You should have probably mentioned that the dampers are frome Öhrlins and breaks from Brembo. That´s what explains the pricetag!

I absolutely love it! I drive a 12 Mustang GT but I would also drive this car. Something about Volvo..... I love how they are different.

Wow. Close your eyes and listen to the sound this car makes. It definitely does not sound like a Volvo estate car or any estate car for that matter. Totally unexpected.

I have a S60R lightly modded with 320 hp.... And I love it. Some day will have a Volvo Polestar =)=)=)

I like it, it's left field, people wouldn't expect a Volvo with so much get up & go, I'd have it over a S4, because I see S4 every where & this is totally different

50K pounds is expensive, but it ain't that bad. In the Netherlands it is 99.500 euros (80K pounds) thanks to the extra tax relating to emissions.

The BMW will be better no matter what. They built the car from the ground up, not making just a lot of additions.

mazdaman1980 Actually, this car is pretty much built from the ground up aswell. Volvo and Polestar have a joint collab on it, it's not like your regular tuner firm deal. Those 100 and something cars are built halfway, then sent straight to the Polestar plant where the CPU, interior, suspension and engine is fitted. The car isn't just a V60 with a few addons.

You probably can do it, take a T6 AWD Volvo S/V60 to Polestar and say u want the Öhlins dampers, the modified motor/transmission etc and they can make it happen.

Volvos have always sounded mean my old man used to have a 240gle when I was a kid and that sound exactly like a Audi rally cars 5 pot. Exactly the same

850's and 850R's sound like that too, mainly because they actually are 5 cylinders.

Nicolai Riasaka yeah? cool. I thought the 240GLE was a five pot but then i read they were straight 6 cylinders? Whatever, Volvo's sound meaner than most BMW's !!

sugarsaint Haha, yeah. Only the 850 series and the early V70's and S70's had 5 pots. Bought an 850 a month and a half ago, the sound is amazing, even though mine is the pretty simple 2.5L, 144 horse model.

Nicolai Riasaka You're far from the truth...most of the vehicles after 2000 also had 5 pots including the S60 (S60R), C30, C70 old and new, s40, v50...quite a few actually. My 2009 C30 R-design had a 2.5l turbo. You guys are right though, the T5 engine sounds amazing.

This beat the S4 easy on track or on twisty roads, in a straight line i don't know since the S4 is rated at 333hp but have more + dualcluch gearbox it's pretty fast. This against the RS4 would be nice, both fast, expensive and saloons :D

Brunlera Yeah, only seen it in a Swedish mag vs RS4 and M3 (E92). S60 was faster around a track then them. But that where a car with a stronger engine then this.

Yeah & just you wait until the new S90/V90 models inherit the Polestar Brand! Interesting to see what happens. Now that Volvo bought 100 % of this Swedish Tuning Company! ;)

FROOB202 Well Volvo´s 500 hp concept was a V6, so well see what the future brings to the mainstream market. As for now its going very well selling wise, so... :)

... but prices for the Polestar don't seem to be holding up well despite the exclusivity factor, and the latest Audi RS6 and RS4 seem to be holding their price far better than the equivalent Merc and BMW models to the tune of around 20k premium.

Daimlerkid, I agree that BMW have been a little lacklustre of late in reliability but Volvo are the hidden problem of all manufacturers. They have a very poor reliability and their prices are even more expensive than BMW. They have overlooked some key areas for reliability and it's well known amongst Volvo owners.

+mazdaman1980, we've had 3 Volvos- XC90 Ocean Race, XC90 R-design and C30. The XCs were sold and now we have only the C30. We had no problems with them. Absolutely no problems! The C30 is 7 years old and at 52000 km there wasn't a single problem.

BMWs have let themselves down in many ways lately. First of all they are introducing hundreds of new models for market segments that don't exist (e.g. The 5-series GT has been selling poorly. About a 1/8th of what they predicted. They should've learned a lesson, but no - they brought out the 3-series GT as well). Secondly, the quality in BMWs nowadays is poor value for money. There is so much fake plastic all around. And I am not kidding, some if the wirings in the engine bay are uncovered, some are taped together. In a Volvo, on the other hand, everything feels like it's worth that kind of money - the extremely comfortable seats (in a bummer it feels like you're sitting on a church bench), fantastic stereos even in basic trim, and real wood (and I mean real wood. Volvo and Audi are still putting them in. BMW are putting the cheap, plastic wood-imitating trim). Of course Volvo won't be as good to drive as a BMW (cos it's FWD) and bimmer has the heritage, but it is a lot of fun for a FWD car.

But an S4 would be SO drab since all Audis save for like 3 all look and drive the same. Why not be different, and have a delightful driving Volvo that comes in a wicked color and drop-dead gorgeous rims for (slightly) LESS money and will be quicker AND won't have as much understeer?!

True that, but a full spec Audi S5 wouldn't be that much more expensive as it starts at 33k approximately.
