I love the ECH. It's easily my favorite part of Voyager. Since people keep asking, this episode is: Season 6, Episode 4: Tinker Tenor Doctor Spy Here's a link to the episode information: bit.ly/npA6PI
@@rovhalt6650 For you to say "no one thinks that" and "your comment is pointless" is nothing more than a sign a little mind with an inferiority complex. You do (not) speak for everyone, you only waste everyone's time with your comment because you want to be noticed. Sad. Now go away troll
Robert Picardo can really chew the scenery given the chance. I love that he has been in at least one episode of every Stargate series as well as The Orville. Dude's got some serious sci-fi chops.
Not just those he’s also in Total Recall as the robot cab driver and even did some children’s sci-fi when he played a space cop undercover as a principle in the first live action Ben 10 movie. The man is a sci-fi staple at this point
He's rubbed shoulders with....The Enterprise E crew. Captain Sisko and the DS9 crew Voyager (obviously) General Hammond of the SGC General O'Neill General Landry Doctor Weir of Atlantis Colonel Carter of Atlantis Colonel Young & Telford of Destiny Captain Ed Mercer of The Orville Is there any actor whose actually had this much face time with so many A list crews and shows?
Even though this scene is a daydream, I thought their budding relationship was going somewhere and leading to something and then Seven took a hard right turn into Chakotay and ended up with him.... Like What?!
I like how Harry, later in the episode, says, "This is my favorite part." He's referring to the pips (button rank effect). Captain Janeway sort of smirks and says, "Nice touch." or something like that.
At the time of this episode I believe it is still not really but either near the end of this one or shortly after they add if, though I believe workforce is the only time it's used.
Tinker, Tenor, Doctor, Spy was one of my all-time favorite episodes of the entire series. You can tell the entire cast had a blast hamming it up and generally acting ridiculous. So much fun.
I'm pretty sure the photonic cannon, aside from being the anime "sure-kill move you bring out after the fight's over" cliche, is an homage to Mazinger's photonic beam. Making this the most anime scene in Star Trek.
while i am familiar with Ben Sisko's pimp hand and the Riker Maneuver, i cant say the same for Riker's joystick, whatever that is. somebody explain this to me please, oh and don't tell me its number one's #1because no one refers to it as a joystick. seriously no one.
@@buckwheatthe3rd If you know the riker maneuver, then you know riker's joystick. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-N4x1K97JZG0.html But riker calls it the "manual steering column".
+Izznogood76 Dev's don't like giving science ships "Oh Shit!" weapons, because as you know Gravity Well III is on par with Cannons: Rapid Fire III, and Beam Overload III >.>
I love how the episode completely changed to the Doctor having to play out his fantasy to fool a threat later. I watched this show for my level of escapism, and I got a good dose of meta reality in this one.
This makes me laugh every time! It's so cheesy, and it loves it. Like the life of Walter Mitty, the Doc's daydreams are funny and whimsical. But he does save the ship.
The best part of this episode is when he calls for the photonic cannon for real in front of everyone and Tuvok and Harry look at him like he has two heads LOL
Even better that they manage to adapt and play along. He basically pulls the same deal Kirk did in two episodes with the non-existent self-destruct device except he uses a non-existent weapon.
Just LOVED this episode of Voyager! The beginning of the ep literally had me laughing for like 20 minutes!! Very entertaining! And I just got a kick out of that Doc! Just a great character.
"I'm The Doctor. I'm a Hologram. I'm from the planet Earth, Founding Member of The Federation. I'm 903 Quadrillion Quadrillion Terabytes of Whoop Ass. And I'm the One who is going to save this Ship. Got a Problem with that?"
Favorite scene from this episode is actually in Engineering when the Doctor's daydreaming gets out of control. I love it because of the two lines the Computer says and how she says it. I'd like to believe the actress enjoyed saying them, too.
One of the most hilarious episodes of Voyager. When The Doctor's daydreams get out of hand, and they lock him behind a forcefield in sickbay and he's talking to himself, i'm literally rolling on the floor laughing.
Agreed. The show was actually getting better towards the end of the series. The show was really starting to pick up as soon as Jeri Ryan joined the cast, and Jennifer Lien "got the boot."....Probably due to the fact that Jennifer's acting was "absolutely horrible."
Robert Picardo was quite literally perfect for this role. I can't even imagine anyone else pulling this off as well and with such perfect timing. I miss Voyager.
I loved Voyager, but the concept of it didn't quite reach the potential it had. It could easily have outshined ds9 and next generation had they done a few things differently. With a little more maquis and a little less kazon seasons 1 and 2 could have been better. The vidians should have been included in more episodes including a visit to their home world. By the end of the run they had watered down the Borg too much. Not that I was disappointed in them, but the Borg were scarier for the most part in next gen. And there were a few aliens they could have used more, like the krenin. Seven of nine was a brilliant addition to the crew though.
Excellent "daydreaming sequence" scene of the Voyager's iconic "EMH"... Robert Picardo did such an amazing job bringing this likeable & lovable character to life...one of the best in Star Trek history. Absolutely well-acted.
I always knew that he would have been an excellent commander. Perhaps this was the reason why he was chosen to lead Atlantis over the most difficult times?
If they used the same process of drawing on Starfleet's finest command-officers just like Zimmerman drew on the best doctors to create the EMH (including McCoy, as was mentioned regarding a particular surgical technique he used).
I think show would have been even better if they just left him in charge. Immune to disease, psychic attacks, radiation. Under possible hacking then the E.C.H. could be relieved but this show would have been funny as hell.
The ECH was brilliantly played by Bob Picardo. In reality, had Voyager had such a program up and running efficiently there are numerous occasions where the ECH would have made better decisions than Captain Janeway. For a start he was not susceptible to stress emotions, extreme fatigue etc that the human crew were nor to telepathic influences or conventional pathogens such as bacteria and viruses. Surely he should have been used as a routine back up to KJ allowing her some proper "off duty" days?
i love voyagers recurring villain progression. it goes from the kaizon to the garbage men to the hunters to the borg. the borg are also recurring throughout though after the kaizon.
It was that one episode that involved the "baryon(?) sweep" when the Enterprise was docked at a maintenance station, and Picard had to subdue his attacker when he was the only Starfleet member onboard the ship. The attacker also happened to be portrayed by Tim Russ (the same actor who later portrayed Tuvok in ST:Voy).
This show was made as a parody, but it could have been no joke the greatest thing ever as happen to Voyager as a sequel! Star Trek: Tales of the Emergency Command Hologram
Dominion would have gotten stomped just like to federation. Aside from their electro disruptor weapon, their technology was basically on par with the alpha quadrant species'.
Love the reaction of 7/9 at 1:00 "You are the alpha male" look, reminds me of the look that Kira gave to Gul Dukat after he commanded the alien ship to power down their shields on DS9
From my childhood, my favorite episode from the sparse ones that I watched was 'Blink of an Eye' However, when I went back and watched all the seasons (not finished yet) I decided this was my new favorite. I LOVE when the 4 rank dots appear after he says 'activate the ECH' 0:54 It is so hilarious!!
"Blink of an Eye" was ripped off from "The Wild, Wild West" B&W episode where a frontier chemist invents a drug that could speed him up so he could commit crimes; ironically it was more realistic than the Trek episode, since he had to be careful not to move too fast in order avoid catching fire from air-friction..... and of course that's how James West kills him, by dousing him with alcohol and letting it ignite.
How would the 'slower' air particles around the person cause an increase in kinetic energy in the person. Even if this was imagined in newtonian physics, shouldn't he freeze rather than burn?
Simon Purist plus its tv, theyl do what they want, im still trying to figure out why when scottie beamed that us air force piolot back into his jet as they were going back into their own time, made him forget where he was, at least in this episode the explanation makes some form of sense
