Wacom Cintiq Pro 17: A 4K Display in a Smaller Package! 

Its ludicrously expensive, so wont/cant consider it. And it doesn't even come with a stand so it doesn't matter how much this guy loves it. It's ridiculous. Maybe this is only for the studio market which isn't going to be that big anyway, I guess I can look at the lower end line. These prices are just stupid, sounds like somebody in wacom finance needs to go back to school.

I think the price is insane too. I can not believe 17 cost $2499.95. If you say the price is $1200 I will think it is too expensive but I will consider it, but now it is two times expensive than that. Really?!

@@P26984152 for that price you can get a well kitted out M2 MacBook pro and do a hell of a lot more than just draw on the screen. Not to say it doesn't have good specs, but the price is just comparatively dead in the water. Especially since it doesn't even have a stand. That's just crazy.

Had a try yesterday at wacom event organized in my city. Cool but too much expensive. Honestly I cannot understand why wacom set their prices as there were no competitors on the market. I use a huion 24 plus 800 euro pen display and it works fine for me. Is the cintiq pro a better device? Yes maybe but look at the price...are you kidding me? 😂

I saw a piece of the live of Brad Colbow. That little thing has the fans running, so forget silence. Which is funny because the Cintiq pro of one inch less (at half of the price...) at same resolution doesn't have that problem. And I bet you can't see no differences in screen quality. Such a joke... That pricetag is just way too insane and unjustified. The Trojan horse of the company to make the "pro-line" prices so irrational is because their cheap conceived entry level products became way too overprized and people bought them...

Thoughts, 2 months later? I was considering a 27 but heard people say it’s a bit too big and starting thinking about the 24 instead

TOTALLY agree and I’m a commercial artist. Wacom have lost the plot. There is NO way I’m paying that sort of cash for a tablet like that. The stand also looks like it’s just come out of the 1970’s. 😂🤣

@@jameswilkinson150they have always been expensive though. Even back in the 12x and 13HD days. This is nothing new honestly. As someone who uses Wacom. It’s expensive but other brands just don’t compare especially if you are looking to upgrade from a smaller Wacom. Despite being so expensive it’s industry standard for a reason 🤷

its more than a joke. Even for us professionals that can get tax writeoff and no VAT (if you're european), it is far too expensive for a 17 inch.

Talk to them about it, it is entirely up to the artist and their work flow, Some prefer the bigger 20+inch screens (such as myself) others prefer on the smaller end.

First of all, it's a great gift. Then it depends on where your friend is on their professional artistic journey. The further along, the better they know what exactly they need in their workflow. My guess would be that if they're at the beginning of their journey it's bonkers good and a big boost to their productivity. So maybe stealthily ask them the right questions and see where they're are and want to be at. I myself prefer an iPad for most of my work for example and a good friend of mine (and pretty well known artist - to show you that success and fame have nothing to do with it) still uses Intros 3 tablets (and owns like 20 spare ones). Bottom line is: A great gift, now you have to make sure it's the right one. =)

No. Pro 17 only covers 88% Adobe RGB. Pro 27 99% Adobe RGB.

Apps are annoying to work in compared to a desktop interface.

@@autofocus4556agreed. I like Apple but its operating system will never compare to windows in relation to computers. Especially if you want to use anything other than procreate. (Not a coincidence that all Apple artists users are effectively locked to this program because the apps of others that are just mobile versions of PC programs are trash)

I don't think the pro is meant to be portable in any way. Id go for a samsung tablet and wacom one pen.

Personally disagree. Not that great for those who want to use windows programs. If you are talking solely in relation to procreate then yeah, sure.

Personally, Huion was just OK imo. It did what it was supposed to do but upgrading from that to Wacom it was like night and day. It’s been a few years though so maybe they got better in relation to pen, cable and driver quality. Honestly if need be just get a cheap tablet, and save money from your work to buy a more expensive one.

@@ca678.4 I can't speak for older versions but newer Huion and XP Pen tablets have closed the quality and feature gap quite a bit and are significantly cheaper making them much more attractive for the average artist who cannot shell out $2-3k. Wacom while still the best in quality, continues to charge way too much more for very similar features. They're going to make themselves the market niche rather than the market leader with pricing like this. Not to mention Apple and Microsoft have also clawed away some of the market with their iPad/Surface as an alternative to mainstream graphics tablets.

⁠@@lukecsuarezartistry8568It does, just not an adjustable one. This kind of product are expensive because very little people are an artist, so they are unable to take advantage of economy of scale. Sure you can get cheaper alternatives, but cheaper alternatives like Huion and Xp-pen don’t get the same accuracy as a Wacom, they don’t have 120hz refresh rate, some of them don’t have factory calibration at all, and they also don’t come with touch. For someone who already have a 13inch Huion Kamvas Pro and owns an iPad Pro before, I want one. Sure it’s expensive, but there is simply nothing else like it on the market.

Could you name the better options please? Genuinely curious yes Wacom is overpriced however the alternatives right now still don’t compare. Especially if you already have one of the bigger Wacom tablets/more modern Wacom tablets. The other alternatives are great for those who are looking to get their first new display, imo.

@@ca678.4I mean if you’re only worried about drawing in a digital medium, there are way more inexpensive alternatives. If you’re doing studio work where color has to be optimal, then sure the Wacom takes the advantage. However on a larger scale, I think there are more starving artists looking for something like this from Wacom, but not at studio prices. Wacom has a line for those, but the value is better in terms of price from huion. I think they’re catching up and soon these ridiculous prices will be more competitive.
