I will never understand why this guy does not have a million subscribers. It is the most exciting and relaxing fishing show ever. I just love river fishing and he does it so very well and the constant sound of that water running can just put me to sleep.
The next video I’m going to work on editing was at this same stretch of river, doing pretty much the same thing wade fishing my way upstream but it’s going to be a long video I caught a ton of fish that day!
I missed you “Bob Ross of fishing”! I got lost down a “fishing black hole” of YT! I really, really missed you! Gone for a couple days maybe a week. I still miss your soothing conversation/teaching! Thank you so very much for just being You!
It shouldn’t be much longer now! The weather hasn’t been great this month, lots of wind snow and rain. The rivers are all flooded right now so I’m waiting for a warm calm day to hit a couple pike lakes.

Dude what a great video ..have you ever thought about becoming a fishing guide???? that fish was on 2 inches of water man crazy!!!!!
Thanks! I've though about guiding but if I start bringing people who live around here to my favorite spots they'd probably become regulars there. A big part of the reason I have so much success is because these spots don't get much pressure.
Many, many summers ago, in a 6 week period in Northern Wisconsin I was able to perfect this same pin-point casting accuracy w/my Mitchell 300 & St. Croix rod. On the day I arrived @ camp, I found an Arbogast Frog-Jitterbug sunk in the shore mud. I dug it out & it was my go-to lure the whole 6 weeks! Under an osprey nest I was lucky enough to tie into a few nice largemouth, but only 2 years ago did I ever catch my 1st smallie....I'll be 76 in Feb.
Who would dislike this video? All the perfect people who’s expectations are unattainable I guess? Love the pureness of nature and fishing from a kayak you capture 😃
Great Video! I used to fish simi pro tournaments but now all I do is dishing rivers and creeks here in Arkansas for smallies. I had forgotten how much fun fishing was. It’s not work any longer, it really fun
Your still my favorite RU-vid fishermen . Always love watching you videos, so relaxing to watch. Keep rippin them lips brother. Keep the videos coming.
Your video's are SO on point, Thanks for taking me along! I've become obsessed with river Smallies after breaking my PB last year, and again this year, still seeking to land a 20". They have been my favorite fish since I was a kid though, they're just so wild. I've learned some new techniques as well watching your vids, your clear heat shrink trick on the Senko is the bomb. Can you share why you use a worm hook and not a wacky style hook? Thanks again for putting out the best fishing vids out there!
Thanks man! Chasing river smallies is my favorite way to spend a day! I seem to get a better hook up ratio with those EWG hooks. The Gamakatsu hooks I use are made with some pretty thin gauge wire and don't have too big of a barb so they're great for getting a good hook set with the 10lb mono I have on most of my reels.
that spot is pristine..your a lucky man. watchin you pluck those smallies from that creek was great next time i see a guy fishin a creek here i will not question it..
Awesome fishing spot with beautiful scenery. Fairly jealous of the spots you have up there! Keep the videos coming I enjoy living vicariously in your scenery.
Sure love them little river u fishin !!!!! Got it all to yourself !!!!!!! Can't get any better then that. Great work !! Tight lines amd keep them comin !!!
Great video! If it was me, I would get snagged on the first cast! How do you avoid getting the jig snagged on all those rocks? Or do you just edit that out?
You know what I appreciate most about your videos is your bob Ross like voice. Not to mention, when you are silent and point your go pro to what nature is doing on that day I shows the appreciation for god has done on that. Other mortals can learn a lot from you.
So much knowledge, plus the calmness and nature all around, no garbage, no crowded spots and no noisy people messing around, men, what a lucky angler you are.
Awesome reminds me of a Big Creek I used to Fish when I was a Teenager here in WVA Had Smallies like that in every Hole you came to . It is a Wildlife Management Area now only accessible on Foot or Kayak and I hear the Hybird Bass they stocked years ago took over and there hardly ANY Smallies there now . Thanks for bringing back some very Fond Memories for me from my Youth . Keep on Fishin Dude Love your Videos
This damn River is Small Mouth Heaven. The numbers of nice size fish is Paradise found. Wish I had a river in Georgia, (USA), that provided such Fishing Action. I want such fishing fun.
Great video. I really enjoyed it. I’m in Indiana and we share the same name, as well as a love of smallmouth bass fishing. I can’t wait for your next video. I just subscribed to your channel so I won’t miss it.
Phenomenal man!!! I love how chill you narrated the whole vid and every video u upload! Great advice also “as you go”. U are brave man, straight up fearless when it comes to casting in rocks, bushes, trees, banks and even shallows... i would never have tried!!! Lol u opened my eyes man, i see and learned there are a lot more places i need to be lookin into and casting towards! U earned another subscriber brother! Respect ✊🏼💯
Me: there's absolutely no way he pulls a fish out of an inch of water like that. Sure enough there's a 2lb smallie hidning right underneath some grass lol
I knew there would be one hiding under that grass! Last year when the water was about 6" higher there were a bunch of them hanging out in that creek. They must like the cool water flowing through there, it's probably 10 degrees cooler than the river water.
The bites underneath the grassy bank and the one in the pile of dead wood are 2 of the most awesome bites I've ever seen. Your channel is underrated :P
Easily one of your best videos. You my friend are the "Smallie Whisperer" .. I can't believe I just watched this video now.. must have missed this one.
Thanks Randy! I'm from Fargo too, this spot is a quick drive into Minnesota lakes country. The MGX reels are great, I've been running a few of them for the last couple seasons and haven't had to do much maintenance to them to keep them working like new. The only thing I'd recommend keeping an eye on is the allen screw that holds the body of the reel to the stem, I've had them loosen up a couple times.
Epic day as always, Matt! I still can't believe how wild this river is, to think a chunk could be in 3 inches of water in a small creek! These days must be like you are in paradise!
It was an awesome day! Those smallies really like hiding under the grassy banks on this river. It's a blast fishing them out of those spots too when you can just drop the jig in front of the grass and you see a nice smallie dart out and slam it! I did pretty well on this trip but the fishing will only get better for the next 4-6 weeks. I can't wait to hit this spot again in September when they're in fall feeding mode!
Casts are always on point, and I like how you just keep it simple and just go fishing there’s not many Channels that have that now keep doing what your doing..... honestly, I would have never thought that you would pull a fish out or that shallow of a creek😂
what an awesome day! Man I love the peacefulness and solitude of wade fishing like that. too bad we didn't try that a cpl weeks ago but we were a lil busy with the frog fishing. :-)
Definitely my favorite kayak fishing videos on here. I wish I could find areas Iike this close to home....the Detroit river and Lake St Clair are both very over fished
I'm with you brother. I've been researching and it looks like the Grand River in Grand Rapids and Portage seems where we need to go. Im right near the metro arpt so about a 2:45 hr drive. Im collecting gear now to be ready for the spring
Love the bitsy bug jigs. Headed up to vt 2moro. "13 hr drive" we have a camp and property up there. Always do some trout fishing while I'm there but this year taking all of my bass gear. Hoping to hit the smallies pretty good while I'm there. The bitsy bug in a variety of colors is definitely in my Arsenal
