Because the bug is the very best friend of many across the world, and it finally died. But my 62 bug will drive on until I am dead. That’s a fact. Yes, I cry every time watching this.
I also cried a lot like a child ,my dad use to pick me up from school in his 65 , that 65 has taught me a lot of simple mechanical engineering 😢 I started to love it since my birth and will always love them till death and will always rescue any bug which is left to die no matter what condition it is in
Yep! It brought joy, happiness and love to many generations. Was an icon of a famous peace movement. Became a cinema and television legend. Despite being designed by a man who killed 6 million Jews.
My mother died on last month. She has always wished for a Volkswagen Beetle painted the color of a ladybug. So I bought a toy car, painted it the color of a ladybug and took it to my mother's grave for decoration. Fly high mom🕊️♥️
Your comment broke my heart and made me think of my own VW experience. Much more recently I bought my first VW a few years ago. I got the ID4 that is the Beetle's 'spiritual all electric successor.' I got it because I wanted to try an electric car and it was cheap at the time. I like it a lot but last summer my 6 year old nephew came to stay with me. He was fascinated by how the car's headlights raise up when the car turns on. To him they were eyes and the car was waking up. He named it, he would tell it good night and even said good bye to it when he left. Maybe VW really did capture the spirit of the Beetle?
My grandpa’s lifetime wonder car was the Beetle. He would always share with me all the great adventures he experienced while riding his car. He passed away last year and for me it is a beautiful coincidence to see that one of the things that made him a happy man is leaving along with him. Love you grandpa
My dad had an oval window beetle when I was born. I still remember riding in it. As soon as I passed my test I bought my own, a '72 1300. I still own and drive it today, 35 years later.
The most beautiful commercial about a car ever made! The car, the young boy who becomes the old man, "Let It Be" (John Lennon/Paul McCartney) from the final Beetles album (1970) sung by children (🌻), and the lightning bug to symbolize where VW is headed (see ID4) all amazing references of "The People's Car," the company that built it, and the people who bought and drove it. Thank you to every single person involved with the making of this commercial. This is a masterpiece! Love, 🐰
Ironically, I bought my first car, a 2000 New Beetle, the same day as the last one was rolled off the assembly line (July 10, 2019). I absolutely adore my Bug, and Beetles are such an icon, this ad makes my heart ache.
The beetle was also the longest in production car ever that used the same platform for all those years. Another car manufacturer claims they have the best selling car of all time but the platform was not the same while it was restyled numerous times. The beetle was the same platform with no changes. Volkswagen produced almost 22 million of the original beetle with the engine in the back before the new beetle came out.
I never was a car person, but recently, when I saw a VW Beetle 2012 (the latest model) it was love at first drive. I drove it and it was like no other car. Now I’m something of a car person and take care of all the cars in my family. I’m making wonderful memories in it, and it has changed my life. Got me out of my fear of driving, and now it’s the most iconic car. I just wish it came back so one day I could buy a brand new one.
@@stephenking5852 you are blessed my friend. Still driving my Beetle. Had to fix the common problem of water pump leak, but with that metal one it shouldn’t have any more issues.
I’m 38 now, still own my first car which is a beetle. My wife is having our first baby in a few weeks. I’m officially going to be the old man at he end of the ad in a few years!! Cracking advert. Shame it never made it onto tv here in the UK
The Volkswagen Beetle was truly an icon in its own world, nothing had quite as much joy and happiness of this one little car. While it may be gone, it will never be forgotten as a true icon of the 20th-21st century. Thank you Volkswagen for everything.
A very beautiful commercial indeed. I haven't got my driver's license yet, but once I do, I'll find an old VW beetle, I'll buy it, paint it, and I'll preserve it with all my heart. Even if my beetle will be the only one left, I won't let it die
My grandpa passed away recently from lung cancer and this car was a special part of my life its sad to see it leave it makes me cry every time I hear this and I always wanted a Volkswagen beetle but now my time to do so is on the clock, I will get one in honor of my grandpa. Rest In Peace, Chris Wilkin you will be honored for your service in the marines. 🙁🇺🇸
I love this car so much !! So many memories 😢when I first went to school my dad got a 65 because it was his favourite he picked me up from school using it ,from that point it taught me and my dad how a carburettor , fuel pump , flat six , aerodynamics how does it works a lot of pieces of knowledge I have gathered thanks to this Volkswagen and I am working towards being a Volkswagen designer but now after hearing this I've never felt this much pain and sadness it is like loosing the closest best friend who has helped me so much . 😢😢😭😭 It makes me want to cry before even starting to watch this video
My wife's first car was 63 beetle she loved it to death but had to sell it 6 years ago... But just recently surprised her a 72 super and in process to get it on the road.
Love it. Takes me back to the VW bug my Grandmother drove in the late 60's. She said it was "beer bottle green." It had a distinctive VW smell. Loved that car, loved her & going places with her in that car!
Throughout high school and college i drove a ‘69 Beetle. He was called Wally. He treated me well. Sadly had to sell him a couple weeks ago. Breaks my heart a little bit. Till the next one... beetles will always have my love❤️
I just know that Volkswagen Beetles will MAKE A COMEBACK Someday, We might be there, Somehow We'll see it. And when they make a comeback, I hope that they will make them both electric and self-driving just like Herbie The Love Bug.
This reminds me of my dads barracuda he left me. He died and left it to me to have it. Unfortunately, for years I’ve tried to revive it and sadly it never did. It made me sad because it was the only thing I had of him. I remember seeing it being towed off, I waved and said goodbye to it. Wish I did the same with my dad
I remember when I was a teenager back in 1999 or 2000 my father's girlfriend's daughter had a brand new Beetle in THE most beautiful lavender color. I had never seen a car that color before. I couldn't believe when I first got into her car how roomy and comfortable it actually was because it looked so tiny from the outside. I rode with her a few times, and I remember one of the times she was blasting the song 'Where My Girls At?' by 702 on repeat and we sang it over and over like 6 times.😂 I loved that car! One day she came by and I didn't see her Beetle, so I asked her what happened to it and she told me that it was stolen. I was sad like somebody had stolen MY car lol! She hadn't even had that car for a full year before it was stolen. When she replaced her Beetle she got a car of a totally different make and model. So 1999/2000 was the first and last time I ever rode in a VW Beetle and now they don't even make them anymore.😭
ive never owned an old bug, its always been a dream to at least drive one or own one, one time. but this ad made me cry for as attached as i am to the love bug as a disney movie.
Out of college in 1970, bought a new 1971 Super Beetle. Options were radio, undercoating, window vents. Bottom line cost $2300 home in the garage. My only comment was, it's underpowered. Great car. Wanted the car in white, but white was not available in 1971 for the Super Beetle. So, beige it was. Took just over 3 months to get it.
Altough I never had a Beetle, I had a crush on them since I first watched the movie "Herbie goes Banana". The Beetles were and are still very popular here in Brazil, with 3 million being produced. They are known here as "Fusca". The last Beetle made in Brazil was rolled out from the factory in 1996.
I remember when this was on on New Year’s Eve I was so depressed because my aunt had a Volkswagen beetle and she sold it and this made me really appreciate Volkswagen beetles and that’s why I am into the love bug now
It’s beautiful to see one of the worlds most beloved cars go but it is very loving and symbolic that it turns into a lightning bug Volkswagen Beetle forever
i never knew that my father own a Yellow '74 bug. After my Father died, a few months later my uncle told me that my father bug is in his garage and not moving also had the engine broke but still can be repaired since 2012 and now i'm rebuilding it as my first car :)
That really moved me. Such a profoundly simple car & how it won the hearts of generations all over the world. I'm picking my '64 up tomorrow to start our journey with a legend :)
Sold my '66 this year. Wished life was different and that I could have kept him, but it is what it is. I still cry when I start remembering that little thing and all the memories it held.
The ad is frankly depressing, but the thought of a company like Mercedes-Benz, the inventors of the Automobile, producing their final gasoline powered vehicle, in the next 10-15 years depresses me. 130+ years of innovation, finally done. Like the end of a grand book. I don’t like to think about it.
I own a 1999 that was my dream car but has a lot of problems lately I can’t keep it so I’m going to buy something new, so many memories that was my first car ever
Don't do something you might regret in years to come. So many of us long for those first cars we owned. I loved the New Beetle when it came out and my late parents had a 2000 they bought new and drove all over the country in their retirement.
I just bought myself a 99 Beetle TDI with 248k on it. I’ve had it for a month and it has 249k on it now. I love the car so much I hope it lasts as long as possible. ❤
This add depicts something modern cars will never achieve: Timelessnes. The beetle was such an iconic and timeless little car. I just wish volkswagen would see the errors of their ways and bring it back and that more faithful to the original design.
There’s no point, compared to other cars of today the beetle is underpowered and cheaply designed sure it was “the peoples car” but those times have passed and cars are becoming electric and getting waaay to much horsepower and tech built into them because that’s what people see as luxury to them these days
I’m about to sell my dear beloved new beetle, that my parents gave me when I turned 16. I lived so many adventures with that car. It will take away a piece of my heart. I hope I can take a last ride before saying good bye😢 Thank you mom & dad for giving me such an iconic model, that would bring so much joy to my life.
I remember seeing this on Volkswagen's RU-vid channel and commented on it before their comment section got disabled. Nearly two years later, I still want to say, "what a big sendoff"!
The Ford model T held the title as the best selling car of all time until 1972. In 1972, the Volkswagen Beetle took that title away from Ford, and it was the best selling car of all time. The Beetle was produced from 1938 to 2003, and also was the longest in production car of all time that used the same platform.
I have good memories of the beetle. Even sat it once during a screening of Herbie: Fully Loaded. Seeing this again after Covid hits me hard as I'll not only miss it dearly (VW decided to let go of it completely even before the pandemic) but it ends a legacy of what truly the people's automobile is. A people's car for people, ein volkswagen für menschen. Tears rolled down as I realized the Beetle had to go.
There are a lot of strategies to make tongue-wetting profit that the average joes don't know. . Personally, the financial-market for me seems the only way forward with my long time horizon (accrued roughly $457k in gains since Mid 2021 ) but if you don’t have that fortune of time it’s a tough market out there almost nowhere feels safe!
If you’ve got patience I believe it’s a great time to invest… I’m no expert but as Warren buffet said he’s seen this happen a number of times throughout his life
@@raychristopher7797 I've known I had wanted to start investing for a few months but just haven't been brave enough to start due to the market so far this year. I have $60k I want to transfer into an S&S ISA but it's hard to bite the bullet and do it. $457 is a huge milestone, Please what's your strategy? I will love to have an insight
