VW design are spot on just now. Just what VW need after the past two years. The GTI is very desirable. Brian did a great job.

Brian was like a pro in middle of that insanity of a launch event and still remaining calm and informative! I had the previous Polo, it was a good car but not that fun to drive, maybe this new one will handle better considering the platform has changed completely.

Always preferred the Polo over Golf and new one is another fantastic evolution from previous model. New fascia and additional bonnet strip ( like Arteon ) is alright. Rear end is very nice and uncluttered with a very wide stance. Color matching dashboard really livens up the interior. Fine review Brian even with all the people mulling over the new car.

I've been a Fiesta owner all my life, Mk 2, 4, 5 and 6 - never had an issue withe them... but VW have knocked it out of the park with this one, and have convinced me to switch, it looks gorgeous and is equipped up to the max... you do have to pay a premium for it though.

The biggest progress of the new VW Polo are the design of the front and of the interior. Furthermore I really enjoy the infotainment and assistant system options.👍 Of course my favorite Polo is the GTI with 200hp but I think the R-Line package also fits perfectly.😍 Maybe the new Polo gets the best GTI because this car is very compact.🔥🔴 Can`t wait for the review 😊Thx

Brian, I know this is not a fashion channel, but you can make a massive improvement. You have a long torso and short legs and that long oversized jacket and those very long pants make you look even shorter. Good luck in the future!

Thanks for the video!! I own a 2003 Polo Comfortline and it looks much better finished with fabric covered rear door panels, disappointed to see rear doors with only plastic panels in the 2018 Highline. Also the central console's right side by the gear shift looks weird and I wonder if the passenger will hit the gearshift when trying to reach the USB ports. The central panel looks nice but I will miss the storage area that the 2003 has below the wheel and the glove box. Exterior design is very nice and cannot wait to see it in person.

I also feel i have to comment on the customization options. Its simply NOT TRUE you have 17 options for the interior trim color, according to the current configurator I don't get further than six. And evenmore so; not all trim options can be combined with all paint options (that is almost always the case, but journalists often forget to mention). Its a load of marketing bollocks to name it 'endless' options because this is absolutely not the case. Its just repeating VWs brochure bla-bla instead of conducting some investigation in whether its actually true. I think the 17 options are in total, so you have 17 options to combine paint, roof, en trim. That is it.

Firstly, great report - really well done and very detailed - thank you! I have a 2015 Comfortline and its been a good car (shame about the shocking dealer experience), so i'm looking forward to seeing how the equipment levels play out for the Australian market. We'll likely keep having the Polo sourced from South Africa (nothing wrong with that, they are built well there) but the Australian market will likely not get the R-Line or a diesel. Line up will probably be Trendline, Beats, Comfortline and GTi, with the 1.5 as standard on the Comfortline, the Trendline and Beats keeping the 1.2 and the GTi taking the 2.0, with DSG only (which is daft, I want the 6-speed manual, thanks). Our market is so tight and competitive, yet the returns relatively small, so VW will pitch a price rise and I wouldn't buy one for the first six months to a year as VW will release an update - they did that to me literally months after purchase, so I missed out on Android Auto. The flipside here is that the Polo is sailing into shark-infested waters in the Australian market, with Hyundai and the i30 now being a serious challenger, the Mazda 2 very close to the Polo, with several other brands placing strong pressure. The GTi will likely start at just over $31k AUD. Warranty must improve from the current 3 year, Unlimited kms though, especially as several brands have 5 year, Unlimited kms warranties here. Finally, VW must transform the dealer and service experience, which, quite frankly is bordering on arrogance and ignorance in some quarters, and the head office response is shockingly poor as well. It is enough to make me seriously consider my options come trade in time.

Lol there is no need to guess the wheel size because the tyres have written it on them. The 'Bonneville' alloys under the Beats car are 17" by the way.

Nice review Brian. Performed under far from ideal conditions; thanks for your patience. But oh dear! A crappy, ancient handbrake. I love my Golf Mk7's Audi-style electric parking brake and hold assist. I couldn't go back to 1900's technology. Other than that, the new Polo is near-perfect.

Good job Brian. Lots of cost cuttings and less attention to detail, especially for people who are used to previous generations of VWs. eg 24:00 Highline trim and no fabric in the rear door cards, really VW? Bit disappointed from the styling too.

these sensors work a treat unless they are covered in Snow. Mazdas seem to be leading the way in standard kit.

As a 2010 Fiesta owner, I have to say that 2017 Fiesta got uglier and 2017 Polo prittier.

Great review! About the car; If you want to modernize - follow through. Volkswagens anxiety of customers risking not feeling at home has resulted in disharmony and that the pieces don't go together. Best example for me is the dashboard with the great new middle console together but with that dated speedometer cluster leaving a feeling of lack of identity. Volkswagen remains competent but unexciting.

Please VW bring out an R version of the Polo.

It has a sportier and prettier shape than the Golf. The sloping rear line reminds me of the older A3 hatchback. The Golf has become too flat and box-like.

I think I’d use a different word for the beats interior... perhaps “garish” would be a more fitting term.

Great review.. Congrats to that. About the Polo, yeah I think its better than the old generation, more sportie and definitely more aggressive style.. But......it doesn´t show any work and effort on design and tecnologie.. If we think a little bit nothing on that its actually new.. The back its completely the same as the current Polo, just a few touches on the lights, some wheels came from Golf such as other elements like some lines on the body taken form the new Arteon.....the inteior is a mix of Beetle and Up with too "TV´s" from the new Golf and Arteon,... I mean.. What??? Its a Polo, its not a premium model.. That interior its not an interior of a little car with a little price... They didn´t do nothing.. Just like all models on the range... All similar since 1980.. Nothing really screaming, nothing new, just the same.. Cars for rent a car and normal drivers...

For the GTI.. I prefer a more sporty analog dial dash...and seperated from multimedia infotainment... This new look its kinda cool maybe for average ppl but it kinda reminds me sth between an S class merc and a truck dash hehe. Exterior wise the new front looks bigger more aggresive but i prefered the old rear.

Hi Guys , a suggestion- with the detailed review videos also make some short ones ,like 5-10 mins one.. As an example Carwow used the above clip and added voice over added caption as "New 2018 VW polo..." and got 350000 plus views whereas you detailed review got 45000 so far. I hate when hard working , honest people are outnumbered and outpaced by tricksters and wannabes . People who are not car enthusiasts sometimes like 5-10 mins videos and may not watch your videos seeing 45/30 mins .So please think about my suggestion Team. I want Autogefuhl to grow. Good Luck.

I have Skoda Rapid and I can say - exterior is really cool but mirrors have obsolete gripping. Interior - I feel hard plastic lowcost like in Rapid, small front window, too much low cailing so 180cm high man has eyes in the edge of window :-) New Fiesta is not very nice but it is a more honest car for me :-)

crisp video, I do own 2015 generation Polo, with 1.2tsi, and the one thing I love most about it - is the proper, real man's handbrake, that enables to do some fun stuff, and I am glad to see that they continue to have normal handbrake in this new updated version, well done VW
