I wonder what it is that makes me listen to Volodos‘ recordings over and over again…. It never gets boring. And how lucky are we that we may be listeners to this outstanding musical gifting. It soothes my soul and more. His first version was great also, but this one ie even better

I want to go to one of his concerts, sadly im only 13. really love arcadi volodos, he practically inspired me to want to play the piano after seeing an arrangement of his turkish march on canteen's channel a couple of years ago.

I met Arcadi in 1993 when he was totally unknown, his approached of the music and the piano helped me a lot in my own development. We are from time still in private contact. I am surprised that he decided again to play his very impressive transcriptions in concert. Thank you for sharing !

I met him once briefly when I was auditioning at Juilliard in 2001. Didn't talk much, so I assumed he didn't speak english

Hopefully! When I heard him in 2019 he played pianissimo for the entire concert to the point everyone was eventually bored to tears…. even in the Scriabin and Rachmaninoff there was no fire. Maybe it was just a phase, this video is a very welcome change and indeed hopefully signals the return of Master Volodos!

@@sacrilegiousboi978it’s probably much deeper than a “phase.” I heard from various places (i.e. the most reputable source, RU-vid comments) that he wasn’t happy how his rise to stardom relied on virtuosity. His relationship with piano, musicianship, and performance life is complex. I remember from a documentary I watched that he likes to take 1-2 week breaks from piano after concerts or tours.

@herobrine1847 why's that something to be ashamed of? But his musicality was otherworldly also (mostly). I can tell when he's at odds with certain repertoire, and that's ok--hes human

Absolutely stunning piano playing and just heard his recent arrangement of Lecuona's Malgueña in his recital in Stockholm on November 26. As impressive as this video!

Exactly. Relatively simple changes compared to the previous ones, but so captivating.

@@Tompiano999yes, all of them. I will upload all the recital, but it takes so long for youtube. And one more encore, Skrijabin I think Mazurka. The other encores I didn‘t record. Were 4 of them.
