The piping on VWs is so shite, I know, I own one. Over time the two teeth on the boost pipes which are Aluminium get worn as the clips are steel and the teeth just wear over time, if left long enough they blow off. Also due to incorrect air to fuel mix due to lack of boost pressure they basically are running rich and can clog up your VNT turbo. I have no idea why VW don't just use a flange to pipe and jubilee clip like everyone else (as it just works). In the diesel VAG mod scene most people do away them and use a conversation kit to use normal boost pipes and jubilee clips. Darkside Developments have one a lot of people buy.
