Bought it in 2016, first journey has been to the south of france, Collioure. 10 h for 1020 km (2 breaks, each half an hour , no refueling) and an average fuel consumption of 4.8 l/100 km. Great car, no regrets ! (2 Liter TDI, 150 hp)
Have no idea what people are going on about saying this car has a boring design. I for one thinks is looks stunning. Very classy and upmarket. Those curves and creases found in nearly every other car, which makes them all look the same, are in fashion one year and out the next. Volkswagen has a certain style about them. This design will look modern in 15 years time from now. It is very Germanic. Clean, efficient and classy. Looks like a beautiful car. Will certainly be looking at them in a couple of months time. Great review as always. This format is of course the best !
Firemarioflower The new superb is certainly superb. People are comparing its refinement to rolls royces, which they are probably right. I think this passat is incredibly stylish, I'm sure it is better finished in terms of material quality compared to the superb, maybe uses better sound deadening, but there are differences in build, but you really have to look for them.
Iv had a 2.0 tdi GT Passat B8 for 5 years (iv had 6 Passats and normally keep for 3 years) it has been faultless and regularly returns 60 mpg on a run,has no squeeks or rattles and is a joy to drive
I own the new passat and it's a great great car. The interior is very good looking and has high quality materials and the exterior is just beautiful. I have the 1.4 tsi and the fuel efficiency is about 1/12 I love it just love it. Feels better than sitting in the small c class even tough the merc is beautiful
The Passat is one of the best (if not the best) comfy cruiser, low consumption, silent inside, etc... However in my opinion it is a very boring car. I really feel very disconnected from the road. But that's just me :) Anyway nowadays it's hard to go wrong with any car. Even the worst car today is a fantastic car compared to what I started with :)
What I like about u guys is that u guys review car awesomely and most of these cars are present in India too so it helps us to understand the difference what we get in India and what is sold internationally .! Awesome guys keep up the work .! :)
If only Vw could give their engineers a few weeks practice in a Japanese - Honda/Toyota/Nissan - design bureau so they learn not to pile up parts and give components a simpler design. I would buy one.
what he,s not telling you , 70 mpg on the motorway or dual carriage ways, i get 64.7 and above regular , use premium deisel fuel always, regular service it, its a nice motor. i had the cc but i found the cc to be nice but i did not need all that room and in the passat the rear seating is better in the cc its got more low down low curved roof, so thats a problem the passat is way better and roomy too, 2.0 tdi 150 bhp is teh best engine allround, great mpg. I,m very happy with mine.
1:16 Also means, if you spilll something there... you're gonna go though hell to clean it. 1:24 My 2001 Jetta has that, no progress here, just getting less cheap in materials.
I’ve got 2020 plate 1.6 vw passat saloon diesel automatic. I’ve get around 70 mpg on motorway and when I’ve filled it shell v power diesel I’ve got 80.5 mpg
Really impressive figures. I've got a 2.0 TDI 4Motion and if I drive really carefully I can "only" get about 60-65 on a motorway run; granted it is an estate which will always be less aerodynamic than a saloon, plus it has awd.
I got a used 2015 2.0 TDI, the previous owner sold it as it wasn't powerful enough for them after it was restricted due to emissions stuff. I've been having issues with the DPF due to it being restricted it doesn't seem to want to regenerate itself even if I thrash the crap out of it, the idle doesn't seem so good and everyone seems to be charging ridiculous amounts to do it. Other than that it is a good car. Is there somewhere that sells alternative engines for these?
tavi921 cheap plastic or fabric wrap may help hide the sheet metal, i dont mean to whine just seems silly for a high end car to have bare metal showing.
Tail finz well go see the boot of the new c class, the back of the seats are black metal, not fabric or plastic has any normal car from this century...
it can be a little crude but metal in a car by itself is fine. its not like seeing the sheet metal of the exterior on the inside. a good example of this is the interior of the ford ka. its like being sat in the back of a transit.

Unfortunately, as good as the Passat is, it's main rival is it's own family member, the Skoda Superb. VAG always had problems with internal canibalisation - but now it's very tough to keep the Passat far above the Superb
Had this car for 6days and did abt 1500miles around the UK. It was a sweet ride. Only cons is that VW fails to put cruise control in the entry level versions, my leg had to be on the turtle/accelerator the whole time. Thats sucks for a 2015 VW passat.
which is the best or the strongest engine in passat? 190hp or 240hp? and what about automatic transmission is it good?does it make problems? Is it better in 4motion? So in short term, is this a such a really good car?

Don't worry you're not supposed to. Ze waftiness, Germans often pronounce "the" as "ze" and waftiness I guess just means a smooth ride comfort. So basically it's an accent thing.
lugiar0815 It means the car feels like it floats over the road, and doesn't actually ride on it. It's a common thing in high end German cars which are isolated from the road imperfections so well that no vibrations whatsoever get near you.
i drove almost all the car of the same class, you name it, Mazda 6, Accord, Camry, Sonata. You cant beat the Passat in term of power and handling. No way. SO i dont know why matt is saying Mazda 6 is better handled
Although I am a great fan of CarBuyer vids, I will strongly disagree with some things in this one. Firstly, who really considers Volkswagen a premium brand? OK, the company itself tries very hard to imply it, and so do some reviewers, but seriously who really thinks it can compete with Merc. Or BMW in any case? Moreover, it may be a nice car (although a little conservative overall, but with some blatant details, to give a "premium" look) but VW 's are not that reliable, in my opinion. Especially their diesel engines. Lastly, their build quality seems to me just average, and to be honest, inferior than the other "German" competitors of VW (such As Ford) I think that VW has nothing to do with the good old company, that made a name for the reliability and innovation.
Tambo74 The Avensis is a reliable, safe and comfortable motorway cruiser, but the Mondeo and the Mazda 6 are much better in terms of engine availability and handling.
Carbuyer Better engine availability? The VW Passat only come in diesel format the Avensis has capable Diesel and petrol engines.. as for handling the Avensis is again a very capable car on any of our roads also it is a saloon just like the VW Passat, however i do acknowledge it doesn't come in a hatchback model. But saying that, the Toyota Avensis isn't quite as popular as the Ford Mondeo
Tambo74 Spend 10 minutes in a Passat and 10 minutes in an Avensis, and you'll see why it's not an alternative. It's a silly comparison. Even a Golf 7 makes the Avensis feel like a cheaper, less refined car. The quality of materials in the Avensis is laughable, I'd say the current Polo is above. Every plastic surface in the Avensis squeaks when you press on it a bit and there's that crumbly cheap plastic feel to everything.

***** I would assume it's based on market research. Most passat customers are business/ fleet/ company car buyers, so they tend to buy diesel engines anyway, especially in the UK. Infact I don't think I've ever seen a (TSI) petrol passat in real life.
It just costs way more than a Camry or Accord in my country. Yeah I know Volkswagen is trying to go upmarket but it's getting a bit close to an ES 350 already. Thing is though, I'd pick this over any Lexus any day. Classy, restrained styling, really nice interior materials.
@@kari9856 They are comparable. Lexus has never been good enough to compare to the big 3 German premium brands (Mercedes, BMW, Audi) so its only right to compare them to VW. Lexus interiors always have alot of cheap hard plastic and the infotainment is frankly rubbish. I know someone with a 2018 Lexus RX and its a nice car and very quiet but the interior in places has some of the cheapest, nastiest Toyota plastics out there. Compare a Touareg with an RX and the Touareg will feel like the more expensive car despite being a VW. If you mean reliability then obviously Lexus is the best premium brand but when it comes to interiors and perceived quality they just aren't there yet.
André Freitas The rear view camera is located behind the VW emblem/badge. When you activate the camera, the emblem/badge flips open so the camera can point out backwards. You can drive with the rear view camera active if you like. At 5:47, the camera was turning off and the emblem/badge was flipping back into its natural position. That part must have been edited out from this video.
Seems like a very well built car to me with some fine attention to detail. But it's not the sort of car you hop out of and want to look back at is it? The Mondeo has that badge. For me, this particular car would not be practical enough for me. That's where a hatch is the way to go. In Australia the price difference between the two diesel models is only $1.5k. For the base model the Mondeo is $200 darer!

Mazda 6 Hard suspension for great handling Vw passat softer suspension set up, Toyota avensis softest set up. They all do the same job The avensis will be better on the motorway were the Maz/Vw are better on Country roads .
This may sounds weird, but the reason why I'm not a fan of VW car is that.....it's too good, it's like that one person who's had to be right on everything. I respect it fully but it's kind of painful.
Only diesels available in England! Poor English people... Volkswagens TSI-engines are really, really good. And they don't sound like old tractors... :-)
