Hey everybody, Igor here from cars exposed thanks for tuning in, i will be uploading videos here every week sharing my experiences working around cars on my driveway exposing issues, repairs, projects and more... stay tuned !!!
This time we have a 2005 VW golf mk5 that failed a mot test, reason was rear brake pads wearing thin and rear fog light not working, in this video we change the rear brake pads. i hope this video helps... check out the rear fog light video aswell cheers👍

Brilliant, thank you, only one I've seen with the brake pads with the spring on the top, same as my 2010 EOS. Was a great help

Any way of budging a piston that doesn’t wanna move. Mine had the same wear on the old pads but piston won’t turn in

I have a universal tool but the kit you mention has a left and right threaded tool. Question is: Do you need Left and Right for the golf? or is the universal one ok? cheers.

Mine is right hand, so you turn the piston clockwise as you rewind it in.

cheers cars exposed - bit of a shitty old job to do with the brake pad dust - good clear video - good tips -done them before and were slightly different pad clips - just used water pump grips to push pistons back - thank you

You’re supposed to change both sides at the same time, even if only one side is worn

@@LEEMUNDO999 It's a twenty year old car! You do what you need to get it through the MOT test. No point doing both sides and then finding out the emissions failure is serious.

gareth Jones I would recommend getting the calliper wind back tool mate, you need to turn and press at the same time almost impossible without it ...

Hey man good video! I just changed my rear pads on my mk5 1.9tdi golf as per your video, now I have slight squeaking when gently braking at low speeds? My Brembo pads o bought came with anti rattle metal clips, but could not for the life of me work out how they fit in so that the pads could move freely? Do they have to be used? Thanks

The slight squeak could be because you didn’t use the metal clips if you had previously so the pads are a little bit loose now , generally clean the carrier really well where the clips seats , using a file if necessary if you have a lot of rust bubbling up then fit the clip , the pads should move free after that 👍
