Walnut and Maple Classical Tiroir Chess Board with Storage Drawers - 2.25" Squares House of Staunton

I recently acquired this very attractive chess board from the House of Staunton, the Walnut and Maple Classical Tiroir Chess Board with Storage Drawers. The Board squares measure at 2.25 inches and the board is a very great overall size for most of my pieces. Part of the reason I was doing this review was because I wasn't sure that House of Staunton gave measurements for the individual compartments, and I have since learned that the measurements are in fact provided on the website. So, although I was trying to be helpful to you guys, it seems like I was able to find the answers clearly listed on the website. Either was, I felt compelled to make this video with my fellow chess enthusiasts and friends, as well as have the opportunity to talk about my overall impression of the board.

Hey everyone! As always I appreciate everyone's positive comments! Let me know what you think of this board! When I made this video, I wasn't entirely sure that HOS has all the compartment measurements clearly listed on the page, so even though you guys may find this video helpful, I was so excited to bring everyone the measurements that are already available. Either way, I hope you guys enjoy this video. This board is currently out of stock but hopefully within a month or two HOS should start to get some boards back in stock. Hi Al, Thanks for a detailed presentation of the board with storage. I saw one at the outlet of HOS, but the squares were 1.75". I'll just wait until the 2.25" becomes available. You did a good job explaining all the pros and cons of having such a board, and it helps people (at least me) understand what potential problems might be encountered, like storage, drawers falling when being carried, etc. The Modena set looks good on the board, albeit a bit tight because of the broad base of the pieces. As they say on the HOS website, it gives the illusion of the pieces floating when you move them because of the felt at the bottom. I look forward to your next video.

According to the H of S website, the additional space in the drawers is for checkers pieces although you made good use of it for larger chess pieces. Do you think that this board with storage is a good match for your recently reviewed Dubrovnik set? I really appreciate your thorough reviews.

Thanks a lot for watching. I think that there is plenty of space for the Dubrovnik set, as the Dubrovnik set is smaller than the Modena and would fit nicely! I appreciate encouraging comments as they give me motivation to improve and share more!
