Great vid - I've heard that the engine protector panel can be a bit*h if torque bolt/s spins and doesn’t come out...i wonder if ok to leave it off once its off? Could do with torque settings - especially for oil sump drain bolt please.
Question in regards oil change interval: Volvo says you oil service interval is 10,000km, but I have heard it should be changed every 5000km, which one would be the correct one? It seems majority of mechanics says you need to stick to lower change intervals, rather than specified to prevent sludge build-up?
Yes, but not all comes out. In my case i checked oil level before the change and it was Ok. Just added as same amount what came out, and it was Ok. After a while rechecked and still Ok. If needed, i can add anytime.
Hi, I recently bought a Volvo v40 and the previous owner flooded the 5w30 oil Liqui Molly, next change it back to 0w20 as stated in the book attached to the car?
Hello. As from owner manual it should be V 0W20 www.volvocars.com/uk/support/manuals/v40/2016w46/maintenance-and-service/engine-compartment/engine-oil---grade-and-volume As I did my research I found out that the V indicates oil type to engines with start-stop system. So I just went with the manual and used Castrol Edge Professional V 0W-20
I’d kill the person that puts other than 0w20 in my v40 😂 newer vea engines are NOT made for other oil than 0w20 (except when it’s different specified in the manual)
Has anyone used any other oil that is not VCC RBS0-2AE 0W-20 on their vea engine? In my region only volvo has this oil and do not sell it to the public, it cannot be purchased and shipped either as customs will not let it through. I can get very good a5/b5 0w20 but not the vcc specced oil.

I do not know from what part of the region you are, but maybe just try to buy this Castrol Edge Professional V 0W-20 online then.
@@garageproductions359 That's my problem, the oil you mention, as like almost all vcc approved, are not for sale and cannot be purchased online except from ebay, and customs will not allow any liquids into the country unless they specify the ingredients on the container, so I am at a loss. $200 for an oil change or risk it by buying 0w20 a1/b1.
Hi. As seen in video there was around 4,7 liters old oil. So I filled back with similar amoynt. 4x 1 liter bottles and some extra from last bottle. Oil level was Ok before oil change and after the change.
Hello. Castrol EDGE Professional V 0W-20 is an advanced full synthetic engine oil suitable for use in automotive petrol and diesel engines where the manufacturer recommends an ACEA C5 0W-20 lubricant. ACEA C5 oils are Top Tier lower SAPS1 lubricants. They are designed for use in high performance gasoline and light duty diesel engines where advanced aftertreatment systems such as Diesel Particulate Filters (DPFs) and Three Way Catalysts (TWC) are used. Castrol EDGE 0W-20 V is suitable for use in automotive gasoline and diesel engines where the manufacturer recommends an ACEA A1/B1 specification 0W-20 lubricant. ACEA A1 / B1 specification is intended to be used in petrol engines (normally cars and vans) or light duty diesel engines with an extended service interval. The A1 / B1 specification directly indicates that the oil has low friction, high temperature / high sheer characteristics, ideal for the older type engines.
Did some extra research: If I look owners manual at my previous link I added here, it is stated the oil spec sould be Castrol Edge Professional V 0W-20 or VCC RBS0-2AE 0W-20. This Castrol EDGE 0W-20 V you found is Volvo VCC RBS0-2AE specification, so I think it is good to use.
@@garageproductions359 My last question, which country do you use this Volvo in? Is 0w20 oil suitable for example to the weather conditions in Poland where I live, in my case the temperature exceeds +30 degrees Celsius several times a year.
Hi again. As I see, car manufacturer points out suitable oil. If it's too hot climat, the engine will be cooled by the coolant system and autofan - so this 20 at the end of the 0w20 should be good enough (approved by Volvo). Also I think thinner oil is suitable with modern engines with better built quality. If you want to change, probably just try to find overmatch with some other oil thinckness - those charts should be available at shops where they sell oil. In my case, I have only changed sometimes oil for thicker type, when the engine has worn out. For example I have another thread here with my VW Passat 1,4 TSI. It needs oli 5w40, but with next change I'll go with 10w40. As this first number indicates oil thickness with cold engine, I need to move to thicker oli due to the wear of engine - during winter, hydraulic lifters are making some noises for 3-5 sec, until the oilpressure is built.
Thanks for the notice. I am aware of the air burning effect, but it is quite open garage and heater runs during winter only, when I'm doing some work. Also I ventilate the room casually. Actually I am on lookout for better heater - probably something with diesel where exhaust and fresh air are separated. Also with those diesel heaters I hope to get some thermostat.
