to be a star! You can say you "discovered" him!!
Thx for the suggestion Pamela! Glad you enjoyed it and there. will definitely be more of them in the future! :D Haha, it's all about growing up in the right conditions and circumstances indeed :p
The one with the Beard, is Earl, he is their tenor, and his voice is very nasally......Eli, the one in red, sings baritone/tenor. J. None is the black leather jacket, Baritone, but high and low, Layne, the one is the Beatboxer, has the glowing nose.....Geoff has a 5 Octave range.
Great reaction, you should check out VoicePlay This is Halloween, Moana Medley and My Mother Told Me for more great costume, make up and awesome music. You should check out Trapped in 3 mins, Panic at the Disco in 4 mins and Queen in 5 mins by VoicePlay too. Pentatonix Making Christmas and My Favourite Things for good costumes and or effects and more awesome music of course.
Golden Retriever named Marley. LOL!! I know where that comes from. I was surprised that no one answered your question yet. The Nightmare Before Christmas is a movie. Not strictly a cartoon. It was shot using 'claymation' so 'cartoon' is close enough. I would say a holiday type movie but maybe a little scary for little kids. Many songs are known from it. 10:45 I see everyone else has answered. So . . . Bring the cute back. Have Marley on more often! 😁 Good reaction guys.
Layne is the beatboxer and the arranger for the group (yep, he is the guy on the right with the bright nose LOL) The led mouth pieces are simple prosthetics you can get at any carnival in the US. Check out "Little Mermaid Medley"....where Geoff just goes nuts as the Sea Witch Ursula.
Geoff has a 5 octave range and he does a subharmonic E1 in this song. For his highs, listen to his version of High & Dry. Also listen to his version of Misty Mountains
other Voiceplay to try might be This is Halloween, Grim Grinning Ghosts and for Geoff alone, try either Headless Horseman or Take Me Home, Country Road
@@YBPlaysMusic You can't always be sure. Geoff and Eli can both step in as beat box if necessary (but without Layne's flash) And you can't be sure about bass backgrounds, either. Layne's range is said to be wider than Geoff's (but without the beautiful round resonance in the bass) and Eli sometimes backs up bass when Geoff is singing lead. Layne's lows are usually heard when he is beatboxing - he'll suddenly come out with a stunningly low note. But with this group you just can't always be certain unless you recognize the voice.... they're incredibly flexible and all have wide ranges.
They probably had mouth guards in blue or green and just treated it as a green screen. Music video formats are not live unless it specifically says so.
After VPs rendition of Halo, his range goes from B0 and his top end is A5 which is 1 step from 6 octaves! The Santa is Geoff's neighbor they enlisted for this.
Laine, the one with the red nose is the Beatboxer. In that pause that was Geoff that did that 3 low notes. Santa doesn't sing, he was Geoffs neighbor. Guy in the black leather is J. None, he is a tenor. Joined the US Navy and is now in Virginia.
You should check out their version of "This is Halloween" from the same movie. They do a phenomenal job of it, and a few more of the group have a solo in it and you get to hear their voices a bit better.
Another great example of Geoff Castellucci's deep voice can be found in Voiceplay's rendition of "My Mother Told Me" (a song about vikings, sung by vikings), and Voiceplay's rendition of "HALO". Geoff Castellucci's version of "Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold" from the Hobbit is also very special.
From what I understand, the light effects are from mouthguards they are wearing for the video. And yes, Geoff has an insane range, clocking in at around five octaves. He says that he had originally wanted to be a rock tenor, and he's got the high end to back it up, as much as he is one of the most powerful bass singers around. Dangerously, he's even got a solo channel, where he'll do songs where he's layered four or five times. He just put out House of the Rising Sun, though I'm also just very fond of his Sixteen Tons video. In any event, welcome to the world of VoicePlay and Geoff Castellucci. They are a lot of fun, pretty much across the board.
Ah, I see you're already familiar with his solo stuff XD Anyway, House of the Rising Sun just came out this morning, so it's fresh in my mind XD And yes, they do each get their moments to shine. Sadly, Earl (the one in white) left the group... oh, about a year and a half ago now, and I'm still missing him pretty badly, and they still don't have a super high tenor to replace him. JNone, the one in the leather jacket, has also more recently departed the group to join the US Navy Choir. Still, I feel like they've done a good job of finding someone who can bring a similar energy to the group in Cesar De La Rosa (If I Were A Rich Man/Girl was his first video as a permanent member). Eli (pronounced E-ly not Ellie) is a powerhouse, able to deliver an outstanding performance wherever he's put in the arrangement. Even though he's not always in the limelight, he's always amazing. Other singers that would be worth looking into would be Colm McGuiness, Jarred Halley, and Jonathan Young. Colm and Jarred have both done a lot of layered acapella videos, though Colm has started incorporating self-performed instrumentals into his videos. Jonathan Young has specialized over the years in hard rock and heavy metal covers of songs - Disney songs being a frequent subject of this treatment. Though, here within the last year, he's made a renewed commitment to original works.
Geoff's easy full voice on the daily is A1 to A4, though he can go higher both higher and lower without reverting to falsetto, growl or subharmonics. Super talented guy!
All of their Halloween songs are super enjoyable if you want to see the variety of unique and beautiful voices that they can do. This is Halloween, what’s this, and kidnap Mr Santa Claus are the other three.
Interesting that Dries likened the character voice Earl was using for this song to a witch, as the character he was portraying from "A Nightmare Before Christmas" *is* the witch named Shock.
The character “Oogie Boogie” in TNBC is full of insects...he’s literally a potato sack full of bugs. Creepy, as one would expect of a Oogie Boogie Man. Oh, and your reaction to that last note was absolutely delightful! It made me subscribe!
Always happy to see others who appreciate the character voices that Earl, Eli, and J bring. Geoff, of course, is front, center, and amazing. VP all together are sensational!
New sub here! Love Voice Play and Home Free! This is a favorite of fans for reactors to watch! Of course, we love watching this one over and over! lol I like your channel! You two are entertaining and interesting! Marley is a cute little pup! As far as suggestion, you can't go wrong with any of Voice Play's videos. They're all fantastic! I'm sure you have many suggestions below my comment.
The 3 American acappella basses all have very large vocal ranges. Speaking voices Geoff Castelluci C#2-A2 Avi Kaplan C2-A2 Tim Foust Bb1- F#2 Tim has the largest total vocal range I believe. Avi's I have for last year's observed vocal range 2020 C1-C#5 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bmMqfVMilhQ.html
If you guys get a chance to watch Voiceplay's production of "This is Halloween" you'll get a good idea of some of their "cartoon-like" voice skills... many of them have actually worked in Disney World before.
@ 4:45 I watched this part of "The Nightmare Before Christmas" stop action Claymation film just to see what VoicePlay was covering and the Oogie Boogie Man *does* drop worms on Santa and they quickly hide themselves in his beard. :D Eeeeewwww!
In the movie Oogie Boogie is basically a burlap sack full of bugs and worms and some drop out as he moves and sings. Geoff was simulating that with the worms that dropped out of his mouth.
Can you please check out Perrie Edwards? May be her best high notes and vocals or there is also a video called The Best of Perrie Edwards. Please react to that. You will not be disappointed.🌸
The stuff that came out of Geoff's mouth were a type of candy called "Gummy Worms". They look like colorful worms but they are made out of flavored gelatin. There is a somewhat popular desert called "worms in dirt" where you have a cup full of crushed Oreo cookies simulating dirt, and you bury gummy worms in it. Kids love it.
This is pre recorded they do not sing this live. So the bass beat box is Geoff and Layne is their main beat boxer. It is a music video. They lip synce this but they themselves record it
You guys are by far the most annoying people I have ever seen to do one of these. You missed the best parts, stop it on the other parts , keep talking over the singers ,stop the video every couple seconds . not to mention the video of the singers is unwatchable.
The high pitch one is actually the big guy with the beard and the white sweater. The black guy in the leather jacket and the bald short guy are both baritones. The beat boxer is the guy who was on the far right with the glowing nose. But they all have such crazy ranges they can all perform any part.
Please react to metal name - ‘Suite Clarity - Voices Unheard’ Brand new track released this month with Album drop Duality! Crazy vocals! Independent band so no copyright 😄🤘
