@@boristheamerican2938 no it’s not, Walmart doesn’t want to operate in areas where retail crime is not being properly prosecuted, yes the online shopping experience is doing very well, but they are closing stores because they are losing money with theft and damages along with the future not looking bright in a lot of areas bc of the Democrats, this is a fact.

theft is the huge issue.. the walmart cant afford to lose billions of dollars from stores meaning more than this store.. when looting and smash and grab internal theft.. its just insane to think they will hang around!!! I do know a lot of hard working families will lose out.. and its sad.. but they would not be moving out. if the money issue, were not the problem.. the company has millions of dollars at stake everyday,,.just in one store near 7 million each from a to z.. on everything they sale.. but they lose dollars to pay the venues whom they sell for.. and then it comes out of walmarts pockets.. and then employees lose out.. this bunch would not leave if were not losing money.. under performing is a bad sign.. sometimes as bad shoplifting.!!! I dont know any other retail giant that have spent as much money as they have to build and run the stores.. as walmart has.. I dont think anyone else will take that gamble!! sad very sad!!

If I were a business owner getting robbed and the authority not doing anything bout it then I would just close it down and move on to other town where the people are actually nice.

I had to go work on a remodeling gig there in 2015. They were working on fixing it to prevent it’s shut down back then. They blew A LOT of money on it at that time. Then it got looted and destroyed and built back. Blew a lot of money again. Now this. That stores always been a money pit. There’s a Jewel a few blocks behind it so there is somewhere to go.

I am not interested in people who "steal ", I am more interested in " why " some people have to " steal ". It's a bigger problem then these stores closing, other people who work hard have to suffer from these Walmarts closing and that is not fair to them :(

Fox is reporting that they closed for shoplifters, that is their agenda for ratings, CNN is reporting lost of revenue, that's what they do for their ratings, ugh. When the girl said “Walmart needs to do better” I was legit shocked. Is it possible she doesn’t know about the looting? Likely because I'm a CPA or because I had four businesses before graduating high school, but whatever the motivator, I was adamant that my children learned how to start and run a business before leaving the house. Although I received "flack", I'm glad I did. Parents, the American economy is "market based", so it's essential that your children understand basic fundamental market principles. THAT is "professional" advice from a CPA/Business consultant. I've seen the socio-economic differences taught to the poor, the working or middle class to the wealthy. What a child is taught, or not taught, regardless of level of education, makes a HUGE difference. Just my contribution to the "cause". "IT'S NOT PERSONAL, IT'S BUSINESS.
Agreed. The cost benefit analysis of keeping the Chatham store open is not profitable to their business model. Additionally, the Chatham location has seen 3 homicides in less than 60 days in addition to robberies. It is a sad situation.
This has nothing to do with politics. Walmart close many stores all around the US if they underperform. It's not as news worthy when they do the exact thing in heavily GOP rural areas.
Stores under perform in rural Republican areas yes. But if you have to close three stores in the densely populated area because on one hand you have an entitled race of people who are stealing so much out of the stores that they are no longer profitable. And on the other hand a Democrat government that says it refuses to prosecute that race for committing their crimes. That's what makes it independently newsworthy from any other dynamic happening in a Walmart they opened in the middle of nowhere.
Too many people are stealing. Politicians don't let police arrest thieves. Stop blaming corporations and talk about people who's stealing has cause loss of profit to Walmart.
In my area the loss prevention targets and harass people even if your not a thief. I've had several confrontations with security yet I've never stolen from the stores. I've never been arrested for shop lifting in general.

Wal mart has not made a profit in chicago in 17 years....They only make 1-3% on products. The deficit ends. Decriminalizing shoplifting was the last straw.

They are closing for good reason. They had enough of bad behavior. People think it's some kind of conspiracy. So protest in the empty parking lot. All stores should pack up and close their stores if they aren't respected. You reap what you sow.
When the retail stores are closed Walmart will open a Sam's shopper's club /wholesale warehouse. You buy a membership. There's 1 entry door. You can't get in unless you have your member's card. If you get caught shoplifting you are banned forever. Sam Walton would say I'm sorry but people have to pay for stuff they take home, otherwise I can't earn a profit. Look ,he is in business to sell stuff and earn a profit. Not provide a place to the poor to bring in some good excuses and be given what they need.
Unfortunately that's what happens..people ruin it for others actually do right. Sad really, then the ones who do this type of stuff will complain later about the WHY...
