And we’re back! Nicole is obsessed with a “ship” and really loves Archie. That will not hurt her at all. Zack’s favorite character is back! Sorta! Want to see more, let us know!
You're asking how Pike is so powerful near the end. Well, remember all the clips we've seen of her looking for help. In one of them, the high priest of her church tells her that she's meditating on a holy site that channels way more power than any one cleric can handle. She then doesn't quit and goes on to have her meeting with her god. Her body is still back there in that site channeling more than anyone should be able to. And her spirit is supercharged from getting the blessing of her god. So yeah, that's a good day for her. And it might have been the coolest thing you've ever seen, but wait until what you're about to see next episode! 🙂
also we've only ever seen a struggling pike before this episode. Now she believes in her power and embraces it. Also also, clerics will fuck up an undead horde like nobodies business.
Bear in mind, Pike is currently in a room "that is a conduit for more energy than any one person can channel". Plus, her magic is particularly effective against undead as well.
5:56 Kestrel is also Sam's daughter's name 10:25 that was incredible...s 😂 14:45 yup, Vessar. All the Vs with their names 16:04 Pike's score always gives me chills, it's so good 17:50 Sam has a gorgeous voice
@FandomFuse In the Campaign, Archie doesn't die. He's still alive. However, in the Campaign, Archibald Desnay is completely different because they changed him for the Animated Series. In the Campaign, Archie is an old man. He's the Alfred (as in from Batman) of the de Rolo household, not a young dwarf ruffian that is Percy's best friend. So Campaign Archie being old and not a combatant, was 100% a support and, thus, didn't die. Also, what you saw with Pike is what happens when a Cleric in Full Plate Heavy Armor attempts an Acrobatic Feat and Rolls a Natural 20. In the Campaign, Vox Machina were on a wall looking down at the oncoming horde of undead. Ashley was like, "Can I jump off the wall?" Mat was like, "Into the undead?" Ashley was like, "Yup." So he had her roll for it to see if she could land the jump. She rolled a Natural 20 which had Matt go, "Ok you jump 30 feet into the center of the undead, cast Destroy Undead, and vaporize everything within 60 feet of you." He didn't even bother with the Saving Throws for the undead. He was like, "Nat 20? Fuck it. They die. You win."
@@johnobrien7562 True That. I could be wrong, but I believe they hired the hobbit after they changed the character. If I recall the BTS video correctly, they said they wanted to change the character to give him more to do since they were also simultaneously changing Keeper Yennen to give them less to do and then once they redesigned the character, they were like, "Ok we need a voice that fits THAT."
I've watched many, many reactions to this series. Your energy and enthusiasm is very magnetic. Some of the best out there. I look forward to each drop. So hurry it up!
In the campaign they were surrounded by undead like in the cartoon Matt had Ashley roll a d20 for her turn undead and she rolled a nat 20, and said that she obliterated the whole hoard
Oh my gosh, the Love Actually song, man that’s exactly where my brain went too 😂 Great reaction! I can’t wait for the next one! Also you should have her listen to the hype song Sam wrote for Marisha’s boxing match (Pop! Pop! feat. Habib), it’s such a banger. Although, you might have to wait until you a little ways into M9…for reasons ;)
As someone who has fought with copies of medieval weapons since 1993; back to back fighting kills you. In combat you need to be able to move and dodge, as soon as you bump into someone behind you; you die. Oh, and you shall learn that Vedemeyer's fate was merciful compared to the names on the list.
pike of course being a cleric of light is extremely good against undead...but note in the campaign she also wielded a mace of Disruption...which is deadly to undead.
thhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh thest... oi :P XD I jest, sorta... but yes either way I love watching this with you guys again, such fun watching someone who's never seen these episodes :). And one or two suggestions: While you guys have way better audio than some reactors, look into a few things if you haven't: Audio Compressor to get quiet and loud to sort of ... mellow out if you will. It quiets down the peaks and raises the valleys so to speak (I think you're already on that already o.0?). And then there is standard Decibel levels and how to achieve similar audio levels between an unknown db level and a known one. I find myself lowering and raising volume between the show and you guys. While you guys, somewhat obviously to me, should be louder than the show, sometimes I can't even hear it... then you guys blast in. Now if that quietness is just due to copyright skirting so to speak, I understand and will move on. If you need some sources, there are good ones here on youtube, and also on skillshare if you're willing to pony up the dough for that service heh. Just ignore me if you already know this stuff. Just some friendly help if wanted/needed :). Love your guys setup so far outside that :D.
Wrong time right words. Yes but also right time cause it got Kiki out of her head in the my lack of self confidence for this fight PALES IN COMPARISON to the social awkwardness of facing THAT. And just went into the fight after that.
I do think it wasn't so much the worst time as the last chance he thought he'd ever get - Vax and Percy share a measure of respect right before the Pike ex Machina. and it did seem to make Kiki fight a little fiercer.
Agreed, the trailer is kind of a lot. Most of it is only spoilery if you squint, but I remember wishing I hadn't watched it. And the short teaser clip they released with it is literally just the first minute of the first episode, so if you're going to watch the show immediately anyway that makes the first episode lose some of its impact, imo. But the Scanlan recap is brilliant, definitely!
gah I know I'm the minority, but Vex has always been my favourite, so I have to hold my tongue so often with people disliking her! Like, most of the time, when it's just show watchers, I get it - she loses a lot of... supportive interactions? in this portrayal from what she has in the campaign. But at the same time, I love this portrayal of her as well, because she's the no-nonsense character of the group *and* she knows it. I love the no-nonsense characters, especially when they're women, but I know they can come-off as unpleasant very easily, and so I just have to sit back and suffer in silence in hope that backstory and future behaviours manage to soften others' feelings about her.
I watched all of your reactions up to this one in two days and I like your videos a lot! I love the dynamic between Percy and Archie. They are friends, but they are also a lord and his servant, and poor Archibald desperately tries to put Percy into a position of leadership and also protect him with his life, because Percy is the heir, he`s more important, he`s the one who should be saved.
3:08: What? You don't have a ceiling skull? Really brings the room together. 6:42: Quicker to list what's not on there, really. It seems to be a hard no to being bitten by zombies, at least. 18:11: Fun detail, we actually heard the tail end of this song in episode 5, at the campfire we hear Scanlain sing "...she was a holy holy gnoooooome!" which isn't in this version, but the same tune :) I just think it's neat they have it in-world as well as the credits here. "Just because it's a good story doesn't mean it doesn't hurt me!" Welcome to Critical Role! Here is your emotional support Trinket pillow, your "Oooh shit just got real!" viewing popcorn, your CR-branded paper bag (to breathe into when you laugh too hard and get dizzy), and here's your waterproof container to hold the pieces of your shattered heart temporarily, until the power of friendship and dorkiness fixes them, ready to be shattered again. (Don't worry, it's a Bag of Colding, so they'll keep a while.) I *think * that Pike still holds the CR record for the highest body count in one turn because of this fight (at least I think that's still the case). She rolled a nat 20 on her Destroy Undead spell and took down something like 30+ of them? It would have been real bad without her.
