The symptoms is pretty much the same as in the master cylinder…when one breaks down…is it best to replace both at the same time?

It depends,my master cyclinder already replaced, after a few months of using my car, all these symptoms occurs again, i tried to adjust my clutch but after a month or so, the problems is still there, now my clutch has no pressure at all, i guess my slave cylinder needs to be replace as well.

Gears shift fine when driving but when i put into reverse, it seems to have a hard time disengaging like it’s stuck. And when trying to reverse it feels as if truck is going to stall out. It is a 2003 tacoma 2wd. Is master clutch cylinder and clutch slave replacement a good solution?

Thank you. It sounds like the issue with your 2013 Jeep Wrangler JK manual might be related to the hydraulic clutch system, particularly given the symptoms of having no resistance in the clutch pedal and difficulty shifting gears. The golden oil-like fluid leaking from under the transmission bell housing suggests a possible hydraulic fluid leak. The three potential sources of the issue you mentioned are indeed common culprits: 1. Master Cylinder: If the master cylinder is failing, it can't maintain the necessary hydraulic pressure to disengage the clutch, which would make the pedal feel like it's just "pushing air." 2. Slave Cylinder: Similarly, a failing slave cylinder can cause a loss of pressure in the clutch system, leading to ineffective clutch disengagement and the same pedal issue. 3. Rear Main Seal: While a leak from the rear main seal generally involves engine oil, not hydraulic fluid, it's still worth considering if the fluid appears oil-like and the location matches. Given the leak and your symptoms, it's likely either the master or slave cylinder. It's advisable to have both inspected (and possibly replaced) if one is found to be leaking, as they often wear out at similar rates.

So which one is it Master or Slave? This video is the same from the master cylinder one

To determine whether the slave cylinder or master cylinder is faulty, you can look for the following symptoms: Symptoms of a faulty slave cylinder: 1. Clutch pedal feels spongy or soft 2. Difficulty shifting gears 3. Clutch pedal stays on the floor when pressed 4. Leaking fluid near the slave cylinder 5. Burning smell from the clutch area Symptoms of a faulty master cylinder: 1. Clutch pedal feels hard or stiff 2. Clutch pedal slowly sinks to the floor when pressed 3. Fluid leaks near the master cylinder or reservoir 4. Inability to shift gears 5. Grinding noise when shifting gears To further diagnose the issue: 1. Check the fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir. If it's low, there may be a leak in the system, likely from the slave cylinder. 2. Inspect the master and slave cylinders for visible leaks. Fluid leaks are a clear sign of a problem. 3. Pump the clutch pedal and observe how it feels. If it's spongy or sinks to the floor, the issue is more likely related to the master cylinder. 4. If possible, have someone press the clutch pedal while you observe the slave cylinder. If the slave cylinder doesn't move or moves slowly, it may be faulty. In some cases, both the master and slave cylinders may need to be replaced together, as a failing slave cylinder can damage the master cylinder and vice versa. If you're unsure, it's best to have a professional mechanic diagnose the issue.

@@HonestMechanicChannel Thank you for the reply! Sorry if I sounded mad but later found out it was my Master Cylinder, due to the fact the slave cylinder was still intact and not leaking!

My clutch wont go down at all

Hi. If your clutch won't go down at all, it could be due to a seized clutch pedal, a broken clutch cable (for cable-operated clutches), or a failure in the hydraulic system (like a leak or air in the line for hydraulic clutches). It's important to check these components or have a professional mechanic diagnose and fix the issue.
