have the HDZero with WS VRX but just purchased these thanks to your review! LOVE what WS is doing in the scene. They listen which is why I am using them more and more. HDZero still rocks, but WS now on par with DJI without RID and it makes me so happy. Great review and thank you for actually using them.

Walksnail will always be one step behind dji. Once DJI comes out with the 04 air unit and Goggles, then DJI will always be ahead. But I see Walksnail out doing dji in the long run. Now if we could bind to the vista's that would be epic

He Stew! great video, ggoggles look awesome, i got hdz withe the walksnail vtx addon ,makes the goggles fairly heavy,i bought batch 2!i broke the cam n vrx befor i even got to see them work,i still cant fly verry good but learning from your instruction vids, thanx heaps,i do wish i waited but i did a ton of research befoe i got my hdz.cant wait to usee em,my last drone wind took it and 5 hrs in scrub n knee high grass.i had no chance finding it,lucky it was bbuilt for los,but did loose around 550 worth of drone.oh well next time ill go use n oval not the 2 acres i live on.thanx for the video!sry i started ranting ,next drone is just waiting for props n elrs n buzzer this ttime hehe.peace bro! ddefinatly this would have been my choice. when i can fly there on next years list!

FYI as you well know the OG fatsharks always had removable RX modules. this is just bringing it back to digital like it should be.

I’ll believe the upgradability when I see a new module. If they really wanted to shake things up, they would make a HD Zero internal module that could be swapped out.

I noticed your east coast of Australia, where do you fly any great locations you can suggest ?

Ty for the video, yeah the biggest cons for me is the dvr can't record at all analog and JB said that it won't be able to even with firmware updates so yeah i am just starting in fpv i am at the "training on the simu" step with my boxer max ordered a few days ago but when i will have to choose my goggle the choice betwen hdzero one or this goggle x will be hard for me...

i stil use my goggles v2, buying cheap air units second hand whenever i see them pop up. but this system is looking pretty good

Hi Stew, Great video and review of the Walksnail X-GEN Googles. Yes $459 is a great price. I would love to fly with a digital system. Unfortunately the extra $125 to $170 each quad to have Walksnail system in my quads. And I would have to purchase a analog receiver since my receiver is built in, Do thee Googles have OLED screens ? Thanks again for the video and information.

My brand new goggles X keeps crashing - UI and buttons lock up after 10 to 20 minutes (ie warmed up) FPV feed still plays in background - another 10 or so minutes and video feed locks up too. Once warmed up it does this every 2 or 3 minutes. Im in the UK - does anyone know where i can get help sorting this issue or replacing these ?

This modular design sold me on them. I already have DJI v2 and first gen Walksnail goggles but hate the way the first goggles fit and fog up. I’m hoping they solved this with the X goggles. Yes this modular design is a huge deal imo.

I love my dji system but I do not love dji lol lol . All I want is to beable to use my quest 3 for my fpv lol. I would love to see hacks and mods on how to open up the quest 3 solder in a module bay and solder in a dji or walksnail system into the headset. Something about having one set of fpv goggles that I can use as a computer monitor, media player, can play xbox or ps5, vr,and my fpv system. I would pay $1500-2k for that system. If you add up all my different headsets I have it is around $3k

I’m thinking about getting into this hobby and am very interested (especially the cost).… but please, when you’re talking about price, tell us what kind of dollars you mean. You said $499, and as you are an Aussie, I thought you meant au$s. But the screen you showed said US$499. Is this what everyone says on youtube and am I missing something?

So I have a question I was looking to upgrade my goggles. But my whole Fleet is analog so you did also say that you could connect a arv analog module to this which module does anyone recommend and can you connect it with no issues or how do you modify it

the Sony micro oleds are awesome see hardly any pixels on the Goggles 2 and the latency is lower on DJI .. if setup correctly with the original goggles 2 faceplate it fits like a scuba mask you bend the edge of the faceplate to make it narrow and cut a little piece out to fit your size nose .. going to be hard to beat DJI .. most all the options on the X is not even functioning yet hmmm !! seems its going to more hassle then its worth , just plug and go ,, i hate having to constantly update firmware's .. I still use my Old V2's also they are not obsolete

Makes so much sense to make replaceable/upgradeable modules from a production perspective also. freeing the company up from future goggle development/tooling/production/packaging/shipping time and more focus on module hardware/software & QC development resulting in better (noticeable) improvements in range, penetration, latency and quality (bitrate). This sounds about right. I just bought my Walksnail goggles about 2 months ago.

Buying these now from caddx with shipping is $480 with a 15 day minimum lead time to ship. So you’d get them by December if you’re lucky. Then 9 months later the VRX internals are outdated. While I really love the forward sight thinking by Caddx here, because buying new goggles all the time makes no sense, the idea of a completely new system on the horizon in August makes this a harder pill to swallow. So many questions like - will the new system be backward compatible with the current vtx hardware? How much will it cost? The current vrx price is $220, so maybe the upgrade will be $150? Really on the fence investing in these, and I wish Caddx was more communicative about things like hardware compatibility. The V1 owners also now seem destined to be left behind if Caddx doesn’t step up and give them an inexpensive upgrade path.

I believe future proof is a gross exaggeration/wishful thinking. Maybe to the next walksnail HD version but I doubt much further. I have given up waiting for DJI to have a 1S vtx & this can do analog in like my DJI V1's ( shame it wasn't via a dedicated bay ), are oled & have diopter adjusters. So DJI V1's ( and a sore nose ) with wtfos for my bigger outdoor quads & wings & Avatar for my indoor whoops. Those vista's just refuse to die no matter how many times I smash them into the ground. 😀Real bargains on the Caddx site at the moment with the X goggles & whoop drone packages.

I've watched your channel on and off over the years and started looking to get into the sport, until i found out the aust drone rules that say fpv is only allowed indoor or commercially. The line of sight rules seems nonsense . How do most fly fpv with these rules?

Quest 3 has a usb c port I just feel like they could make something to fit the USB c port on a quest 3. 120hz 4k screen per eye and if they made it to where you fly in Og mented reality poof no more spotter needed.

460 is a pretty good price if they can get them down to 350 be even better

Spent all my money on the V1 Avatar goggles 6 months ago. Yes, I am pissed that my goggles and air units wil be obsolete in October 2024 when the new hardware suposedly comes out. But if that happens and I save enough money to buy new gear it will not be walksnail again.

Instead of "future proof" I think a better term is "Upgradeable". That example you gave, at the very beginning, is the original DJI V1 goggles, and they didn't have receive and broadcast technology. Plus, they came out on July 31st, 2019 !! Well over 4 years ago. Most products have lived out their usefulness by then and people don't expect to be able to upgrade them to a completely different technology that becomes available in the future. And, they were the Very First digital goggles on the entire market. Not the best example? Look at smartphones, out with the old, in with the new, every single year! Not uncommon with electronics. Everything will eventually become obsolete, including this new Walksnail google. I was in the electronics industry for over 35 years and it happens to everything, eventually. Don't fool yourself. This might last a little longer, but it WILL happen. That being said the modular aspect is a very nice twist! 😎🤘

No I can't agree. That's overpriced as fuck. No sane person would drop 500 dollars on goggles that can only be used for fpv. My VR goggles have way better image quality, can do way more. For 299.
