He is a great guy. He went through a bout of cancer a few years back and couldn't wait to return to making cheesesteaks and roast pork once he got better. Solid human being.
He’s 100% right about the bread. As a punk rock kid I spent a lot of my teenage years on South Street hanging out at Skinz and Zipperhead (I preferred Skinz.) Philly is known as the Mural Capital of the World with over 4,000 works of community-based public art. Thanks to the Captain for actually giving really good Philly knowledge. 👍👏
Absolutely loved this video. Never heard of the Philly Captain, but thought he was so informative and funny. The Macys was the old Wanamakers Dept. store and that is an eagle not a pigeon. Too funny! Love your work, Adam. Thanks
The Philly Captain Jon made this one of my all-time DailyWoo favourites, great rapport between you two and the tour/history was so good! I never even wanted to visit Philadelphia before and now it's on my list thanks to this video.
WOW!!! What a video. Both of you were awesome. Thank you. Philly has such an amazing history! I can't get over all the knowledge that the Captain has of Philadelphia. I love our city!!
Philly gets such a bad reputation but it has so many gems. The Art Museum, The Barnes Foundation..also McGillins Olde Ale House which is the oldest operating pub in Philly. So much history! So much amazing food. So many awesome music venues and so much more. I hope you've enjoyed your time there!
In some ways it’s kind of good that Philly gets ignored. If Philly were to be glamorized it could drive up the prices like New York and make it more difficult to drive around
Kevin Bacon's Dad---- his father, Edmund Bacon (1910-2005), was an urban planner who served for many years as executive director of the Philadelphia City Planning Commission and authored the seminal text Design of Cities.
“I’m the Philly captain, I know where the best sandwich is.” It’s like “being given a Vincent Van Gogh painting made just for you” 😊 Nice Video! He showed you so much stuff, has knowledge of all these places with American history; it was Nice! ☺️”What was what Ben Franklin used to say, take a penny, leave penny. No, it was a penny saved, is a penny earned.” 😂😂👍
Thanks for taking us along in Philly. Born and raised in New Jersey I have been to Philly and many other towns of Pennsylvania. So much history. Love John’s Roast pork. Enjoy your stay.
Really enjoyed this gentleman and his knowledge of history...he is very proud & he should be! Those sandwiches really looked amazing...yum! Getting a bit too excited for baseball to begin, Adam! Listen to him & believe him, your baseball video are the best!!! Adam, please don't stop making them!!!
This guy was super knowledgeable!! Really enjoyed the tour. Btw, never stop doing baseball games, Disney, and your tours. You are very good at what you do.
This video was superb, Adam! ❤ Philly Captain knows his city! What a tour guide! And also, keep doing the baseball videos! I will watch whatever content you put out because it’s all awesome ⚾️⚾️⚾️
This was pretty awesome to see for me personally. Loved baseball and the Phillies as a kid and it kinda hit the back burner for me as I grew up, but I always loosely followed. Recently I began becoming more interested again, right at the time Adam started making his baseball videos. Over the past 2 years I’ve been more into baseball more than any other sport and made it back to Citizens Bank for over 10 games last year. Philly has tons of little quirks and a ton of personality, glad to see you visiting Adam
Awesome collaboration!! Great video. Adam, keep making the baseball videos. Thank you for keeping the small towns alive!!! The cheesesteaks look so good. Yummy!
Excellent video as always. Growing up in Philadelphia, it was so nice to revist it with the Woo. True fact, my dad was an architect in Philly for many years and knew Ed Bacon. Ed is famous in Philly for his city planning and is an award winning author of "Design of Cities", a classic architectual tome. In my dad's circles, Kevin was "Ed Bacon's kid" as opposed to Ed being "Kevin Bacon's dad". Thanks for the trip!
One of your best videos! This was so much fun to watch! I love Philly! I learned a lot, and was reminded why I loved visiting that great city. Thank you, Adam, for another amazing adventure!
I lived outside Philly (in Jersey) for over 40+ years and never knew some of the info that Jon McCann shared in this video. He did Philly proud. Adam - hope your enjoying your stay
Thank you Adam! Feb 15th is my bday and this was a treat to watch. That guy is hilarious and I'll be watching his channel now too. BTW I really do love your baseball vlogs! ⚾️
Wow thank you for being such a great tour guide. As being a american history nerd. I can not wait to make it to the east coast to do Boston, Philly, and DC
Absolutely loved this video, Adam. Your guide today, Philly Captain, was enjoyable and informative. I've lived across the river from Philly all my life and learned stuff I never knew! Well, I did know about John's Pork - absolutely terrific!
So glad you were able to meet up with Philly Captain!! He was awesome - knew his stuff!! I’ve lived across the bridge in South Jersey all my life, and never knew any of this info! This was great!! Love these videos, Adam!!
Wow! The later half of this video brought back memories of me and my grandparents taking me here in ‘91-‘92 when I was about 11 yrs old..I LOVED it so much! The cobblestone streets, GW’s pub he ate at we ate at, Independence Hall was amazing and I got to touch the Liberty Bell crack…fantastic Five Below secret as well!!!!
I loved this!!!!! Your friend is so well informed of Philly!! I’m a huge Phillies fan so it was cool to see you hanging out at the stadium even if it was just outside!!
Never stop the baseball game videos! Always need to pepper them in on your trips around America. Excellent video today and yesterday's video was also and had me giggling the whole time!
Loved this video. Best one yet on this trip, just my opinion. Never heard of Philly Captain. Will definitely check.out his channel. He was so full of information. Great to see all the sights, food, history, and had many laughs. I wish the Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell museum would have been open. I would have definitely enjoyed seeing the inside of the Independence Hall. I hope you and Philly Captain will make another vlog while you are there. Thanks for sharing. Happy Trails.
I live right outside of philly, my whole life, and learned so much stuff from him! My dad's cousin is also a a George Washington impersonator for old city philly and does tour guides! If you're still there, maybe you'll see him walking around! Hope you're having fun and staying safe!
Awesome, jam-packed day! This is what I'm here for! I have a koala on my dashboard named "Larry" cuz I think all koalas sort of look like Larry Fine, heheh. Love Philly Captain's energy, esp his Lit Brothers building tip for a unique lunch spot. Mild obsession with Ben Franklin, really loved seeing where he went to borrow his famous Lightning key! Independence Hall is a humbling experience, and a must-see for everyone that can. That gorgeous mosaic is made of Tiffany glass, the same family behind Tiffany lamps, and Tiffany & Co. etc Also, Norman Rockwell's famous "Puppy Love" sunset painting is the very first painting I ever fell in love with as a kid, so last I checked the OG is at home now within Rockwell's own museum in MA. Eesh I could go on and on, but this is a comment section-- not a letter to Ndugo, haha Thanks you guys, Bravo! 👋👋👋
This place has so much history and culture, looks amazing. For anyone watching that bit about the Declaration of Independence bit about being in German first is sort of true. Only for THIS area. A few hundred copies of it were all done at once and this area was home to more immigrants than most. While it was published on July 4th, German copies started to circulate a week or so later in an effort to inform people of all nations who were here. Such a cool point in history!
Great tour of Philadelphia one of the best! Awesome tour guide the Philly Captain which I just started watching and love which turned me on to the Woo you got a new follower. Lived in Philly most my life now in South Philly and never ate at Johns Roast Pork which I pass often. I'm a Tony Lukes guy. After watching this VLOG going down there tomorrow.
I love the small town videos here, can never get enough of those, but I have to say that this is one of my favorite videos ever here. So much history. The food part looked amazing. Going to the baseball stadium. Outstanding work Mr the Woo
Thanks for making our city look awesome Adam! Great video! The 80s movie Trading Places with Eddie Murphy and Dan Akroyd was filmed in Philly and close to a lot of the areas you visited in todays video. You should check them out.
Thanks for the tour, I'll collect a few of these trophies when I visit again as I think it's super cool to walk and get stoned visiting historic sites! : )
You find the best looking foods. And hearing the owner describe the ingredients and how it's made sounds so delicious. You gotta keep doing your baseball vlogs! You enjoy it so much. :)
I love seeing you in my area Adam! This was a MUCH better representation of Philly, you were in the hood in yesterday's video! 😂 I've lived in this area my whole life and I learned a few things from this video! 👏 I only wish the Eagles won the Superbowl, the city would have been a real beehive of activity while you were here!
Great vlog per usual, Adam! One of our more recent roadtrips was through Pennsylvania (among other states around it) and we stopped in Philly to take in all the history. The tour to see "the room where it happened," the Liberty Bell, Betsy Ross' house and more was a life changing experience for a US history buff such as myself. Definitely recommend others take at least a day trip to Philadelphia!
Adam the woo baseball videos 👍🏼I like this philly guy, I think he might just be the best RU-vid collab you’ve done, u definitely have to meet up with him again and go to a Phillies game with him
Wow! Such a great video! It was fascinating listening to the tidbits of information that the Philly captain had! Hopefully there will be more videos with him in the future ☺️
WOW this is worth another watch, (apart from those idiots on bikes at the crossing). This area/history was just great to see - those brick buildings are beautiful, they remind me of Epcot USA section, yep love Disney too but great to see the real life vids 👏 - you really do meet up with amazing people, this guy really loves you too ❤
I can’t believe this meet-up happened, loved every minute of it! Bonus John Bucci appearance! (John’s Roast Pork) Adam, you’ll love the experience at citizens bank park! (Ps - Roast pork sandwiches over cheesesteaks all day - add broccoli rabe and sharp provolone)
Video paused at 7:27. Adam, I love almost all of your baseball videos. You were screwed in the 5 hour game with Ricky, but the A's videos were amazing, and the Daphne video at Angels stadium was magical, and well-edited. Sorter game, delightful enthusiasm from Daphne, your dry sense of humor, all great in a 2 1/2 hour game. I would love to see meet or take Daphne to ballparks all over the country, as she wants to go to more games. You two, like you and The Philly Captain, are magical together. You and Zack Hample together would be great, as well. You were great in one of Zack's last year, as a surprise Guest Star.
