Hello Dave Finally I got the answer to my question after watching 👀 your channel I want to thank you for this clip on the steering wheel swap 😀 you saved me a massive headache
Yes I thought to myself ( I was so close to buying that same module) so I wanted to know if you finished that swap your happy day comment was priceless, my happy day will be June 2 when the clock spring arrives 😀
A note for anyone wanting to do this, The correct tool for removing the steering wheel bolt isn't a T55 Torx bit it's an M12 triple square bit. Don't ask how I found out!!
Hi Dave, thank you very much for making this video it was very informative i have a 2011 Golf 6 Variant AJ5 which was manufactured in decmeber 2011 and according to obd11 information on steering wheel module i can say that i have same like yours with cruse control and without mfsw , can you say me what was part number of MFSW and airbag which you have used in your car ? and did you use a new clockspring or an used one because i have been reading alot of stories about not perfect clockspring position can lead more problems and my other question is that mfsw buttons will work with mib2 pq radio because i had retrofited the radio in my car and i appreciate your work
Hi dave i have a volkswagen tiguan se 2012, i currently have an gti mk7 steering wheel fitted but the buttons on the steering wheel don't work, neither the paddles, previously my steering wheel didn't have any buttons, can you help me find the parts that i need to install in order to make it work??? Thanks
Hi Dave, thanks for the video. Was very helpful as I also bought the module not knowing that it wouldn’t be Compatible with my 2011 mk6 tsi 1.2L. I’m a bit unsure on whether I would need to buy the whole part including the stalks etc, or whether I can just buy the squib ring itself. Would be really helpful if you could let me know.
I would purchase the stalks also. If you don't change the stalks the right hand buttons on wheel won't work, you will have to continue using the buttons on stalk
@@whatsdavedone104cheers Dave. Having trouble trying to find what would be compatible with my manual 1.2 tsi. I’m seeing parts ending in A,B, C, D and E. Do you have an idea of what would work on my car?
You will need to check the part number behind the steering wheel, if it starts 1k0 then the module needs changed under the steering wheel. If it starts 5k0 then you need to change the squib ring
Yes, I did retro fit cruise control about 8 months after charging the wheel ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sAN4aig7jdc.htmlsi=9sSde40zDzLRsuoB
Hi Dave I've just bought a caddy on a 63 plate. No mfsw. I have cruise and the left stalk lets me sync a phone. I have no way of seeing mpg and the likes. What do you suggest? Thanks in advance.
@@whatsdavedone104 sorry. The right stalk, wiper stalk has a rocker but it only allows me to view phone settings etc. Gutted really just paid £13k for the van and I've no idea what mpg etc. 🤣
The rocker switch on wiper stalk, press and hold the down button for 2 seconds and it should open a screen with MFI at the top. Scroll up using rocker then press ok button on bottom of stalk 👍
Have you had, engine problems. With when turning left and accelerating, the car turns off, and on again very Quick! I have Open circuit on ignition lock, and databus missing massage…
That's a new one on me cutting out when turning....if you have open circuit on your ignition lock then I would suggest replacing the ignition barrel. It wasn't uncommon for cars running carburetors, my old mk3 use to do it, but that was down to fuel pump.
You will need to check the part number but 90% sure early 2010 needs 1k0953549CH, its under the steering wheel....see this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AF240M-pco4.html
Hi,please help.I also intend to upgrade my steering wheel just like you. I have Golf 6 Plus manufactured 2013 and I also have factory installed 5K0953549c module. Can someone please confirm me if 5K0953549B steering clock spring match for vehicles with a steering wheel on the left side?(I can see that your steering wheel is on the right side).
Passat and golf share the same modules so I can't see there being an issue. Just check the module on the golf and passat both start 1k0 or 5k0....Pull steering wheel forward and lift the top cover of column to check the numbers
@@whatsdavedone104 so you think that even though the b6 Passat wheel is from an older car, it will still swap over properly with the correct module swapped in addition?
It starts with a 5 there’s two different part numbers one on the slip ring part which is 5k0 953 549 c think that’s the main one as it’s same as yours just ends in C but there’s another on the stalks part
