Kevin Smith is one of my all time favorite directors and one of my favorite people to listen to talk about anything. Love his movies, Q&As, and everything else.
Haddonfield, NJ looks absolutely beautiful in Christmas decorated. There's a really good British restaurant there. The face on the side of the building, Tillie, the original one is gone, but it was saved before the building was demolished.. it was on the Palace Amusements building. There s a tribute on Wonder Bar. I was in Asbury lanes before the new owners took over and remodeled. It was great to see bands play in the middle of bowling lanes while people bowl. I saw Samiam, Walter Schreifels, and I think Saves The Day. I also saw a huge 3 day festival which had like 5 or 6 stages setup, including one on the boardwalk which was awesome.
Thank you so much for this series. I've lived in south jersey my whole life, and it's so nice to see Philly through someone else's eyes. And, thanks for giving Jersey some love too. 🫶
I have a cool Stone Pony story. My cousin's band was opening for another band, but the drummer for my cousin's band couldn't make it last second due to illness. The lead singer for the headliner band sat in as the drummer for my cousin's band and basically learned songs on the fly with around 30 minutes notice. They played for about 30 minutes, then started just a jam song after their closing song, and then one-by-one the headlining band joined in, with their drummer taking over for the lead singer mid-song without missing a beat too. So at one point they had four guitarists, two bass players and a drummer going, then one-by-one my cousin's band each got off the stage. The crowd of maybe 250-300 people was going nuts during it.
I'm curious what was the name of the headlining band and your cousins band as well, Im from PA so I know a lot of PA, NY, NJ bands, I use to be in a band myself at one point.
@@msvlogcreation Red Lyte District was the headliner. I believe it was a CD release show. Can't remember the year, but I'll say it was around 2003. My cousin played in a band called Motu
@@johndreker1613 okay havent heard of either of them but thank you for the info that was a little bit before my time in 2003 I was 8 and living in RI lol moved to PA in 2008 and got into the music scene around 2014/2015
@@msvlogcreation Yeah it was definitely before then. I may have been off on the year now remembering where I was living, but it was no later than 2005. I remember getting a wristband even though I told the guy I wasn't drinking, so it couldn't have been before mid-2004
Wow!! As a Jersey girl who moved long ago, this brings back memories. I saw Bad Brains in Asbury, though I don't remember when or where. I've been to Asbury lanes so many times!! I saw a lot of Ska bands there like the Koffin Kats. Ocean Grove was beautiful too!! I went to the annual zombie walk they had at the boardwalk too. Atlantic city is sad to see now, it was soo cool in the 80s and 90s. Great video ♥️
I just watched Chasing Amy for the 1st time......Outstanding flick. Adam has never let us down ...He once came to my town 2 blocks from my house when he visited The Troll Hole...I no longer live in that town, but look forward to meeting Adam one day
My favorite video thus far, Adam. I grew up in the Haddonfield, NJ area, but left at 18 and never wanted to live there again, although at times I miss the area's history. I was born in West Jersey Hospital in Camden and had family on Liberty Street. Thank you for producing this video. I have been your fan for a few years now and enjoy all your adventures.
If you are going to Haddonfield, there are several places worth seeing. Yes, it is the inspiration for Haddonfield, Illinois. The writer of the film Halloween was from Haddonfield, NJ. Haddonfield is also the site where the first nearly complete Dinosaur skeleton was found, Hadrosaurus Foulkii, named after the town and the man who found it. There is a small park at the end of a residential street that ,marks the area where it was found. Look for a picnic table at that site. You will see why I pointed that out when you get there. And there is a statue of the dinosaur on the main street of the town.
You were practically in my backyard in Haddonfield. So awesome to see you walking around my area! Sorry the weather was so crappy, but that sunset in Camden was something 🌅! We‘ve been to Donkey’s Place in Medford NJ - a little different than a Philly cheesesteak!
Red Bank is the town where legendary Big Band leader and pianist Count Basie was born and raised. Most of your viewers have probably seen "Blazing Saddles"...it's Count Basie's big band that's playing out on the plains in the movie!
“Sign Sign everywhere a sign…blocking out the scenery, breaking my mind, do this, dont do that can’t your read the sign” great song haha. Love your videos and all you cover and everyone your with Adam!!
One of my favorite relatives was Chief of Police in Red Bank, NJ. He was a great craftsman as well. Built the family home on his own from the ground up and used to make grandfather clocks. Just an all around great man. William Patterson, RIP ❤
Thanks Adam for sharing, it’s funny I’ve lived 63 years at the shore and never knew about a lot of these things. Stone Pony of course, was a stomping grounds for me in the 80’s , and right up the street at Xanadu’s. I grew up in Brick which is about 30 miles south. Thanks again 👍
Thanks for the video, Adam. I was born in Red Bank, raised in Monmouth County, so this touched on some of my old stomping grounds, including many strolls along the Asbury Park boardwalk. Thanks for the memories. I live far away now, but a cold rainy day in February truly captures the Jersey vibe!
I am so glad that you posted this video. I haven't been back there since 2003 and I graduated Neptune High School in 93. Thanks so much for taking me down memory lane
Yes! Clerks and Chasing Amy, good stuff. Asbury Park always makes me think of That Touch of Mink with Cary Grant and Doris Day and of course the unforgettable John Astin. So funny.
Whow my home state, towns I grew up in or around like Asbury Park and worked in Red Bank. Springsteen is from my hometown of Freehold, NJ and his grandmother lived up the street from us and I saw Jefferson Airplane at the Paramount Theatre there in Asbury on the boardwalk. Will ck out Krazy Joe's vlog. This was a good one for me.
The steak and cheese is killing me, I'm salivating looking at all the different sandwiches you've eaten in the last few days. Great vlog you're the best at what you do
Enjoying New Jersey with you Adam. That cheesesteak with the carmelized onions looked really good. Loved the atmosphere of the restaurant! Just invites you in. Nice to meet Krazy Joe.
Great video. I played many shows at the pony, fastlanes and opened a show at the coliseum. Great memories. Guitar trader in red bank was legendary also. Jack was awesome!!
Wow...Asbury Park looks so different now since i lived in Jersey in the 1980's..loved going to the boardwalk and riding rides there too. On the Wonder Bar is Tillie, from Palace Amusements, it was a indoor amusement park, with games and rides, great memories there. Thank You Adam for the vlogs, takes me back, safe travels
Awesome vlog! Actually, the film Dogma, in the beginning with the teenagers that attacked the old man was filmed on the Asbury Park Boardwalk. I have been to Asbury Park and went into Asbury Lanes. They have a cool retro arcade there as well on the Boardwalk. I have also been to the Quick Stop and the Secret Stash comic store and have done filming location for Chasing Amy and have met one of the guys that was in the film that works at the Music Shop.
Good rainy day at the seashore video reminds me of being a kid at the lake in Northern Michigan on a warm rainy day in August!! I needed that feeling. Showing where the Doors played in 1968 was too cool!!! It still being there is also too cool 😎!!! Thanks for the walk down memory lane!!! Attaboy, Adam the Woo!!! Another hit video!!!👍🌠
In 1974 I had a show car that I put in. A show in the Asbury park convention center ps I won 2nd place in my class at the show.. It looks the same to me. Thanks for the memories my friend FRANK FROM MONTANA......
I wrote something half way through. Now this is it: I am green with jello over the amazing cheese-steaks you have been devouring all over Philly, PA and you latest accomplishment at Donky's was phenomenal! All The Clerks and Springsteen -and- landmarks also the bomb. Another wonderfully spent piping hot caffinated beverage enjoyed from this side of the screen while whatching your TheDailyWoo. The comment..........is.............OVER!
I love Clerks, all three movies. I need to go up there and take a picture in front of the store. Maybe sometime in the future it would be cool to see The Toxic Avenger filming locations.
Super cool video, I’m a big fan of Clerks and Mallrats, both hilarious movies. That’s cool Joe knew a ton of details about Kevin’s stores/theatre, loved it ❤
Adam, really enjoyed your video! Thank you for taking me along with you! I subscribed to Krazy Joe Adventures. That Philly cheese steak looked really good! Now, I'll continue to watch your videos I've missed
I've seen Springsteen more tines than I can remember, but one of the most memorable shows I've seen was Warren Zevon at the Stone Pony! It was incredible to be at the front of that little stage for such a magnificent show! 😀 🎹
HEY ATW...WHAT AN INCREDIBLE EPISODE! YOU TOUCHED ON SO MANY things, it's difficult to say what was the best! Krazy Joe Adventures is so cool. His coverage of DRAGONCON last year was so important to me! Thanks Krazy Joe! HEY ATW, have you seen "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back"!?!! It has to be one of the funniest Star Wars movies ever! Never got into "The Boss". I think it was because MTV played that video of Dancing in the Dark (with Courtney Cox) into he ground! Another awesome Edition for the ages.
So many good times at the Lanes. Miss the old days of lots of PBR and great rockabilly and punk music. Thanks for the great video coving my old stomping grounds. Totally miss the Shore.
Thanks Adam for always Doing your Best! This video was unexpected Informative Unique and Fun! I loved Donkeys. For allowing filming It helps Promote Business! Safe Travels and Thanks to you and your good friend for the information and Laughs! From Tammy ❤️
The guys in the comic shop have or had their own TV series. And those guys were in the clerks movies too. So depending on who you met in there they might have been a movie star and you didn't know it.
So many amazing memories for me at Asbury park. bouncing souls. Against me!, Listening to mighty mighty bosstones play the stone pony outside from the boardwalk. Saw the bad brains there too 😭 Thanks for these great videos!
The Asbury Park boardwalk also had a scene filmed on The Sopranos when Tony found out one of his capos was a rat. Also, when you shot the geese, the big hotel in the background was The Berkeley Carteret, a very popular hotel and banquet venue. Not sure if it is still the same name. I had my senior prom there in the late 80's and I remember a manager telling me they served many famous people there over the years. East of Main Street is so beautiful now.
Cool thing I just found out about Kevin Smith and Clerks III. In the youtube comment section of the Clerks III trailer, a guy with stage 4 cancer wanted to see this movie but the opening was another 7 months away, the guy did not think that he could last that long. Kevin Smith was made aware of dude's comment and actually arranged for a pre screening of the movie for the guy! Huge act of kindness from Kevin Smith.
Well, you’re in my “stomping grounds,” so it’s fitting that I’m in Florida today! Two of the highlights of my performing career were my band playing The Stone Pony and performing in a musical on stage at the Paramount Theater. Always eat far too many Windmill Hotdogs in the summertime.
Great vlog Adam! Did you know the Sopranos had also been filmed on the Asbury Park boardwalk? The wonder bar character was also featured in an episode.
The photos are done by local photographer Danny Clinch who has a gallery behind Asbury Lanes. He is a rock legend photographer. Hosts a music festival on the beach there every year.
Wow! You went to quite a few of the places I mentioned in a comment on yesterday’s vlog. It is so exciting to see my Jersey Shore area on your vlog. You were in Sea Bright! You drove right past the Shore house from The Sopranos. The Twin Lights are right there too. You were so close to Sandy Hook. If you kept going straight instead of going over the bridge, you’d end up on the Hook. Did you know that NJ has its own dinosaur? Haddie! You were in her hometown, Haddonfield. Again, be sure to get a pork roll, egg, and cheese before you leave. Enjoy your time in our amazing state!
Oh man, these are my stomping grounds!! The face on the side of the Wonder Bar is named Tillie, and he's famous. They redid the Lanes a few years ago and it's just not the same. They've got an American flag made out of bowling pins and it's just... not the same. Vibe is totally different. There's also the Silverball Pinball Museum, and my husband and I took our engagement photos there. I live right between Asbury and Red Bank and it's so nice to see you give some love to my home. I love it here and wouldn't trade it for the world. (Also they're closed for the season, but Maruca's is the best pizza on any boardwalk, hands down)
I went on a date with a guy to Jack's and spent like an hour searching through the discount bins and he ghosted me lolol. Sorry man, it's just a really good record shop!
Always cool to watch an RU-vidr go to a spot(s) you know well. Especially now that that area is doing so much better than it was 20/30+ years ago. Miss the old run down days but like the new Asbury/Shore line as well. The Pony has the outdoor venue, the bowling alley changed, The Saint is gone now. Still, lots of cool stuff there. The old Sandy Hook military beach is a cool spot just up the road. 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Love seeing you in my neck of the woods. If you’re ever back in Jersey check out Spring Lake, Point Pleasant and Manasquan. They’re all beautiful. A few years ago I met Bruce Springsteen at the beach in Manasquan. Safe travels back to Florida.
Went to Punk Rock Bowling a few years ago at The Stone Pony. Drove 14 hours from Kentucky. Was totally worth it. Absolutely cried so hard, got to see 88 Fingers Louie.
Wife and I visited Ocean Grove when we first started dating. I was kissed to learn that not only was Asbury and the Stone Pony nearby, but we missed Weezer playing there by two days. We love going to down to the shore there, have been other “nicer” beach towns in the country, but now even our kids have a soft spot the shore from Asbury down to Spring Lake. I always used to point out to my daughters all the Asbury scenes In The Bouncing Souls Lean on Sheena video. Wasn’t until 2017 until I could catch a decent summer stage concert there, we got to see Bush (hadn’t been since 1997 at SPAC in upstate NY when I had last seen them live). Good times at the shore!
