Used to listen to Harry Lauder at my Grandpa's house when I was a young boy, (now 76 years), Found and lost a remastered LP in later years. Still know all the lyrics to some of his songs, not heard from other performers. Nice memories.
Lauder was my granny’s favorite singer and I always heard him on the record player when we visited. She used to do a little jig to it:) My brother & I were taught say “If ye can say it’s a bra’ brith moon lit nicht t’nicht, yer alricht, ye can!” (from “When I meet McKay” - which was my father’s favorite. I am 58 and both Dad and Granny have passed, but they taught us to love our heritage (Granny was born in Paisley) and we loved and miss them.
When the band & chorus played this for our Royal Canadian Legion veterans -- always well received..Silverthorn Legion Silver Band ... Did you her about the Scots baker that got his flour and starch mixed up? He had a very stiff hggis and a self-rising kilt!
