So today we tackle the VW T4 clutch slave cylinder replacement, In the video we show you how to remove and refit a #clutch Slave cylinder on our #vw t4 #campervan it's a fiddly job. Follow us on Instagram at / valhalla_vw
Before u change the clutch maybe make sure it's definitely bled properly. The book says not to use pedal push method doesn't work, has to be a pressurised method. One video also put fluid in via slave cylinder bleed nipple because air always gets trapped there because air wants to up. It worked well and air bubbles easily come out of the top reservoir. I'll try find a link for you. Edit here ya go ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wdf--suwqw0.html
@@valhallavw awesome man. I've gotta fit either master or slave or both to my brother's T4 this week also. I'm going to use a syringe style pump in fluid at the slave nipple, I'll let u know how it went. Good luck with yours, keep us posted too.
Aw man, as soon as I saw the slave I thought it was suspiciously dry 😣 at least the new parts might last you a few hundred thousand miles more. Daft question but is it that you’ve got no clutch pedal resistance or just no drive to the wheels?
I'm not gonna lie I was hoping to see fluid on the piston lol. And yeah definitely, get the clutch in next and I was going to change the ancillaries anyway so nothing lost. 🤟🤟🤟
Hi mate. There were literally no warning signs, I drove van all day, parked up at night, and next morning no gears, replaced master and slave cylinders, then had to do clutch as well. 🤙🤙🤙
Hi there , please what model is your t4, I am trying to do my clutch pedal these days , I have a 2.5tdi, the pedal had v little pressure, last time I drove I couldn’t engage the reverse and I struggled to engage the other gears , managed to get home from the airport, I opened one of the nipples , the line that goes into the the master I believe and the pedal went totally further down. I am gonna replace both cylinders , I’d like to hear your thoughts. Thank you
Hi there. My t4 is the 1.9tdi it's had an engine swap. Sounds to me like you are experiencing the same issues I had, mine was fine and the the next morning I had no gears at all. I replaced master and slave cylinder as they were both original and due a change, unfortunately though this didn't solve my problem and I ended up having to replace the clutch. The T4 is a nightmare to bleed I'd recommend getting a power bleeding kit otherwise you'll be chasing air bubbles for days lol. Have you checked your fluid level, I would definitely start there and then it's a process of elimination my friend 🤟🤟
@@valhallavw hello mate, thanks for the reply , liquid level was very low it took almost a whole small bottle of dot4 liquid , I tried to look for brakes lines leaks but I found none , the fact that the brakes work well though I think it should exclude a problem in the brakes lines, I think I'll follow your same process , cylinders are old anyway , I just ordered a gunson eezibleed kit , will it be strong enough to bleed it ? May i ask how much did they quote for the clutch or you did it yourself, i can do the cylinders but I doubt I can tackle the clutch . Your videos are very useful by the way , I appreciate very much you taking the trouble to make these and post them . 👍
@@caputomaru hello mate. So pleased to hear you are enjoying the videos and finding them useful. I would say it's unlikely to be a brake issue if you can't find any leaks and they work properly, the power bleed is definitely a good investment, will save you loads of time and headaches lol. I was quoted between £300 and 750 for the clutch. So I did it myself. Parts were only £135. If you have access to hardstanding and a decent toolkit it's definitely achievable mate 🤟🤟
