Don't you just love how Tiki is responsible when she sees the book and tells Marinette it's important, but Plague doesn't say anything about the peacock miraculous that's literally right there.
Lila is honestly one of the worst written characters in the show. I really like the idea behind her- a liar who gets everyone’s favor that eventually uses her lies against the main character- but the execution was just so badly done from the beginning. The writers act like she’s a bigger deal than she is, you pointed out Alya’s video of her getting massive clicks as a prime example- there’s no way that would get that many views. Even 10 years ago on the internet that could be so quickly verified, or even if people don’t try to they’d be so full of doubt. You are also so right about how school kids would react to her; I told some of my classmates once about me meeting a famous person at an event (just meeting, not getting close with or becoming bffs like Lila claims) and I got blasted with “pics or it didn’t happen.” Though to be fair on the knowing famous people thing, their school is a bit of a weird outlier: Adrien (famous model and son of famous fashion designer), Chloe (daughter of Paris mayor and famous fashion critic), Aurore (kids weather station that apparent gets a lot of fans), Marinette (personally asked by Jagged Stone, the #2 music artist, to design his album cover), Rose (went on a date with Prince Ali), Alya (famous blogger who got to personally interview Ladybug), Nino (performed at a TV station twice (in Simon Says)). And that’s just the season 1 stuff on the top of my head! So the kids’ judgement on what’s normal in regards to meeting famous people might be a bit skewed lol. But they should definitely be a bit more skeptical, especially about being best friends with Ladybug, when it was already very difficult to get a hold of her, as Alya should know. I also feel like even if they believe her, at least some kids should be annoyed by her. I know if I was in that school, I would have avoided her like the plague, because I’d see her telling everyone about all the famous people she knows and instantly think “oh great, she’s an attention seeking bragger, gross.” I always hated being around those people, even if I knew what they were saying was true. But maybe that’s just me.
No you are so right! Even little kids I’ve been around who watch that show are really annoyed with Lila and she made me angry too because she’s just so annoyingly unrealistic. I understand that it’s a kid show and we can’t expect too much, but come on, some of those lies she spouts are just downright dumb and completely unbelievable. If even your younger audience can tell that, then you’ve got a problem with the writing.
The worst part for me is that I love villains like Lila! Those devious masterminds that seem to charm everyone, but yes she is written so bad and all the others are made so dumb that every kid and every adult just believes whatever she says whenever she says. You summed up my feelings pretty well
Honestly? Lila wasn't even that bad back then. Her hatred for ladybug was completely justified. Getting humiliated in front of your crush like that? Yikes. Like considering the class consits of: - the daughter of the poliece chief - the son of a famous fashion designer - the son of an Astronaut - the daughter of a famous rockstar - the daughter of a stage actor - the daughter of the best bakers in town, who personally worked with previously mentioned rockstar, etc. Do Lila's claims about knowing famous manga artists and whatever even seem that unbelievable?
@@mayotango1317 yeah, that's weird. They never even interacted Pre-chameleon. Instead they just made her a criminal Mastermind an con artist at age 15 apparently
You forgot that it was revealed later that "Lila" (which may or may not even be her real name) has been deceiving people long before she ever met Marinette/Ladybug, even using several fake identities. Also, Max's mom isn't an astronaut at this point in the series. She was a train conductor before she completed her astronaut training in season 3.
To be fair, if spider man called me a douche, id be like “oh my god…he knows who I am!” Then id go through some weird arc and become a super villain who wants to ruin peter parkers life
@@hayleymcgough8567 I think Eddie Brock already had that badge of honor in other forms of media before he even became one of Marvel's best Anti-Heroes which was honestly how I always saw Cerise as during her first debut before and how to see her character explored more deeply than these seasons 1-5 did that just kept us in the dark for that long then
Since Lila was written so ludicrously from her very first appearance, that gave me an idea for my AU of Miraculous Ladybug, where Lila has the Fox Miraculous and conjures up illusions of her lies to make it appear she is telling the truth. At least so the rest of the cast doesn’t appear to be complete idiots only when Lila is in the room.
If Lila tried to make those claims in real life she would be immediately met with "yeah riiiiight..." followed by some sarcastic remark like "and I'm the queen of England" or something like that.

@@craigpeoples9883 Forgive me for saying so, but you try to rationalize ANYTHING in Miraculous, you'll sadly lose your sanity. There is good nor right way to analyze this mess of a series. For some reason, Volpina became one of my favorite fictional cartoon crushes ever since I saw this episode. Foxes are one of my favorite wild animals, so I guess Volpina just sparked something in me.
It's funny how Tikki convinced Marinette to follow Lila to get the book when Marinette just wanted to tell Adrien about Lila stealing the book. Also, it's so interesting to see how uncomfortable Adrien is when Lila is flirting with him, which continues in the show. So, he was beyond awkward before Adrien knew Lila was a liar. And I can't blame Marinette for reacting like she did because I would also hate if someone lied about being my best friend to gain popularity. Again, Alya, you're supposed to be a reporter who wants to report the truth. Yet, here she believes some random person who she just met and, as far as she knows, barely moved to Paris is somehow Ladybug's "best friend" without confirming it with Ladybug herself or thinking critically like serious Alya it's going to be a miracle if you get a job as a reporter because this interview with Lila will always hang over your head for not doing your research. Also, Alya, did it not cross your mind how bad of an idea it would've been to post it on the Ladyblog knowing that Hawk Moth would look through your blog to get any information on the heroes he can use to his advantage. Again, it's a miracle that Lila isn't much of a target for Hawk Moth, as he knows the truth 😑😑😑.
Volpina was clearly the first episode where I facepalmed for the first time. I clearly felt that this series treated me like a complete idiot. I was like: "Do you seriously think that I will take seriously a teenage girl who has lies of the same quality than a 5 years old?"
What always frustrated me about Lila’s lies, specifically about Prince Ali, is that ROSE is friends with the man! Did they just conveniently forget that!? She should see right through Lila’s BS with one conversation with him! “Hey, you know my friend Lila, right?” “Who?” And the whole lie falls apart. Heck! If I remember right, before the whole Juleka X Rose ship set sail, it was implied that Rose was DATING him! How did Lila get away with that one!?
@@SecretMagician Well the miraculous are basically extremely strict and secretive concerning the holder's ID to remain a secret. Remember back in Season 2 when The Dark Owl forced Ladybug and Cat Noir to detransform, Tikki and Plaag were extremely shocked to discover the ID of the opposite holder. By following your logic, Both Kwamis should have discovered the secret since season one as Marinette and Adrien in their civilian personas are constantly together, either in school or just hanging out. But they didn't. Proof that Kwamis can't sense one another when their Miraculous is in camouflage mode.
While she's still personally the bane of my existence 😂 I remember the day she came out and was instantly controversial! Honestly to this day I still wish we had a fox fight between alya and her 😮
*I will never understand why they made Chloe the irredeemable monster (A character who I might add is clearly the victim of a narcissistic parent) when they had Lila/Cerise the textbook psychopath right there. (And before anyone says, yes I do know it’s because Astruc based Chloe on his own childhood bully but that is honestly no excuse).*
I agree like they could have used Lila for something like do they just forget they have irredeemable characters already but they just had to make Chloe the character with the most trauma irredeemable
All the stupid crap Lila makes up is so ridiculous like, HOW do they believe her until THE END OF SEASON 5??????? They may as well be as smooth-brained as Gabriel.
Yeah honestly sometimes I feel like Marinette gets judge too hard especially since she’s 14. Honestly the only thing that really bothered me is the fact that she never gets punished for her actions but that’s more of a writing issue than a character one.
Lila has got to be one of the worst written characters. If a show is going to have the "liar" character, it needs to be done right. Instead of having her telling outlandish stories straight from the get go that would make the entire class look dumb as hell, high schoolers mind you, have her tell little lies. Ones that would be easily believable and could slowly build distrust between Marinette and her peers. Most of the lies told in Chameleon were good ones. Believable ones. It doesn't always have to be anything audible. Show it through body language like her sitting with Rose in the background as she points in Marinette's direction with a distasteful facial expression. If they had done that from the beginning, the payoff of her being revealed as a liar would have been much more satisfying. What we got wasn't really satisfying. It was more of a relief that she was exposed so we wouldn't have to put up with how dumb Mari's classmates were. Including Alya the self proclaimed reporter ffs. On top of that, they could have written her in a way she came to Paris to get to Hawkmoth for her own personal gain, already hating Ladybug and Marinette(because of how popular Marinette is) and eventually obtaining the butterfly miraculous she eventually got at the end of season 5. It's clear the writers wanted Lila to be a master manipulator, but my god the execution failed hard when they went with all the outlandish lies right off the bat and Lila's character suffered majorly in terms of development and pacing. It was just wildly inconsistent. Bringing up MLP Equestria Girls for a moment so spoiler warning: In the movie, the main 5 in Canterlot High were not friends. Why? Because of Sunset Shimmer being the cause of distrust among the 5 girls by dividing and conquering. In fact, that's probably how she managed to become the queen bee at Canterlot High by spreading rumors and lies about others. Hell she nearly even got Twilight in trouble by framing her of destroying the decorations in the gym. The Miraculous Ladybug writers could have gone down a similar route for Lila, but with her goal of getting the butterfly miraculous. Hell, they could have even had her gain Ladybug and Chat Noir's trust, let her join after the box was given to Marinette, only for her to double cross them once Hawkmoth was defeated. Definitely way more believable than whatever they did with Felix and Ladybug thinking he was Adrien because of her obsession with him. That would have been much better writing than what we got.
I hate lila with a burning passion. I had someone like her in my life. Where I live you have a elementary school for every village and a middle/high school (in Germany those aren't separate) in the bigger town closest to you. Everyone from her school knew her reputation and no one liked her. I was shy and quiet and my friends from elementary where on a different school and making friends was hard for me. Especially in a tight-knit community as mine we just moved to the year Prior. She was my friend and enemy at the same time. She was nice one day and bullying me the next. My mom was on her death bed do to cancer and she made fun of me for it. No one else wanted anything to do with me because I was her "friend". She moved away in 7th grade but her reputation stuck to me for a long while. I got to talk to some of my class mates 2 months before graduation and they told me that my Lila threatened them into staying away from me. And I was to shy when she wasn't even there anymore and I didn't have contact to her. College was great though, no one knew me and everything worked out good for me but still...
But surely, Plagg would have recognized the symbol of The Order on the book, or notice the broach and think, hmm, that looks familiar. Even if it was broken or in camouflage mode, you'd think Plagg would have recognized the broach given it was in the miracle box at some point. Also how did Plagg never stumble across Nooroo or Dusuu? Kwamis can phase through walls and floors. Sure while he's lazy at times, Plagg has a mischievous personality, you're telling me he never bothered to explore the manor out of boredom, or hunting for more Camembert and found the lair by accident.
Everyone about plagg and the peacock but your forgetting a factor. Thomas doesn't want Adrien to know things he can't know anything because to him he isn't important as Marinette.
I always really loved Lila much more befitting of a scheming fox than Alya who’s just, good and nice 😐 missed opportunity to have a actual school miraculous villian that didn’t completely suck at their job like chloe 🫥
7:29 I guessed that they figured that was Hawkmoth from how similar he looked to the picture of a wielder of The Moth Brooch. In fact it would be a bit funny if "Lila" was just guessing when she made that illusion.
Its still weird how everyone seems to just believe Lila on her first day, like, one lie, i can understand, but ffs. Alya is supposedly smart but would rather believe her than her own best friend
Cool video😊. Clarification; no, it's only the first day for Lila. Others are in the school for a bit already. For example, Marinette recognises Fu, healing Tikki in Princess Fragrance, so at least 3 previous episode (first day being the Origin specials)
You know what I'm just assuming is that how on Earth does Plagg not know that brooch was with the peacock miraculous I mean, Come On!! This video is so bloody accurate on how crazy and cringe season 1 was😂
I found it kind of odd that Adrien never once investigates that area further, now that he knows that his dad hides things behind that portrait this should make him suspicious as to what else his father is hiding. I can understand why he wouldn’t want to investigate around that area again, seeing as his father overreacted the first time. I just don’t get why he never explored again. I know he wasn’t paying as much attention to the peacock miraculous, but that was also there, if he payed attention he could’ve figured out Hawk Moth’s identity in Season 3 when Hawk Moth and Natalie first decided to use the peacock miraculous. But honestly, even if he didn’t notice the Peacock Miraculous, it is still quite suspicious that his father has a book on each of the miraculous, that alone should’ve been cause to investigate further. The only real reason I can think of is that Adrien wouldn’t want to break his father’s trust again.
1:35 THIS and also the fact that Plagg flies within a few inches of the peacock miraculous and doesnt have any kind of reaction. I know hes not the smartest but he isnt stupid, hes a celestial being probably as old as the universe. I would think hed at least look at it and think "hey this looks familiar"
honestly all the classmates getting hit by dumb brain can be explained by the fact that this is a kids show and all the students are fictional who take everything in good faith, unless the plot demands that they don't. Like, a little white lie about how you got to meet a celebrity at a meet and greet is like whatever, but Lila saying that she personally knows all these famous people and can introduce them to the others? Now that's a pretty big fucking lie. Especially bc Lila is gonna promise that she's gonna introduce them and that they can rely on her, when it's all a huge lie, and the kids would be dumb enough to put all their eggs into this one basket, and then when Lila can't deliver (bc she's a liar), their futures could potentially be ruined. Or they would at least suffer a huge setback. But even if not, there's also the question of what exactly was Lilas plan even to begin with? She wanted Adrien, but like, did she come to this school solely because Adrien was attending it and she knew? I know Marinette often kind of stalks Adrien, but Lila isn't exactly much better in that regard. And if her plan was to get with Adrien, surely she knows that his father is not only also super famous, but also extremely catious, who would look to verify every single one of her lies and when he can't, would do his best to keep Lila away from his son, no? Also in later episodes in later seasons when Lila comes back, she's still lying with every breath and when Marinette is the only one to doubt her (due to her being ladybug and what happened in this episode), why is the burden of proof placed on MARINETTE. why does MARINETTE have to prove that Lila is lying, instead of Lila having to prove that she's telling the truth? Or why doesn't Alya so much as just do a quick search on her phone about ANY of Lilas stories? She wants to be a journalist, this kind of thing should be obvious to her, if not second nature! I mean come on! And sure, asking Marinette to prove that Lila is lying is a valid thing to ask when Alya and Nino are both 100% convinced that Lila is telling the truth (even if it's still stupid), but it would be just as valid for Marinette to ask them if they can find proof for anything that Lila says. And i do mean literally anything. Any of her stories. There's also this one story Lila tells that she saved Jagged Stones kitten once when he has a crocodile and it's believable when Lila says that it wasn't always a crocodile, but Marinette has worked for Jagged Stone at least twice the point of that episode, surely it wouldn't be too weird of Marinette to ask him directly if this is true or not, would it? Especially since he seems to really like Marinette from the few moments we see them actually interacting in the show.
Scary when Marinette is right.. Also Plagg is dumb not noticing the peacock miraculous... Also why isn't that book in Gabriel's lair? Hiding if he ever gets burgled...
@@HannahBananabreadpudding but she had the necklace too even before he akumatized her which has me confused. So are there two of the same necklaces going around?
@@gabrielleduplessis7388 the necklace lila has isn’t a miraculous. She bought it at a jewelry store before meeting up with Adrien (which raises a lot of questions regarding how well known the miraculous are) and then hawky used that to akumatize her. So basically Alya has the real necklace and lila has a fake. Hope this helps :)
Gabriel designed the necklace after the miraculous. He stated in season 2 that he uses the Grimoire as inspiration for his fashion designs, so that's probably how Lila bought it from the store.
When Cerise Bianca first debuted as Lila I like to think of her as the "Eddie Brock" in this world here Marinette would be like with her what Peter Parker is with Eddie Brock there like in other forms of media that costed Brock's jobs because of Peter Parker as Spider-Man which I hope they explore and dive deep into her back history unlike the other seasons 1-5 did and just kept us in the dark about after all every anti or full fledged villain has to have a beginning that got them to where they are now when they first debuted just like Felix with his abusive dad when he tells her about that (who I'm assuming is the mystery time travelling individual we'll see in the London special and who not happy that Marinette who he now knows as Ladybug because of Kagami and could link and share that information with Cerise when she's ready to know because Marinette made his uncle who he and Cerise already know was Hawk Moth/Shadow Moth/Monarch and made him look like a sacrificial hero instead of just telling the world on him about it) who's misery didn't just end with his dad and his life outside of home at graduate school was even worse too and the two eventually find out about the alternate Cat Blanc timeline future that once existed before it was undone by Marinette because her, Adrien, Gabe, and Nathalie's actions that costed it to happen in the first place before and that Adrien might develop a split Cat Blanc "Hyde" personality that might prove a potential future threat unless they do something about it first and even travel back into the past before Master Fu accidentally destroyed the temple before and legally try to seize control of it because others like them and Felix's mother are tried with the lives they all got instead and others like them out in the world deserve better (similar to how Killmonger thought Wakanda should've been shared their tools to better the lives of others and fight back against their oppressors) and feel like they should be important and feel like they matter instead of just being forgotten or ignored cause they didn't felt like it at first and that's probably why Cerise lies so much because maybe she did like to lie but she felt like she had to because she probably tried being herself at first and it just failed her before (similar to what made Eddie Brock a complex character in the comics before he even became Venom yet) and the two even find out about the other worlds where Ladybug and Paw Noir (formerly known as Shadybug and Claw Noir) from the Paris special and the movie adaptation of their world which would make Cerise feel that it is kinda nice that there are also versions of her hated enemy that did go out of her way with her privileges as Ladybug to sabotage her Adrien's love life just to keep him to herself before they even got together there yet like the show version always did better and makes her wish they had gotten alternate versions of those characters for their world then the ones they ended up having anyway there
@@mayotango1317 Says the fact that Astruc (who went completely against how we all wanted Gabe's arc in the show to happen like how it should have in the movie by Jeremy Zag) described her as a mix of Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Amelie from the movie "Amelie" before here. Which is a darn shame too, because I also like to see Chloe as more like she is in the series similar to what Flash Thompson is in the Spider-Man mythos and other versions of him went from bullying Peter to becoming close friends with him (like in "Spectacular Spider-Man" for example there) Hopefully, Zag can come in to co-write for the following seasons to balance out Astruc's too if Zag Studios aren't just gonna replace him in terms of writing it (especially after everything he said in that one interview before then if you've seen or heard anything from that lately before here)
