Defo 1.0 winning here. I saw them live recently and they were amazing. Was interesting that they did Mutya/Amelle's part as a group in 1.0's version so essentially no solo Mutya - assuming she's still not crazy on this song but performed it anyway!

I loved Red Dress with Mutya and Amelle (preferred the Mutya version but loved the Amelle version nevertheless). I was very young when this song came out - but bloody hell, since 1.0 reformed and performed this when I seen them on tour WOW - this should be re-recorded like the other songs with them singing them. Round Round next please!!

You already know what imma say before I say it BUT I would say, I'm kinda surprised you didn't really critique Mutya's replacement and the live vocals here, they were not good at all BUT anyway you know I have mad love for you mate and your channel so imma leave it there before you tell me off 🤣. Mutya and Keisha didn't wanna do this song (they both hate it) but it was Siobhan who wanted it added. They made a lot of changes, see how Mutya did not do any of her original bits (you kept saying Amelle's bits, it was Mutya's song 1st but anyways.....) they switched it up, put more harmonies in there, Siobhan changed Heidi's bit to fit her own style which she keeps doing and continues to shine bright, see no dying billy goat vocals, just slick perfection from her and the rountine worked. Clearly 1.0 wins this, if ever that was in doubt? Naaaahhhhh. Much love to you mate 💙.

I know Mutya has never cared much for the song but I didn't know Keisha didn't like it? Otherwise why would they have released it as a single? Maybe over time the song has some negative memories attached with it?

@@aussieapril Mutya didn't even want to sing on it she disliked it that much. There is an IG video chat with Keisha and Mutya where they were asking one another what was their least favourite song, Keisha said Red Dress was her least favourite and they spoke a bit about why. It was not meant to be a single had Mutya stayed, it was meant to be Push the Button, Follow Me Home, Ugly, Gotta Be You (Ace Reject was also for consideration) they switched Ugly and Follow Me Home around but then Mutya left and the label went with Red Dress as they felt it was a better song choice they needed a big commercial song so Follow Me Home got pushed back again snd Gotta Be You was cancelled altogether. The video treatment for Follow Me Home was done way before Mutya left and given when it was meant to be released with her, the video treatment was not changed (which was stupid) hence the wintery Christmas theme video. They had no say over what singles got released, songs they didn't particularly like got released (in the middle) by the time they did the Taller album they also had little say over what versions of songs went on the finished album and even what songs altogether, that was eroded more and more over time. I think Keisha was only talking about the song she hated the most with Mutya in the line up because other times she has said its Get Sexy and all of Sweet 7, can't blame her really there, beyond awful album even with her originally on it.

Not the dancehall intro!!! I was like hol onnnnnn Werdna gwannin like he's up in the dance!!! As a Jamaican-Grenadian I was living soon as it came on lol. So in terms of this VS, I agree with you on both counts: I enjoyed 3.0 (who honestly surprised me because I usually temper my expectations of their live performances) but the OGs??? They just take me out every time with even just a little smidge of harmony. They're just *it* and this is coming from someone who got into Sugababes via 2.0. I feel you on not being able to let go of "Red Dress," I can listen to that damn song all day.

Fact is Amelle is the one can’t really sing in the group to what the group standards are. Recognise that she was the replacement for the incredible Mutya. So hello? Who can follow that except Keisha and Siobhan. By the time Red Dress came out Amelle had enough practice to get it right. Let’s just say that I was at the first showcase of Amelle’s performance and it wasn’t good. We spoke after and she said she was nervous which was understandable.
