In this video I concentrate on building the desk top. The desktop is actually made of two components: a sub top, and a top. Both receive a curved front, and a hand profiled edge. The top also receives a cable pass through and cover.

That took courage to make that cut into the walnut top, after all the praise heaped on it re: grain and color. Understood that the sub top was always in the plans, but that had to be a stressful cut to make. Great series - really enjoying

Yes, making that cut was definitely tense moment. What you don’t see on the video is me putting it off as long as I could 😄

great job seth, love the contrast between the walnut and the spalted maple,do you think you could have used a bull nose bit on the edge to get the same result. can't wait to see the piece to come alive with some finish on it that spalted maple is really gonna pop..all the best scott

Scott, I thought about something like that, and it may have worked. I ended up doing it by hand because I wanted a very organic profile that changed from the outside edges to the middle with gradual transitions. Anything with a bit would have been uniform across the top.

I’ve been waiting to see this top go together for a while. It’s been teased on IG for weeks. Looks great.
