VOICEPLAY - The Little Mermaid - MEDLEY (feat. Rachel Potter)| REACTION 

Geoff's belt to a 3 octave drop here never fails to impress. His range is just absolutely insane.

Rachel has an amazing voice, and also appears with them in their Moana medley.

VoicePlay has amazing arrangements. Geoff (the bass) and Layne (vocal percussion) do the majority of them, and I'm constantly impressed by their creativity. All of their medleys and mashups show particular brilliance in the transitions, and among my favorites of these are Trapped: Billie Eilish in 3 Minutes, followed by Panic! in 4 Minutes (these are a confirmed series, and the videos should be watched in this order, as they tell a story)- both of these are more mashup than medley. I love the way they weave bits of song together to create a storytelling tapestry. Queen in 5 Minutes is another fantastic one, as is Boybands in 5 Minutes. As far as straight up songs, well, you're hard pressed to find one that won't impress you on some level. Personal favorites are Eleanor Rigby (notable that this is performed as a quartet, rather than a quintet, and it doesn't suffer for it one bit), Carry On Wayward Son, True Colors, Man in the Mirror and more recently, Butter (BTS cover) and If I Were a Rich Man/Girl.

I agree, they’re so great! They do their own arrangements, most often Geoff or Layne. I recommend their cover of “Phantom of the Opera”. It’s older but also featuring Rachel Potter. It would be nice to see you react to their two most recent ones as well, “Butter” and “If I were a rich man” from “Fiddler on the Roof” - you’ll see their newest member, Cesar de la Rosa (featured in Butter, part of the group in If I were a rich man). But I love everything they’ve done!

Rachel has been featured in a lot of their videos, I think their latest was Kidnap the Sandy Clause, but she's also in the Moana Medley, Phantom of the Opera and Attention. They have lots of videos with them putting on costumes, that's sort of what differentiates them with other a capella groups, This is Halloween is a great one, also Queen in 5 minutes, Boy Bands in 5 minutes, Phantom of the Opera, You're a Mean One Mr. Grinch, Kidnap the Sandy Clause, My Mother Told Me and Warriors. They also have other covers without costumes like Bang!, Carry On Wayward Son, Butter, We're Good, Go The Distance, Superstition or their latest one If I were a Rich Man/Girl.

I love all the theatrics that they put into their videos. All out with the costumes, make-up, etc. They never fail to impress. Geoff has his own channel and just dropped Far Over The Misty Mountains Cold. Gave me so many chills.

You’re not alone in having stage fright. I had a dear friend-met him when he was the lead in Cabaret, and I was on the crew. A couple of us had to push this contraption that was meant to be a train car onstage for the opening scene. We always had to remind him to breathe as we rolled him out. If we didn’t he’d literally pass out onstage. Once he got going he was fine. Total star quality, and this guy loved to be the center of attention, which is fine because he was always hilarious, but he was always a bit panicky when the curtain came up. Anyway, great reaction! I look forward to seeing more.

A similar style to this one is Moana, lots of fun. Geoff is an absolute beast with a 5 octave range. Others have made suggestions such as Queen in 5 minutes, Boy Bands in 5 Minutes, Tennessee Whisky is great, Warriors, Carry On Wayward Son, Go the Distance. To be honest the list is never ending. :) Even here you have two dislikes. Unbelievabl I agree about sharing them around, they need more recognition in my opinion.

Loved your review of this video. I don't see how anyone could give a dislike to the video unless they are just clueless about good music. Rachel Potter has done a lot of collaboration with VoicePlay. She was a finalist in season three of the American X-Factor competition show, and has done some Broadway shows as well. She really does a great job in the VoicePlay videos.

Oh, I miss J None (“Sebastian,” he recently joined the Naval Choir), but their new stuff is great, too. Their new edition, Cesar, is awesome. Also, side note....You get the most out of listening to any A Cappella group with headphones. Glad you enjoyed it.

VoicePlay and Home Free both came from Season 4 of The Sing Off on NBC, with Home Free winning the season [VoicePlay finished 5th & 6th;double elimination]. So, VP and HF are close friends. Layne Stein, the beatboxer does the arrangements for Voiceplay. He collaborated with the Rupp brothers on one of Home Free's funniest videos, the Butt Remix. This was a April's fool day release here in America but is ironically fantastic. Love collaboration videos with these artists. Voiceplay also has a video in which the are joined by many people that have appeared with them, Just Sing. Make sure you watch this one with captions turned on.

Basically, there are currently 4 incredibly good Acapella groups. Three of them came from the NBC-TV show Sing-Off and all have 5-members. Pentatonix won Season 3, and Home Free won Season 4 of the 5 Seasons it was on the air. VoicePlay was also on Season 4. But, IMHO, because they had a different female singer on the show (they should have had Rachel Potter) they were eliminated early. I actually think the reactions you are doing could lead to your being more confident. After all you are sitting there and talking to 60,000 people when you do these reactions. I don't know who wouldn't love this. Rachel Potter is really a Disney princess. She works for Disney in California and for a couple of years did 3 or 4 performances per day. So the part of Ariel she could do in her sleep. She has a very flexible voice as you can tell when Ursula takes her voice - the whole timbre changes. When she gets her voice back, the Disney princess is back. With Halloween coming up, you might enjoy Wicked, or This is Halloween, or Geoff's Monster Mash or the Headless Horseman.
