Americans talk a good independence game but in reality we are all so terribly dependent on our systems.

I don't shop at home depot, hobby lobby or chick fila, due to their political issues. Actually, I have never even had chick fila! Aloha Bill

No chick fila here to worry over. I don't need to worry about Home Depot and politics, they are the worst building supply store in HI. I must say, they have the best selection of BBQ grills in Hilo.

I’ve been voting with my wallet for years now Bill. I used to keep a running list of the Monsanto’s & Koch Brothers of the world. Far as fast food goes, the world would be a better place without them. Perhaps this will usher in a new hybrid type of restaurant- fast food but better, at a price somewhere in between. As far as being a creative complainer, companies seem to just not give a damn anymore. Complain all you want, they just don’t care! 🤙🏽

Chances are 100% of Americans will have planted a garden before fast food goes healthy and reasonably priced.

Thank you for this topic. I am from Los Angeles but on property over in HPP and once we left Hilo, I stopped over at Foodland and went to the McDonald’s across the street and I spent almost 40 bucks for 4 double cheeseburgers and two of those special pies. They serve over there and french fries and it was almost 40 bucks. That’s when I realize this is crazy. I could afford this and I’m not poor. I thought that was crazy.😂😂 Yes, everything is expensive now!! Well that’s my story. What you guys are paying for on the big island for gas is kind of the same over here in Los Angeles. Thank you for this topic and maybe one day. I will meet you over at the farmers market.🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽

McDonald's is more of a national health issue than a restaurant. The wallet might cover the damage at the counter but even the doctor can't fix what happens when you eat that stuff. I only notice gas prices because we have a station here in town. 90% of my driving is with an EV charged by solar panels. I get to the farmers market on occasion when tourists want to see the place. Because we grow most of our food I don't get there very often. My suggestion to all is create independence from the systems and smile all the way to the bank. Americans sold their freedom to health insurance companies, employers and major global corporations. Most of us are in hand cuffs but since most of us wear them we call it style.

If you were wondering why I been so slow to get my butt over there, strategic game with cash. Balance between hustling to make money and living, for a change. We just put a roof on this house so we don't abandon it half finished for $200, of course we did the labor and found a deal. I don't drive much or buy any fast food. The hardware store takes most of my money. Every time I talk to the cashier and they talk about prices I think about habits. Consumers have stopped spending nearly as much lately from the tech industry standpoint.

I seldom wonder why others do what they do. I have a hard enough time imagining why I do things. Great time to put money on investments so it grows with inflation.

I agree. They raised prices too much and now a lot of us are stop buying. Everything has gone up 😡

Smile, keep your money in your wallet, let them sit on their over priced goods until they rot. Inflation always demonstrates how our system is motivated by greed.

I'm not looking forward to this whole A.I./Robotics thing. This is robot vacuum #3. The more sophisticated they get the worse they are. At least the $200 ones would go home and stay home when I sent them there. This one goes home but then 30 minutes later it gives me a one finger salute and heads off to eat socks.

California raised the price of minimum wage for fast food workers $20 an hour which is insane the Lost over 10,000 jobs because people cannot afford to pay them that therefore fast food companies have to raise their prices let people go or automate the liberals in California voted for this and backfired and they got what they deserved

California tends to lead the nation in thinking. The Bay Area is an intellectual hub and has a much higher level of education than the rest of the country. Now I'm not in a situation where I need to work at a fast food restaurant. I feel sorry for those that do. It is a terrible way to live. Giving them an extra paycheck was a good idea. If it drives the fast food out of California then we have killed two birds with a single stone. The restaurants complaining are the ones that have helped destroy our health and made America fat as whales. There is no love lost here. When Mc Donald's said they were leaving CA my attitude was good, glad to see your over price, over processed and terrible tasting food leave. I just wish they would leave HI too. Perhaps high cost will drive this poor excuse for food out of our society once and for all. Thumbs up to CA.

@@Simppatrol55 The conservative pundits predicted 10,000 lost jobs. If they were correct, every Mickey D in the state would be closed today. If your local Wendy's is still open today then the pundits are full of the stuff the hamburgers leave on the pastures. I say, it is criminal that the State had to be the one to give these people a pay raise. Fast food workers have zero political power. It is about time someone stood up for them. The food they produce is poison to our bodies anyway. We should all celebrate Mc Donald's leaving the golden state but that isn't going to happen. It's a franchise. They couldn't even if they wanted to. Lots of hot air being blown over the fact that some poor green card holder just got a raise for getting burned over the friers. IF every fast food place in the state closes by years end, then you and the political pundits you listen to, that invent these numbers, were right and I am wrong. Aloha
