There’s also a connection between Nami and Sun Wukong. The extending poll, the flying nimbus (although that’s more of a DB thing than a Wukong thing), flaming hair, weather manipulation, mirages, cleverness. I also didn’t even know the Arlong thing so that’s another connection. Sun Wukong also had an Asura form he used in battle, which connects to Zoro. I feel like Sun Wukong is Oda’s favourite fictional character so he incorporated him into his own characters.

@@Atomysk ok thanks for letting me know. I was always a little confused about Sun Wukong having a cloud that he could ride because in most art work he’s not depicted with one. I assumed it was more of a Goku thing based off of that.

Just putting this out there: The first 200 meters was huge, of course, but increases in radius indicate an exponential shift in volume. So, that 1 meter that happened recently in the story was likely enough water to flood the majority of the pre-war world!

How would it be exponential? If we assume the One Piece planet to be a similar size to our own, 200 m are negligible in comparison to its radius. If we further assume that before the void century, a significant portion of the surface was at or not far above sea level, it would be approximately linear. Specifically, if the planet's radius is R, a rise by d would necessitate a volume of around 4πR² * d. Even if we were to assume the One Piece planet to be ridiculously small, the increase would be at most cubic, not exponential, it would (at most) be 4π ( d³/3 + Rd² + R²d ).

The connections here are STRONG. I always knew that the energy steroids were a much bigger deal than people thought. The Fishmen referred to the Tamate Box as a NATIONAL TREASURE and Lu Feld, the gangster that funded the MADS team was practically foaming at the mouth just to get a peak inside it at Whole Cake. It was clear that the contents would hold much greater meaning than what a handful of drugs implied. Great video Randy!

The story about Hanuman talks about the monkey eating the sun, thinking it was a shining ripe fruit and being punished by the gods for it. Another thing to link luffy to sunwukong is how like you mentioned wukong was trapped in a mountain as his punishment. But luffy was litterally trapped under a "mountain" by Dorry the giant when he picked up the seaking skull on Little Island, which they all thought was a mountain until they knew otherwise. So i just thought that was a fun connection

The connection between Luffy, Joyboy and Sun Wukong had been established for long, but you gave a new perspective on it with the mink association, and it sounds really solid. The Sabaody connection seems obvious now that you mentioned it. A few more potential clues/connections : - in Whole Cake Island Arc, Luffy gives birth to myriads of monkey (d. luffies) with the animal made to look like clones of him bursting out of the cake. - if Sun Wukong was emprisoned in a mountain, could Onigashima's skull be Joyboy's, and the mountain be the Onigashima walls, or underwater land ? Not to mention that by falling into lava, Kaido and Big Mom kinda got entrapped in the mountain. - Nika's silhouettes always included a polearm. - from its wikipedia page (in english), Arlong Shen helped the Zhou dynasty in defeating the previous dynasty (the Shang). If you haven't heard of Mom Piece (on the Drawk Show channel), please have a look at her reviews of reading One Piece while mostly unspoiled. The analysis goes wild. She nailed the Sun wukong / Sun God prediction VERY early (almost pre-Skypiea).

my goat man congrats on reaching 40k and the 100k views goal! again i was shocked that the Law SWORD one hadn't already hit something bigger than that, but it is what it is. There was some real meat to that Monkey King connection so I won't close the door on it, that sabaody name connection was wild. Makes me think Luffy will just materialize the power pole since Oda is clearly just having fun with his gear 5 stuff. I do have a question as well. If joyboy was born at the start of the void century and was fighting right up till the end of it, do we believe he was close to 100 years old and still in active combat? Garp was 80 and complaining about his fall off so I think an extra 20 years is gonna make a difference. This leads me to believe that this detail is basically confirmation that Joyboy was a giant or buccaneer, someone with a longer life span than a human (though buccaneers aren't confirmed, just going off that "giant's blood" comment from Ivankov"). Am i reading Vegapunks words on Joyboy's birth and defeat too literally? fun vid man. salivating for these fucking chapter releases lol.

Not sure if its bc there’s different telling a of the story but aren’t the pills wukong ate the immortality pills and the red eyes come from him getting cooked in laozi’s furnace only to survive bc he has like 5 layers of immortality(training, erasing his name from the book in the underworld, immortality peach, pill and wine)

Congrats on the 100k views. Well deserved, and here’s to many more. As for the theory itself, I’m not onboard just yet. The white hair and red eyes are the best support for it, but it feels like Oda likes inferring more about JttW than actually referencing it. The silhouette to me looks like the sash as well. You can’t trust Oda silhouettes, but if that is a tail it at a truly weird angle. And we’ve been burned before by Wukong theories. A substantial amount of people when G5 was first revealed was thinking it was going to be a Mythical Wukong fruit (along with resin too) before we found out it was the Nika fruit. I am on the Buccaneer bandwagon. That Strawhat that Imu is hoarding is way too big for a Mink IMO. And it would explain why Saturn specifically seemed to hate Buccaneers so much. As for the chapter, Foxy showing up again gave me the biggest smile. These scenes from the world are like Smash Bros Ultimate: Everyone is here.

Also I think it's cool to note that Nami has a lot of similarities with sun wukong as well(stretching staff, cloud, orange hair, etc) and Nami was the strawhat that made the decision to save all the Minks back in Zou and they even gave her their national treasure.

Great video as always Randy! 😁 Another fun random unrelated fact that might be useful for future theories/videos - my brother came back from Vietnam the other day and brought a chocolate with him that has a picture of "Nghinh Phong Tower" on it. That is a monument in Vietnam that extremly resembles "God Valley" 🤯. Apparently, there is myth connected to it called Lạc Long Quân - Âu Cơ. You should look it up. It has sea, mountains, eggs, children and clan involved in it. I would love for you to cook something more with this! Cheers ✌🏼😁
