We’ve reviewed almost all of WalkingPad’s lineup of equipment, including their rowing machine. The WalkingPad WR1 Folding Rower is a compact water rower that folds up at three different points. It shares similarities with other water rowers on the market, but it’s much lower in price than most, so check out this rower if you’re looking for something compact, storable, and affordable.
The wooden frame sits low to the floor so it feels sturdy and has a dual rail system. The rail is only 6” high and the seat is only 12” high so it might not be best for those who can’t sit low to the floor. The seat is plenty wide for most people and is pretty comfortable with nice cushioning and contouring.
The pedals are adjustable to work with athletic shoes and the straps are thick and easy to adjust with the velcro. The footboard is one singular piece with the pedals directly next to one another so some people might feel a little cramped, but this design is pretty common on water rowers.
The water tank is probably the smallest we’ve seen, so it doesn’t provide as much resistance as larger water rowers, but it is quiet with the soothing water sounds to use in most homes, and its small footprint makes it a little more friendly for most homes. The belt drive system that attaches the handle to the flywheel provides good tension throughout the stroke which we really appreciate, too.
What’s most impressive about the WalkingPad Rower is that it folds up to be only 26” long. It kind of folds up to be the size of a small box that you can shove in a corner or in a closet out of the way. Considering how long rowers are, it’s nice to see one that is compact and storable.
It also doesn’t require electricity due to the LCD screen. This screen is pretty small and minimal but tracks your metrics.
All in all, we’re impressed with the WalkingPad WR1 Folding Rower. It’s best for beginners and those who have limited space.

Great review - thanks for all the details. I purchased this rower to store in my home office/den. I have a WalkingPad folding treadmill as well and have been impressed with how much I use it given the convenience factor. While there are certainly better rowers out there, as there are treadmills than this brand ... if being able to easily store & access them will allow you to use them more (or, at all), then they are the best device for you. I was worried about the resistance (I'm 5'10", ~195lbs and have not rowed outside of occasional use at a commercial gym), though it is enough to kick my butt after 10 minutes. I expect that'll change as I use it more and build up more strength & endurance, though it's usually why rowers are empty/available at gyms - it is a humbling full-body workout experience and most people avoid them. So, despite the lower resistence - it manages to humble me still. While it would be nice to have a 'higher ceiling' to adjust the resistence, the average person adding this to their residential gym setup probably won't have any complaints there.

Have you noticed anything else about the resistance? Is it really that "easy"?? Im exactly the dimensions you said and im right on the verge of buying it but really worried about the resistance. I been researching it for days but cant find a solid sprew

Finally an actual review of this product. Definitely interested in getting one now due to all the pros vs the cons that i read on your site. I wonder how version 2 will be or look like because it certainly looks like the water tank on the current version, could be a bit bigger. I don't know what the actual capacity (gal) is and no one has mentioned it. Great review and same as above the one review I wanted to see 😊

Thanks for watching! We've had trouble finding the size of the water tank as well. If we end up finding it, we'll let you know!

@@TreadmillReviewGuru Thanks for your response 😊. How long have you been using it....without issue? I read somewhere that distilled water is the way to go not tap water because hardware in the water tank is not treated properly?
