VW GTI Upgraded Turbo Install & First Reactions 

Bring your GTI out to Wild Horse Pass on Nov 13 for the Drift N Drags. I’ll be making passes on the drag strip with my 2017 Golf R. Would be great to see what your car does on the track!

Just signed the papers for my GTI today 😁 can’t wait to start my journey with building it how I like it!

I’ve installed 3 turbos on my 2017 MK7 GTI, all on jack stands. Two IS38’s and one EQT. If I had to do the job again I could do it start to finish in 4-5hrs. It’s honestly not that bad of a job.

This is a guy you gotta respect, I already knew he was going to get big when I found him at 50k subs and now over 200k subs and living in Arizona. I swear whole other meaning to “If you can believe you can achieve.”

For the key tags you should do all the colors vw makes the gti comes from factory so the key tags can match the car

Pretty sure there’s a TSB for the mk7 and rain-x wiper fluid - it will corrode the wires in the system

This sounds really good...what exhaust set up do you have? I got a CTS catback for my 18 gti but it doesn't sound as loud

I would try to make the jet tags that blue wrap you had on the st with white lettering. And yes we all need a Randel

You should do a nice purple or a dark green for the jet tags

Why did you not need to "Break in" the turbo before giving it the beans? I didn't hear if it was in the video.

So, if you're applying "anti-sieze" to items exposed to more extreme heat - you should be using copper NOT silver 👍 The other thing you're dealing with aside from the connections & leak points is - the correct voltage set on the WG.

Any issues with emissions or check engine lights after all this work?

Zerex G40 is same color coolant. Noone of manufacturers make coolant or oil. They just relabel the original coolant container.

why would you not get a catch for the coolant

make three different plaid gti tags with the border and the color of the "gti" in the middle of the tag the same color. border and gti can be grey, white, and red respectively to match the gti plaid colors.

Do people buy these IS38's second hand? I'm thinking of getting the Vortex for my S3 and it'd be nice if I could sell my IS38 to cover some of the price.

I'm gonna do this soon to my ie stage 2 gti but I got s trim brakes and it already feels sketchy braking sometimes

Brake caliper and disc upgrade would be a next port of call before sending it at the canyon.

Turbo Muffler delete is life, deffo recommended for any VW application.

I just bought a 2010 Audi A4 Quattro with 51k miles and it has the annoying turbo waste gate rattle, this is my first turbocharged car so I don’t know if that’s really bad or not but I’m thinking about changing the turbo in the near future maybe at the beginning of next summer, but this kit costs $3800 CAD which is really expensive but considering it would only take me to 335hp and 300tq with the stage 2 tune that comes with, I’m not sure if it’s worth it

Theres no other supporting mods for these? Earlier model 2.0s u have to upgrade the HPFP, the injectors, and a tune to see a real difference in performance

yo having clean hardware is fucking awesome lol i moved to fresno, ca from toledo, Ohio and doing anything under the car is like a fucking dream now lol

The other benefit of GTi platform is that you retain great gas mileage with bolt ons and obviously not when you step on it, and unfortunately you can’t do that with the mazdaspeed or the ST don’t get me wrong I love all those hatchbacks but when you can get more power and keep great mpg it’s the biggest plus of the GTi’s worth the money to maintain it

After watching this installation process , im glad that i have a Mazdaspeed , which is a Japanese brand. it looks like all the german cars are so difficult and time consuming to deal with. Dont get me wrong , i love gti and other german cars , it is just the fact that working on it is extremely diificult to own. I Love the details you are bringing to the car community . Keep it up , well played. :D

Boy this gti stuff has got me soo psyched to buy either the '08 gti i found or one of the mazdaspeed 3's-- maybe even the legacy GT although i am still on the fence about if they can be a reliable vehicle or not.. **Anyone thats owned these cars have any thoughts on any or all of them!?!?

Had a 2018 gti I purchased back in may after watching your channel for some time. immediately went stage 2 ecu and DSG unitronic 93 tune. Definitely was a quick little car, loved driving it. When I started looking into more power, the gains for stage 3 vs the price tag was just pretty disappointing, as well as the front wheel drive was always a turn off for me Traded it in for a 2019 BMW M240 X drive, which you really can’t compare at twice the price tag of a GTI. But this m240 is a different type of monster.
