I just got a PDP pro tactical with the high performance trigger from the factory…… suddenly my VP9 is not as good as I thought it was….ordered a Lazy Wolf performance trigger for the VP9….. will see if that helps the notchyness of the VP9
Great vid. I'm new to handguns. Recently bought a VP9 and about to order a PDP. His and hers - sort of anyway, just became empty nesters and replacing kids with guns, LOL.
Your review was good. I happen to have both guns. The Walther is by far a better buy, about a couple hundred $$$. cheaper. The Walther trigger is better and if you're going to wear gloves the Walter has a bigger opening to accommodate the glove. The Walther slide serrations are much better to rack the slide. I purchased the HK years ago and it's been a very good gun but is showing it age. I'm looking for HK to upgrade or bring out a new gun in the near future. Striker fired gun improvements are moving very fast now with new models coming out all the time. I think the quality of these 2 guns are equal so the Walther is a better buy of coarse it a new model for Walther, they did a good job with it.
My vp9 tactical came with suppressor height sights. I also have the match but I think the ergonomics of hk can’t be beat. My buddy has the pdp and it just felt unfinished.
@@Gruntreviews H&K has an outstanding record and notorious quality. I love their firearms. Wouldn't mind to own a VP, maybe one day, but mostly, I am a Walther, CZ and Canik fan 😎
I bought the 4" compact which is still pretty big. The gun shoots amazingly smooth. Probably the most comfortable well designed grip of any gun out there right now. I absolutely love it. Incredibly accurate with the stock sights. Rear sight is adjustable. My favorite gun to shoot.
@@sixt3denied I see they make an SD Pro or something---not really sure I would want that threaded nipple coming out of the gun, but I do like the big fat mag well.
@@wjggmt1180 I agree. The big perk is the performance trigger. But the trigger is already so good I personally don't see the need to get the Pro version.
What are all the upgrades you put on this thing? Do you have a link to all the stuff? I really love the way you built it out. Great look and great functionality.
Great comparison. Now that the VP9 tactical comes with a optics cut and 17-rd magazine and the PDP Pro comes with a threaded barrel and tall sights, it should be an easier comparison. I have the VP9T (old model) and still didn’t feel the need to upgrade or change to a PDP.
Great review. 1st question, if you had to pick one pdp or vp9, which would it be? Overall which one do you like more? 2nd question. I hear the pdp is snappy, is it really that bad?
That's a tough one. I'd probably go PDP Pro (wasn't out when I made this video. I've got a range review up on the PDP, it is snappier than some. I'll be reviewing the PDP pro this year.
@@jasondavis1187 I believe the 2020 models comes optic ready... I bought the VP9 LE which is optic ready, includes 3 mags, and 3 dot tritium night sights.
Whenever they do the next James Bond film, I’m hoping they finally ditch the PPK and give him the PDP. I think it would be huge for Walther’s marketing to get that gun in the hands of a character that made their brand huge in the first place.
i would like to send my gun to lazy wold and have them set it up.. they are some of the best at it.. i like what they do with the slide lock and triggers... they test and make a great trigger even better... but it dont need anything out of the box.. why i love my hk. glock cant even buy a trigger thats better the the hk.
That's a tough one. I started shooting USPSA with a p30L. I have a lot of nostalgia for hammer fired actions. That being said, even with a top end trigger job, the stock PDP trigger is better. I like the grip module better on the walther, but I do like the smaller slide on the p30. Price wise, the PDP is a few bucks less and is optics ready.
@@awokeone7997 I used the vp9 primarily for shooting USPSA. The consistency is definitely important for quick follow up shots. I like the fact that lobos retains all of the factory safeties. I would feel confident carrying in a duty pistol or for CCW.
It seems strange to be comparing one gun out of the box, to another with several mods added. But you didn't seem to want to give the pdp much of a chance anyway.
Look at the CZ P-09 and P-07. They come with decocker levers, and include in the case Safety levers that are easy for you to switch out. Decocker or Safety levers included for a reasonable price.
Both are fantastic pistols. My husband and I have a good size collection of German pistols. I'm a huge fan of the HK, then some days the Walther.... HK is going to be releasing a new sub compact pistol in 2024. Thank you for sharing your videos 🙏
There is a lot of focus today on a "good" trigger. The striker-fired *_Glock inspired_* trigger is neither good nor bad, it is just a different kind of trigger. Almost all modern guns have "good" 👍 triggers. So don't worry about them as in a gun fight your adrenaline will make your hands feel like flippers. If you practice/train with your gun to _learn_ the trigger you will hit anything well. Remember - it is not the gun, it is the man. FACT 1: most LEOs practice the minimum with their gun. Just enough to pass qualifications. FACT 2: most people shoot 🔫 between 120 to 200 shots a year. Think about it 🤔.
I was never a Glock fan myself for years but I really love the Gen 5 models. Gen 5 far surpasses the previous generation models in my opinion. Especially, when it comes to the grip too.
It's funny that they are on the 5th generation of the same pistol design. If any other handgun company were to make 5 generations of the same pistol people would think they are crazy. The fact is the Glock design even with the 5th generation is basically the same ancient design Gaston came up with in the 80's with no real innovation other than maybe the optic cut.
