I always say this: if I were from the Academy, I would have started throwing little golden statues at the screen halfway through the movie. It's complete. Flawless.

If i had to summarise it, Wall-E is not perfect but it is a masterpiece. The only thing (And I mean the ONLY thing) is that the scenes on the spaceship during the latter half can get a bit tedious. Besides that? Flawless.

+Almighty OD5T Agreed. The final act of the movie (aside from the very end) is a significant dip in quality of storytelling, but a dip from perfection is still incredibly good. The first hour, though, is among the greatest in film history, and the movie deserves all the praise I can give it for that alone.

@@somesillyname9714 Yeah, the humans ruined their portion of this movie as much as their own planet. This overview ganked them and in effect made it as overwhelming as eating condensed soup straight from the can, only instead of barfing chicken noodle, my eyes and nose are making me dehydrated. I adore this movie and wish I could just nix the humans.

Funny thing, after asking them, I found that my entire family basically *hates Wall-E.* I've been trying to defend it for years. Something about the sounds and visuals really holds it as a classic amongst Pixar's generally amazing catalogue.

Just to remind everyone, this is one of the few animated movies Cinematographer Roger Deakins (Blade Runner 2049, The Shawshank Redemption, No Country for Old Men, Skyfall, etc) worked on. This, How to Train Your Dragon, and Rango are by far the most visually stunning animated movies up to date, and I would like to credit him for them. There are a lot of masterful shots in these 3 films, and there's no doubt he influenced the animators for doing them.

You don't need to use 3D animation just for this style of story telling. Hell, you don't even need color for this style of story telling. Their actions and their sound effect is all that matters. Beside if you can tell a story without words. That's when you know it's a good story. I watched wall-e for the first time around 9 or 8 yrs ago a bit after it came out and I enjoyed it.... as a kid. Now after a decade a am a more mature person, and I just don't know why, but I told myself that I should watch it again, since its been a long time an I was amazed ho much you can see in the movie trough the years . till like 2 months ago I didn't know it was a love story .... I DIDNT KNOW IT. now after watching it again and again and again I feel like thats not just a love story but a story about the two robots that live a life, they have never dreamed of.

I've watched the movie many times, in the animation in the background behind the and credits, it shows the people recovering and the earth becoming lush and green as it was long ago, it shows them getting thinner, the forests regrowing, cleaning the environment, and even a boy fishing. In the very end it shows Wall-e and Eve in this lush future, still together.

Absolutely a masterpiece! Another note on that bit about his eyes at the end - throughout the movie, WALL-E's eyes have an internal light source. One of the animators has a TED Talk about how at first he seemed too glassy-eyed and vacant until they put that light source in. But in this scene? They remove the light source. He's just, blank. And it's chilling even if you don't understand WHY.

Wall-e is my favorite movie, and has been my favorite for years. I’m obsessed w/ Disney/Pixar and I’m a kid at heart (I’m fifteen) so it’s really hard for me to make friends because they think I’m childish. I’m very introverted and I’m not very good at socializing so making friends has never been easy for me, people think I’m weird. But let me tell you, wall-e has gotten me through so much crap in my life. Wall-e is my shoulder to cry on. When I’m happy, sad, bored, disappointed in my friends or the people around me bc ppl my age are so immature, I watch wall-e. It was the first movie I ever saw in theaters, I was only three. Wall-e will always hold such a special place for me and I think about it constantly. I’ve had friends that tell me they hated it, and it hurt me a lot. But I’ve come to realize that if you show twelve ppl the most beautiful flower on earth, only a few of those twelve will actually appreciate the flower for its natural beauty. Wall-e is more than a movie or masterpiece for me. It is my life. I can’t even begin to imagine me w/o it. Wall-e, I truly love you.

Dearest puddingbug; 👋 Darlin', at 15 or 16 you ARE still a kid! Lols!! I'm *60* and LOVE watching animated movies and cartoons and playing video games! My beloved late hubby and I used to laugh because folks thought we were buying video games and animated movies for my youngest son (who was nine when we met) and our grandkids (hubby's daughter gave us our 1st grandchild in 2003) but in reality we bought them for US!! I lost my mom in 1998, but we had a discussion about a month before she died. I moved my kids and I in with her to care for her while she was going through cancer treatments. We both woke up at like 5 AM; I made us breakfast and she asked what I'd like to watch with her. I told her that "Rocky & Bullwinkle" came on at 5:30, so we watched that, laughing and loving the old show (I'd grown up watching it! I was 36 in '98 😉.)! At 6:30 AM she asked what else I'd like to watch. I cautiously told her, "Bear in the Big Blue House" comes on now..." My mom smiled at me and said, "M., don't ever grow up!" I teasingly asked if she was saying I was childish. 😁 She said, "No! You have the loving heart of a child! You still find enjoyment in simple pleasures and still have the curiosity and delight of a kid on Christmas morning! I'm so proud to have you as my daughter and now as my best friend..." Wall-e is my number one favorite movie among all the Pixar films and "Tangled" is my favorite Disney movie though I love most of Pixar's, Disney's, and Dreamworks' offerings (All of the How To Train Your Dragons, Ice Ages, and of course, Galaxy Quest 😉😏🤭). But I believe that Wall-e truly is a masterpiece! Believe me, you're NOT WIERD!! Don't *ever* lose that kid inside you; it's what will sustain you through tough times and gives life meaning! Take care and God bless, "pudding"! 🤗🤗✌

It is indeed a masterpiece. The way the story evolves so eloquently without dialogue, the way the music meshes with every scene and change in emotion, the visual jokes and cultural references, and of course the story telling craft itself. You're right about the repurposing. For example, the fact that the film begins with Wall-E showing us that he is basically a very small, sentient trash compactor, and that when Wall e and Eva are in mortal danger at the film's climax, it's because of another much bigger trash compactor. Wall-E is endlessly fascinating, funny, and ultimately, full of human emotion.

Absolutely my ALL TIME FAVORITE Pixar animated movie. There are only two movies that have made me literally cry... "Awakenings", and WALL*E. I could watch WALL*E over and over and over again. I have an unexplained connection to it and I'm stunned at how Pixar pulled this off without using much dialogue at all. Simply incredible. Thank you for sharing this video. I enjoyed it.

omg thank you for this!!! I always said of all the Pixar movies (and I love them all) this is the most intelligent and most creative in terms of visual expressions. To see the two main characters without any dialogue speak through their body language and gestures was beautifully done by the artists at Pixar. Pure geniuses!

My mom got me the DVD to watch it. I still actually have the DVD, sadly it has a bunch of scratches, but I still watch this movie ever couple years. I have different reactions everytime I watch the movie. This movie is the best. This movie should get a sequel Sincerely, Wilson

i saw the first three pixar movies they were fun but then the modern times came out and really i could just feel that notorious post modern cynicism because of all the generic stuff in virtually everything all over the world as the years went by that led to my depression and longing for another time but then WALL-E came out and it just gave me that sense of curiosity and raw non prepackaged non corporate innocence that i felt when watching the first toy story and even the disney classics from the walt era through wall-e and eve. Things like when walle looked up to the sky wondering about something great much like luke Skywalker looking at twin sunsets, back when that meant something before new starwars and last jedi made it all meaningless, and eve and Walle in his truck reminded me of rocky and Adrians moments at rockys apartment. If i could relive any moment in my life it would be to rewatch walle in the theaters when it came out, my favorite pixar movie and my favorite movie of all time that gave me hope again and always gives me hope.

WALLE is a masterpiece. It’s an old story we have heard before about how filthy humans are destroying the earth, but they used it to do something truly special. It’s a master class in making statements without using words. Visually, and thematically, it’s breath taking. Perhaps the most adorable and relatable animated love story ever, forged by the shared desire between WALLE and EVE simply to love and be loved, is seamlessly constructed and literally the only words they ever say to each other besides, each other’s names are Earth, Plant and Directive. They portray the most human desires and emotions with fewer words than anyone has ever done before.

It is hard to describe how much Wall·E means to me personally. It is one of the first films I remember watching, and pretty much the only one I consistently rewatch outside of holiday films like Love Actually. I watched it in the cinema when it came out, I chose it when my brother, my sister and I were handed three DVDs to choose from that year (other two being Ratatouille and The Nightmare Before Christmas, both excellent films themselves), I fooled around with the extras... It, alongside the original PvZ and Blizzard's catalogue of games defined my childhood and is my single favourite piece of media of any kind to this day.

When I was younger I appreciated the love story. It’s what made me love the movie. Watching it recently. Made me see how powerful the message was to the adults about the current status of earth and the predicted future if nothing was changed from how we take care of it. Seeing the government (Buy N Large) refuse to make a switch for the better because they want to remain in power. Amazing.

Wonderful job on this video. Your essay made me tear up. You would think that talking us through it like this would defeat its purpose, like when someone ruins a joke by explaining it, but no. It actually enhances it. When you're told in words what Pixar was trying to accomplish with just visuals, you realize how fucking perfectly they executed it. I haven't seen Wall·E in years, but I still remember how heartbreaking it was when his memory was erased. Thank you for reminding me how emotional of a scene that was. Thank you for reminding me how adorably yet depressingly they set up Wall·E's background and characteristics. Damn, I need to go watch this movie again now.

Finally... Someone understands the beauty of this movie.. it was just so amazing. I still remember, the first time it premiered on Tv in our country, it was at 1 am( without ad breaks) and I had an English exam the next morning but I was so hell bent on watching it. I did.. and although I felt sleepy while writing my exam the next day, I knew it was worth it. WALL E was amazing. And still.. it's one of my favourite love story/ animated movies ever. For sure Wall-E has Pixar's most creative visual storytelling, but we we must never forget the other language it uses to tell its story: the sound. I'm not talking about the lines or anything like that, but about the sound design and the soundtrack. The sound design is what makes this story and place so believable, and the soundtrack, with the visuals, is what makes the story, the feelings, the characters, and our own perception.

My top 3 i think is, Finding Nemo because i love the ocean, and Cars because i love cars and because of the story of someone greedy and selfish turning into a true friend because he starts to see how surviving on he's own isn't actually the best way to live. And at number 3 i guess Wall-E because i love Sci-Fi, and the story of someone lonely getting a true friend at the end and also being a hero to others.
